One of perks of isekai is having the bittersweet goodbye scene, does it even happen anymore?

Modern isekai are just fucking LN adaptations. We never get to the end of the story

There SHOULD BE some but none recent that i remember do so.

...

there's this manga about a dude who can cook and has fenrir as a familiar

which is probably adapted from an LN

Yep did happen in Mushoku Tensei. Although it was more on the happy side since the MC died surrounded by his loved ones and managing to accomplish his goals even if the big bad was still alive and threatening.

Have any popular isekai ended recently?

STAY SHIGACHI TA IMAGE DARAKE NO

Why can't modern Isekai MC's have cool powers like summoning a giant gargoyle to crush their enemies

Yes.

Show By Rock

Modern isekai rarely, if ever, features a goal of "going back home". They either die and reincarnate with all their memories intact, or have such worthless lives in the real world that they would rather live in a self-insert fantasy world where mundane common sense makes them gods.

MAR was silly, but fun.

That was cute.

>losing everything and going back to a normal life
>perk

This, anime is just light novel advertisements these days.

I don't think any even tell complete stories anymore. Id actually like the idea of more people staying in the world but at least tell a complete tale

Wouldn't any setting where people can do things that are impossible in reality be an "isekai" technically and thereby encompass 80% of shows made?

To think Zero no Tsukaima ended 5 years ago. Or was it 3?

Modern Isekai about a loser NEET sent to another world, but eventually forced to return to his own after a bunch of adventures and having grown as a person when?

Underrated isekai

It's the reverse but Re:Creators had that

Sometimes.

>Dorothy didn't win.
It still hurts.

>Arifureta
MC goes back home as a literal god with his Harem.

>Return of the Former Hero
Starts with MC being kicked back to his original world, after saving the world he was transported to, he forces his way back cause he didnt get to make a Harem the first time around.

>The Reunion With Twelve Fascinating Goddesses
MC fucks off back to his world after saving the world, leaving the Harem confused and in tears. He went back because he was worried about his Grandma, so he stayed with her until she died. He then travels back to the fantasy world, but time flows differently and while 1 year passed on earth, 10 years have passed in the fantasy world, he goes around fixing the problems his Harem is causing because they were all butthurt that he left.

This. It was incredibly annoying in Bakemono no Ko. MC had literally no reason to do so but instead you get this agenda pushed right in your face.
