Should I bother?

Should I bother?

no.

ye it was good

got a lot of flak for being too similar to evangelion though, even though that wasnt really true

do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law

If youre open minded: yes
If youre prone to being retarded: no

That has multiple reasons. First off, if youre retarded you wont understand the show, especially since it takes at least one rewatch to fully appreciate it. You will just say its bad and illogical, even though everything being explained throughout the show. Another thing people love to do is call it an EVA knockoff, when in fact the two have nothing in common outside of a teen piloting a giant robot (like 95% of all mecha shows), an ambigious ending (even the UC Gundam saga had one) and Haruko being a superior version of Misato. The fact that NGE wasnt original in most its concepts either, is something people love to ignore. If anything, Rahxephon is probably closer to Raideen in regards to overall design than it is to EVA.

Its a pity that this show will never get a proper 1080p BD-remaster due to the shitty state of digital art back then. Its probably the most aesthetically pleasing mecha shows in existence if you can ignore the main mech, my god is RahXephons design ugly.

I watched it recently after avoiding it for so long and I have got to say I was quite impressed. Decent series overall and some really impressive stand out episodes. Beats 95% of airing anime in any recent year.

I wouldn't say it was just those similarities, they both took avant-garde approaches in terms of direction too and weren't afraid to experiment and both aim for a thematic depth to the show beyond just being about robots and teen pilots. Obviously they are different thematically and go about experimenting in terms of direction in different ways but those are similarities none the less.

Just watch episode 15

Nope

It's actually really good. I enjoyed it a lot more than i thought i would.

OP is good and Maaya Sakamoto did a p good job.

Somewhat good but some of the most dramatic scenes are so forced they become unintentional comedy.

Try it.

it was a better eva. fuck the haters.

It's basically EVA, but it does literally everything better than EVA.

Better girls, better MC, better robot design, better animation, and it does a much better job using those themes.

It's a seriously underrated show.

It gets mentioned a lot in "hidden gem" threads, so I'd at least check it out.

That said, it is a flawed show and few will defend it as top-tier.

>That said, it is a flawed show
Go ahead, list them.

>Better design
>Early 00s vs 90s
How about a big no.

You taste is beyond saving if you cant even see that RahXephon is a million times more aesthetically pleasing and consistent than NGE. The main mech is ugly as hell though, but so are all the EVA units.

Both are delicious to look at, but that's debatable as fuck. Besides RX's episodes 15 and 19 I'd give all the praise to Eva, if I had to choose.

Like I said: Irredeemable. When someone unironically says that Shinji, Rei and Asuka are better visually designed character than [insert anything] then you know youre talking to someone who suffers from a mental disability.

All three EVA units are aesthetic as fuck. 01 even manages to pull off that horrible purple/green color scheme

I wouldn't recommend it

Yes. Way better satisfying ending than EVA.

The movie gives you much more of a reason to care for and root for the characters and cuts out a lot of the drama that slows down the pacing of the show drastically, so watch the movie instead if you mind all this.
