Imagine you live in a house that your family has occupied for at least the past 1000 years.
Then imagine one day, through no fault of your own, a new family shows up at your front door. They immediately walk into your house uninvited and their hired movers start moving their furniture in, throwing all of your possessions outside.
They tell you this is their house now, and that you can live in the broom closet in the basement.
This new family, however, likes to collect things. They collect so many things that they start using the broom closet that you have been forced to live in as extra storage space.
Obviously, you resent this new family. Soon after this happens, your neighbors catch wind of what is going on. These neighbors that you have known for at least 1,000 years are not happy either. While you might not always have gotten along with them, they respect property rights, and quite frankly do not care for these new neighbors anyway. So they try to convince them to leave. This doesn’t work, and the neighbors start to get angry. The new family complains to the next neighborhood over, claiming that they are under siege for no reason. So the folks from the next neighborhood over start threatening YOUR neighbors for sticking up for you.
