Manga thread

What've you been reading Sup Forums? Let's have one of these threads for once in a while.

Pic is Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku and it's quite good. "Innocently" lewd JC manga about embarrassment and friendship in the countryside. Really visual manga. I've also tried reading Reincarnation no Kaben recently but it turned out to be be very standard battle manga so I put it down.

guess I'll do a last ditch bump

Finished Devilman recently and wanted to talk about it but didn't feel like making a thread for it,so I guess this will do.
It was okay overall.I can see how it would be a big deal in 1972.But that last volume, holy shit. Miki's death made me feel pure, concentrated despair. Not even sadness just immense hopelessness. No media has ever made done that to me before,so bravo.I had to bump the score a whole 2 points for that.Good shit.

Dungeon Meshi
Marcille best girl
Chilchack best boy
Senshi best mom

I had seen that one page that's a prelude to what you posted, ages and ages over in OPT or other miscellaneous threads, and when I read it and it actually happened, it was still deeply shocking.

I wasn't spoiled on the details, but I was predicting it from the moment she appeared. She was too good for the world of Devilman. And yet somehow,Go Nagai still managed to pull one over on me,the absolute madman.
I was even collecting a folder of her best faces. She was too pure (´;ω;`)

Been reading Emma, I really liked Mori's way of writing and art so Otoyomegatari is next.

I'm going through my scans folder and seeing what I haven't posted. Pic related is from a magazine-only series in Morning (they did a lot of experimenting, and as such have quite a bit of this kind of content) that I scanned a few chapters of, where foreign writers/artists collaborated with Japanese artists. I'm sorting through it now, so I'll post it here in a bit.

grand blue

Took a plunge into moonery and started ploughing into Kuro's raws, glad I did 'cause this ride is proving to be wild.

And Sleeping Charon by the author of Pupa, it turns out actually being able to see what's going on does wonders to a story.

I've depleted my backlog and now I'm struggling to find stuff to read. Last good manga I found was anitomo, a nice sweet shoujo romance (though the new guy is really annoying, I hope he gets less focus in the future).

Golden Kamuy is my shit.

>every Getter Robo part except for the last one translated
>over five years since last update
>a group of fucking baguettes translates it all in 2 weeks

Does anyone know what happened to this series? Scanlations stopped because of licensing?

Reading Air Gear atm. Jesus the panelling is shit.

Do you ever scan English releases, or just raws? Because Tanabe Gou's adaptation of The Hound got released in English recently, and I was wondering if you might do that.

Pretty sure Yen Press or something licensed it, you know how that usually goes. Shit thing is I have zero local access to it and I ain't paying a fortune for chinese drawings.

I'm into Mob Psycho and OPM.
I tried reading other stuff but right now i'm not up for anything really.
I should try to catch up to One Piece.
Oh, and also Jojos. But that's a given.

...

At this point reading manga has become my habit. I keep refreshing batoto few times a day and just trust my gut when choosing new manga to read. I've lost my count for how many isekai manga that I picked up. If I had to choose, I guess Atsumari! Fushigi Kenkyu-Bu was pretty good for SoL. It really had a good dynamic despite the cast isn't CGDCT.

Just got current with Berserk after waiting about a year for chapters to build up. Finished vol 12 of OPM. About to get current with Prison School, but I'm really fucking tired of the various manga fetching programs I've tried being so hit or miss. Guess it's time to go back to downloading straight from the scanlator.

I'm about halfway through 20th century bois

Not much out, but I read Akebi. Very cute, will follow. Don't know what you meant about lewd, though.

Finished Gash Bell about a week ago, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be by the hype it gets whenever people mention it and it was a bit more childish than what I would usually enjoy but it had enough strong moments to keep me reading till the end, the final Tio spell is probably my favourite moment of the manga.

Survival was recently finished on batoto at volume six extremely abruptly, but it's listed on mangaupdates as having 20 volumes, not six. and now I'm confused.

They probably scanlated the wide-ban release.

I'm going through a comfy kick right now, so I've finished re-reading Shirley/Shirley Madison and am going to re-read Kirei ni Shitemoraemasuka and Kanojo ni Awaseru Kao ga Nai.

I took a chance and read Tenkuu Shinpan, the premise starts out interesting but the plot and writing gets pants on head retarded not to long in.

Someone recommend me something comfy. I just want friends hanging out, no romance shit or at least keep it light.

>Someone recommend me something

>Someone recommend me something comfy. I just want friends hanging out, no romance shit or at least keep it light.
Do your own work, faggot.

Go read Devilman Lady now.

Go on /wsg/ and somebody'll answer that.

So is Inio Asano doing anything interesting now that he's been done with Punpun for awhile?

Oh silly me I forgot Sup Forums is an insufferable shit hole for a minute there, I said the no no word.

I actually had forgotten that this was licensed. I scan English prints from time to time.

After being gone for a year, it's weirdly comforting knowing that you guys never change.

And by /wsg/ I mean /wsr/, of course.

Dead Dead Demons is great, but is currently on hiatus. I really enjoy most of his stuff, but he's pretty divisive around here.

Reiraku (Downfall) is his ongoing title right now, I'm not up to date with it but it looks pretty decent.

This two will always be my favorite couple.Sadly no one else seems to know about this, let alone the fact that no one talks about it

Lurk moar, etc etc.

It's generally well-liked around here, and a lot of people read it.

First time reading 20th Century Boys after years of having it on queue. I devoured 6 volumes just today, and even tough the begining was so interesting it suddendly hit a part when it all felt just too much surreal to the point where I'm starting to doubt if I'll finis it.

Dont get me wrong I know its a bit surreal from the start but the concept still had just the right amount to keep it feeling like it could happen, but after The virtual reality at Tomodachi Land where they recreate the memories of the kids and they kill whoever sees "Friend's" face it felt like ...what?

So, whats your opinion guys, have you finished it? Is it worth? I'll still keep reading for now, hopefully everything will be back on track soon, the Time skip didnt bothered me and I'm interested in some parts of it just enough to keep going.

i've read punpun, I originally planned to read it back in 2014 but I was too much of slowpoke.

I know I loved it to bits but I really got a bad taste afterwards.

May this girl rest and next time she should've never said those words to him, this bird.

Now I'm reading Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga

Poor Aiko

>6 volumes just today
You better slow down. It was a weekly series, and soon enough it will become too much to handle if you keep reading at such pace.

this shounenshit has to be more popular.

It becomes increasingly lewd over time, but not in the way that's typical for anime and manga.

>He didn't read Oyasumi Punpun in one go
Normalfag

I'm currently suffering through the wait for the next Blame! master edition.
It's my first foray into Blame!, and having compared the master editions to what I find online I realise it has to be appreciated in it's full glory.
This is gonna take years isn't it

what I read it in one go like 7 days ago.

I just said that I was planning to read it long ago but didn't had the chance.

recently started reading Beastars due to this page

It's a very good read, enjoy it.

I'm currently reading this. I'm at chapter when he gets a child. It's getting boring but I think I will finish it.
Kokou no hito is the manga. About a loner who climbs mountain.

I've been reading quite a few things lately.

>Tubame Sydrome
It started off fun, but the last arc was a slog to get through.

>Spirit Migration
An adaptation of an isekai LN with art done by the Tubame Syndrome artist. I wish this one hadn't ended because it was pretty enjoyable. I would have liked to have seen the girls fawn over Kou's new shota body more.

>Nande Koko ni Sensei ga
It's nice to have a series where older girls win. So often they get shafted even in series where you would think they'd be the obvious winner. I like that it is focusing on a different couple every 10 chapters instead of needlessly dragging out the first couples romance with forced drama and misunderstandings.

>Saotome Senshu Hitakakusu
A cute little romance that reminds me a lot of Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki.

>Yankee Shota to Otaku Oneesan
Started reading this for the /ss/ and was pleasantly surprised. Too bad only 3 chapters are translated so far.

My current goal is getting through all of FKMT's work I can find.
I've caught up to Kaiji, read what's translated of Pen-chan and am currently reading Akagi.
I'm thinking of starting Hokuto no Ken afterwards.

need something cute and fun so picked up pic related recently

This the Ika Musume author's new manga?

yeah

>What've you been reading Sup Forums

I read somewhere between 1500-2000 pages of manga every week due to digital subscriptions of over half a dozen magazines.

Binged on Soremachi and decided to read some of the mangaka's other stuff. Would recommend.

Damn dude, any favorites?

the subscriptions are:

Weekly Shounen Jump
Weekly Young Magazine
Weekly Big Comic Spirits
bi-weekly Young Animal
bi-weekly Evening
Monthly Bessatu Shounen Magazine
Monthly Afternoon
Monthly good!Afternoon

So two shounen magazines and six seinen magazines.
I would say my favorite magazine would be Afternoon and WSJ.

It's hard to pick favorite titles, there are far too many.
I can discuss most recent discoveries though. the Violence Action (web-serialized on Yawaraka Spirits) and Dead Dead Demon's Dedededestruction (currently on hiatus on Weekly Big Comic Spirits). I guess I was in a mood for "fluffy cute but batshit crazy and bloody".

>Hitoribocchi no Chikyuu Shinryaku

Kinda mediocre but I like it. Now that I caught up I hope I won't forget it though..

Also recently finished Piano no Mori. Excellent manga. I can only recommend it.

Next I will start with either Meteor Methuselah or Red Raven. Any opinions on them?

You've caught up on the alien manga? Spoil me, I dropped it ages ago, like around when the brother revealed his powers and his partnership, I was just getting tired of it

I also just didn't really like that foreign girl gunning for the MC's older bro, simply because it was outta nowhere and was dull

It wasn't really his power. He had an alien king inside that actually kept him alive for the all these years and it took over his body. Surprisingly he and the little alien girl(who was a clone like the main girl is) died at the end. Kinda sad because the brother relationship was more of the fun and interesting parts of the manga.

About the foreign girl and the older brother
I know what you mean. It's kinda a force romance.

I started reading certain series in moon since scans are either too slow or nonexistent. Combing through shonen, seinen, and shoujo magazines hoping I can find something interesting.

Girl didn't deserve it, but the way the brother was going he kinda did. Still, I'm surprised they died. I would never have expected that.

Also, glad you agree, I was thinking I was alone with that opinion.

That's the way to be. Please do share if something catches your eye in one of the sorts of manga threads. Even a name and cover is nice.

Pretty much same here. The manga itself is kind of a mess with its first volume pointing toward some kind of grand battle against demons and then the story shifts gears to "Monster-of-the-week" type shit, then back into an actual plot. Any character not named Akira or Ryou sadly lacks development, such as that little neighbor girl I was apparently supposed to care about, etc.
BUT, that last volume is legendary from front to back and boosted my score quite a bit. I gotta get around to reading Shin Devilman and Violence Jack sometime now.
Also, did they ever explain what was up with that shit about God invading Russia?

It's good shit, man. I finished it 2 days ago and I believe the ending was one of the best I've read in a long time.
Finished Onani Master Kurosawa, it was mediocre but had some good parts. Waiting for the new chapter of Yakumo-san and I'm probably going to finish reading Darker than Black S2

Read Lone Wolf and Cub. Pretty good took a while to get used to the art style.

Also, has anyone been reading any romance that isn't just high school setting? Feel the need for a romance fix but hate high school settings in manga/anime.

It's nice but wolf overanalyzing too much. He weakens himself by constant thinking. I get it's the whole manga idea, but still.

I read slow motion about ubercute couple that shares 80s music hobby. A true romance gem. But they barely translate it. Why god why.

because they are busy translating isekai

I like Slow Motion, I read the raws in Spirits.

Big Comic Spirits has a fuckton of great manga but almost none of it gets translated. In fact, 90-95% of seinen manga gets ignored overseas.

I dunno if that counts as a request or not, but one month ago I read this manga about a 30-years-old detective and his teenage assistant which was pretty fun, today I wanted to check for updates but I completely forgot about the name.

There are many manga that fits that description. Any more details?

Out of all the pages, you chose probably one of the worst as reason to pick it

Have you tried checking your browser history with the site name that you read it on as a keyword? Maybe check your backlog too.

>Poor aiko

What the fuck are you talking about dude? Literally the entire series happenings are Aiko's fault. Her only sympathetic point is she was in a really fucking weird family

that was the reason I started reading it, cause I thought it was a kemono hentai, turned out it was an actual manga, and was quite interesting

BTW curious, what chapter did they translate to?
This is last week's issue, chapter 39.

>90-95% of s̶e̶i̶n̶e̶n̶ manga gets ignored overseas

Big Comic Spirits has some awesome seinen stuff in there, but nobody gives a shit about the magazine. Even if I wanted to translate some stuff in there, I probably couldn't assemble a team to help typeset and redraw.

I think they got to 16.

Fourteen was a fucking wild ride, the ending especially was great. Author knew how to make me feel pretty uncomfortable with some of the shit that happened.

Well, shounen & shoujo manga gets far, far, FAR more coverage than seinen manga.

All of the major manga, at least in the top half of the popularity, from major shounen manga has a translation following.

Seinen manga magazines would be lucky if even one of its titles have translations.

I think Spirits strength is, and always has been, mature relationship manga.
Afternoon slightly edges over Spirits in overall content for me, but both are top tier IMO.

Then there's Big Comic Superior which I can't find a single damn manga I could give two shits about.

I hate how depressed I am now but it was fucking good

I think Hibiki's pretty good personally, though the autism comes off strong. The rest is kinda meh.

I do agree with you about spirits though. It's on par with Afternoon for me.

There's more shounen manga than any other demographic though.

Finally a manga thread.
Reading History strongest disciple kenichi. Pretty basic, I like the art and the fights, gets pretty repetitive though.
Devilman is fucking amazing. One of my all time favorites. You should also read Devilman Lady. Not as good, but still very nice addition to the franchise.
Read it years ago. Remember it as being pretty cute. Loved the Indian prince.
This is great
It's definitely overrated here but it's still pretty good. Interesting fights and characters. The last arc was pretty weak as I recall.
I remember it being amazing but it was one of my first manga ever. Still, it worth to finish it.
Now I want to reread blame!.
>when he gets a child
It's towards the end I believe anyway.
Fantastic manga though.
Fukumoto early stuff are hilarious. pretty raw stuff.
I hope you read all the essential stuff too.
HNK is also fantastic, essential battle shounen.
Meteor Methuselah is pretty mediocre.
Lone wolf and cub is amazing. Also took me a while to really appreciate the art style.
That kid was bad ass.

the fucking sauce? it should be a given in this kind of threads

Yeah, but no luck, I read a lot of differents stuffs.

30-years-old detective was a famous young detective when he was young but his fame passed and now he's mostly doing adultery cases, one teenage girl who's a fan of him comes and asks him to be his assistant, and together they solve cases like disappearing cats or ghosts.

If I remember the title I'll recommend it to you, it's pretty fun.

First one is literally in the OP.

You need to kill yourself, cancerous saucefaggot.

Shounen manga has much higher readership count, but not more manga content period.
I think you underestimate the number of manga magazines out there. There's over 400 magazines in publication.

If you ever visit Japan, check out the manga stands in bookstores.

Reading some tomboy boxing girl and loving it.

Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san is all that's coming to mind but I know that's wrong.

Picked up Seraph of the End by randomly choosing from a list of latest chapter updates. It alright I guess, generic shonenshit.

I think the biggest problem with Spirits is the lack of "big gun" titles. Nearly everything in the magazine is above a certain threshold and nothing really sucks, but it also doesn't have any huge titles that sells the books alone. It's like a collection of A and B class titles with no S or C, D, F.

Whereas Afternoon is also very high standards in average, and it also has top selling titles like Vinland Saga, Historie, Houseki no Kuni, etc. Same probably applies for Young Animal, although that one is quite shaky outside of top titles.

Mattaku Saikin no Tantei to Kitara

is that quad separation or just shadowing on her right leg?
