European Enlightenment with strong emphasis on personal freedom.

For the most part, consumerism and the illusion of liberty. We used to have an authentic individualist spirit but I'm afraid that's dead.

At worst it's McDonalds and Disney, a fake culture industry whose sole purpose is to create a profit.
The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

You're living in it. Our culture has dominated the world and the mistaken belief that we have no culture is simply the Seinfeld effect.

Your culture has adapted to include ours, so you think we have no culture of our own. That's where you're wrong, kiddo.

rap

this, we've been on the forefront of many major developments that have revolutionized humanity, but at the same time have created issues and conflicts that are detrimental to humanity

It's having a big dick and ruling the world faggot leaf. now shut your foreign fuckhole garbage leaf vassal.

American culture was no different than your typical Western European country until around the mid 1800s, that was when we changed our educational system and that was when you saw the emergence of the typical ignorant American. Before that, students received a classical education, if they received one at all, and studied Greek, Hebrew, and Latin as were typical of the curriculum at the time.

Just look at the list of presidents who were literate in a foreign language and you tell exactly where the "cultured" American died and the "ugly" American was born. It stopped around FDR (who spoke both French and German and was literate in Latin) and from then on, we had presidents who reflected the typical American: They spoke only English as they never received a classical education aside from Clinton who spoke horrible German that he studied in college and George Bush and Jimmy Carter who spoke horrible Spanish and Obama who spoke a little Indonesian from living there as a kid.

I'm not exactly sure if the shift from a classical European education is what caused the general American culture to shift to the one we have now, but I'm certain it had a lot to do with it.

Dictionary definition is 'the attitudes, beliefs and behaviours of a population of people'.
Culture is reflected in:
Politics
Religion
Film and television
Music
Sport
Language
Ethics
Law
Etc

There isn't one American culture. There are several.

In New York, it's about grinding your soul down to base elements, forgetting all woes except for your hatred for rich people.

In Oklahoma it's about working hard as a welder and shooting guns, claiming your small pocket of land and regarding everything outside your domain a cesspool.

In Alabama it's Bibles, Cousin-fucking and thinking that living in a cesspool makes you cooler than those New York fags.

In California, it's tech companies convincing everyone to rally for socially liberal values as a smokescreen for fucking over common people economically.

Murdering niggers and communists with an air of moral superiority. It's what we do best.

nah man im pretty sure culture just means food cos we have to keep letting in migrants so we can have chinese food

>What exactly is American culture?
The thing that's killing the west and driving the world into the next dark age.

You're seeing it.

American culture is whatever the fuck we want it to be, and that's the whole fucking point.

In short, American culture is the culture of the global Empire of Nothing. Money, consumption, and tolerance are all that matter. So long as the cash keeps flowing, it don't matter what the culture is.

Your culture, but for money.

American "culture" is unfettered consumerism tempered with sentimentalism/nostalgia for a time and place that never existed, with a dash of jingoistic world policing foreign policy imbued with the sincere belief that Americans are superior and not just lucky enough to have an ocean away from a continent that half-destroyed itself with two back-to-back world wars.

Guns and alcohol and consumerism. We are actually really envious. It’s what we strive for.

Basically.

American culture IS gun culture.

Prove me wrong faggots

debt

a continent that the US built back up

there is no American culture anymore because America has been dead for many decades.

buying as much as possible
eating as much as possible genetically modified foods
driving everywhere
fixing cars
guns
beer
credit and debt
diversity

Americans have no culture. They need to pay (((Hollywood))) to create one for them.

Guns, eating a lot, living in the suburbs, american sports and hookup culture.

...

>apple pie
>american culture
El goblino.....

There exists a saying "as american as apple pie"
You don't have to invent something to have it part of your culture

Thats not how culture works mutt

It's what every country tries but fails to emulate.

That's actually exactly how culture works. Do you realize how much or your culture has roots elsewhere? There are tons of roman, greek, and even middle eastern influences (christianity).

Being critical...
It really is sort of a melting pot type of thing I guess. In most cities you have postmodern districts that pick-and-choose the best pieces of cultures from around the world and blend them all into one small borough. It's the tacky, overpriced garbage you expect from seeing Hollywood films. But you can go a few miles and find a borough that feels like you're in a little slice of classic Germany, Italy, China, whatever.

Outside of the cities is where you get the homegrown culture, but that's been pretty well covered in this thread. I think one of the things that has been sort of left out is the "American Dream" attitude. That dream is dieing, but isn't dead quite yet. The cowboy/outlaw mindset still exists pretty much everywhere with people taking wild risks trying to make their dreams come true and it's really cool if you travel around and talk to street-anons. Colonel Sanders of KFC fame is a great classic example if you read his story; it's pretty insane. There are still a lot of people like that. We have a certain freedom that allows and encourages craziness as long as you can make money.

You are an idiot, apple pie is not american. "as american as chinese takeaway" i guess this makes chinese takeaway american culture too in your opinion

An oxymoron.
