This entire event is due to gross negligence at the local command level for the JSOC/3rd SFG A-team assets that were in country. They became complacent and were conducting operations with very high risk exposure. Planning is where this mission started and absolutely where it failed. It will be and has been another hard learned lesson for USSOCOM, JSOC, Army SF groups and everyone else involved.
The French jets were the last hope for the guys who drove through the killzone and were trapped on the other side after the ambush kicked off (guys in the footage). There are many good reasons why they did not drop ordnance. I don't blame the French pilots or command as that would have been extremely likely to kill blu forces even if they had a JTAC/Controller stuck with them, which they didn't.
Sucks and good dudes paid for avoidable mistakes with blood. That being said you don't sign up with JSOC as a trigger puller without expecting a good chance you will die the same way these dudes did.

The ambassadors have the DoD by the balls and basically tell the commanders what roe is and cas and loadouts/kit. They literally are cucking us while we fight. Army SF has specialized DA teams that conduct raids and other direct action more in line with what you see Rangers and Army SMUs doing, but they are a very small part of the Army's Special Forces.
