YPG Hits Turkish Helicopter North of Syria: Report
ERBIL — The Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) fighters have reportedly hit a Turkish attack helicopter amid fierce clashes on the Turkish-Rojava border.
Citing a source close to the Syrian Kurdish forces from Afrin, Sputnik said a Turkish A129 ATAK attack helicopter was successfully targeted, but noting that there are contradictory reports about whether it was downed or managed to safely return to Turkish side of the battlefield.

Footage filmed after 14:00 local time (12:00 GMT) on Wednesday afternoon shows the SAA taking control over several strategic locations including Hawsh al-Dawahira and the Shifuniya crossroad, as well as several farms from the area.
On Saturday, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) unanimously voted for a nationwide 30-day ceasefire. The resolution does not extend to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL), Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda, and other groups the UNSC deems as “terrorist groups.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that a ceasefire in Syria does not apply to the fight against terrorism. “Both in Eastern Ghouta and in Idlib there are militant groups which are portrayed by the West as moderate [Ahrar al sham and Jaish al Islam] but that are cooperating with a terrorist group – al Nusra – designated by the UNSC.”
