Ok, I've just finished Evangelion and I'm perplexed:

1) How the fuck did Rei generate an AT-Field as strong as the ones produced by Angels?
2) Is Rei a clone of Shinji's mother or what?
3) Why does Kaworu want to die when he finds out Lilith's body?

3) It never seemed to me like he particularly wanted to tbqh

So is Rei III capable of generating AT-Fields or could other Reis do it as well?

Kaworu resigned and accepted death since he found out thats what SEELE was planning for him, he had figured out that SEELE was lying in some way when they told him that he was the successor of earth and that Adam´s body was in Nerv, finding out Lilith is there makes him realize he was sent to die, and anyways only one race can live at some, so he would die sooner or later since he thinks humans must thrive, he just chose Shinji to kill him now, as he says that choosing when to die is an act of ultimate freedom.

I have another theory - what if this wasn't about World War II like I thought, but was instead about a bunch of people having crazy death dreams about WWII as they literally die of actual accidental radiation poisoning?

"Well we're all literally guaranteed to die horribly before long anyway, might as well do a cool improv skit"

Something like that maybe

1) Rei is actually part-human (Shinji's mom) and part-angel (Lilith) for that reason she had the infamous S2 engine that allows for Angel-grade AT-fields. All Reis had this ability. In other words she was similar to Kaworu.
2) Yes
3) Because he genuinely loves humanity and his existence is dangerous for humanity. Or because he prides himself on having free will and he wants to rebel against his masters, just because.

2) No, but likely she has some of Yui's DNA
3) Because he's a poor character, to be honest. But also because he had little choice.

he doesn't "want" to die he's just indifferent to life and death and considers it the ultimate freedom. also, he tells shinji that it's in humanity's best interest that shinji kills him or they're all gone, as he (due to his ultimate freedom) has no reason to be dishonest in order to save himself.

Rei isn't a clone of Yui, but she's genetically engineered to be similar to Yui.

He has apparent reason to be dishonest in order to ensure Shinji kills him. Whatever he's realized about being Seele's stupe, what Rei is, what Seele told him Gendo was doing, he doesn't mention any of it to Shinji. He tells it as the simple kill or die ultimatum with no other players that the episode just disproved.

Yeah, he didn't burden already mindfucked Shinji with that. I meant he wasn't dishonest for the sake of saving himself by bullshiting Shinji into releasing him.
