of course goy, it must be true

reminder that all the models that """prove""" free trade assume zero migration between countries

#MAGA

A nation that doesnt control its own manufacturing cannot be considered a great nation.
We should manufacture our own shit. We have the know how, the raw materials and the will to succeed.
Id love to have a comfy steel worker job like my family did before me. Imagine being able to graduate hs and roll into a factory job so you can support a family? I would love it. You know who would hate it if the US became a manufacturing juggernaut again? Globalist jews

>brainlet falls for the GDP meme
>all that actually matters is disposable income-desu

A rural and suburban retard.

(((Research))) shows.

No

econ 101 fail

OY GOYIM DONR YOU REALIZE THAT DOMESTIC STEEL HURTS THE ECONOMY BECAUSE I HAVE TO PAY THESE STUPID AMERICAN GOYIM STUPID AMERICAN SALARIES INSTEAD OF GETTING MY STEEL FOR FREE FOR PENNIES A TON AND PAYING ABOUBOUBABA ABBADABBADOO THE SOMALI SHIP CAPTAIN SOME MORE MONEY TO SHIP IT TO ME
ITS MORE EFFICIENT FOR ME TO PAY LESS MONEY AND USE UP OIL RESOURCES INSTEAD OF PAYING FOR AMERICAN WHITE GOYIM TO WORK AND PRODUCE HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT
ITS BAD FOR AMERICA YOU STUPID GOYIM

Its 'a'. ' an' is used before a vowel sound.

Yes. This tariff shit proves that Trump was never playing 4D anything. He was a brainlet all along. The tariffs he's planning on will unironically destroy the USA. The Bush ones hurt, but because they excluded Canada, the impact was limited. But Trump is going beyond full retard here. Hitting Canada with steel and aluminum tariffs is like enforcing tariffs across state lines. That's how interwoven our cross-border production is. And it isn't going to create jobs, at least for the aluminum sector, because even with double this tariff the US still can't compete with the geographical advantage.

If the tariff threat forces others to drop their subsidies then the short term pain could lead to a long term gain.

>economists have never been wrong about predictions or explanations for things that happened in the past

Perhaps.
Perhaps the Democrats should work to institute some kind of safeguard against this, like say... An intelligence test for all elected officials.
They *could* advocate for the cutoff being around the legal definition of mental incapacity, but of course we wouldn't want something terrible like people with less than average intelligence (100 IQ) getting elected, right? Heck, they should probably make it retroactive: why not prevent the damage *now,* before it's wrought?
Or is there some reason they can't do this?

I'll forgive you for not googling the data. But we lost about 180000 jobs in the steel and related industries before they called it off.
I'm in inventory and purchasing for a rolling mill. Not some mom and pop weve got 5 locations in 3 states. and if this goes through as is were probably done.

Is Obama?

>if you place tariffs to stop jobs going overseas, the jobs will go overseas anyway!

Germany has tariffs, Japan has tariffs. Eat shit Europoor.

Im sure youre just a little bitter that Nippon dust iron is so shit but let's say we wanted to produce more domestic. Can do. In about 7 years well have a mill open.

>if you protect jobs the way every other country does, the US loses jobs

Kill yourself, jew

>what is the dot com bubble crash

Economists are also fuckers on anything that promotes nationalism and culture. If it would provide another .000001% in estimated economic growth then fuck it fuck it all.

>the indstry was rapidly dying
>kept dying after tarifs werent universally implemented
Trumps a genius, this plan will work to the shock of normies everywhere.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GET BTFO BY YOU DUMB FUCKING KIKE

My dude you have no idea what the hell you're talkin about. Go ahead and look at how this went down last time.
There's not some empty mills waiting to have the breakers thrown and roar back to production. it would take years to build a mill. While supply is limited prices go up and scarcity kneecaps every related industry not prepared to hike their prices 25-35%.
Think before you bring out the jew canard. there's probably some consolidation scene at the center of this.

oh shit I forgot something completely unrelated and with an entirely different set of factors was actually the culprit.
Thanks bud.

>A stock market crash does not cause lost jobs

Don't bother. The diehard Trump fans are even bigger brainlets than he is. Specifically saying Canada gets hit by these tariffs is the killing blow.

Free trade is literally the one thing 99% of economists agree on. But that won't stop Trumptards from claiming this bullet-in-the-head a victory.

It's odd how only the US isn't allowed to impose tariffs.

Free trade with nations with lower labor costs and regulations only increases the GDP, which is the only thing kike economists care about. It does not enrich americans

everyone knows tariffs hurt GDP, during our past when we had a lot of high tariffs it's predicted that it annual growth could have been 0.5% higher without them

So why is Trump hitting Canada with the tariffs when we have higher labor costs and more regulation? When we don't subsidize our industry and compete based on geographical advantage?

YES

you guys just happened to get caught up in our trade war with china, and now trump is trying to use it as leverage

>research adversely effect employment

>australia ends car tarrifs
>car manufacturing leaves australia

>muh GDP!

nobody needs slightly cheaper luxury cars, and as most people still can't afford them there isn't an equal or greater increase in cars sales jobs

trade liberalisation kills employment

Yes
Because all retards own their own 757-200

>Because all retards own their own 757-200
damn you niggas wuzznt lyin about them benfits

Because you are owned by chinks and dump cheap chink steal on us. Also because of leafposting.

>MUH GDP
lol

Epic fail drumpf, epic fail.

Just to frame the mechanism of the trade imbalance with China, everybody knows they devalue their currency to make their exports more competitive. What this effectively means is that China is preferring, as a national policy, to take our cash in exchange for real goods and services. They don't actually have to do anything with our cash, since there is a trade imbalance and their investments in the country aren't actually equal to their total inflow of dollar reserves. They're just taking it and sitting on a lot of it, and sending us shit they're making.

Just to get a picture of what that means, though this is absurd and wouldn't actually happen, imagine China was buying close to zero things from us, close to zero investments. They were just sending us shit and we were sending them dollars. The government could basically pass out dollars to Americans to buy the Chinese stuff, and it would be fine as long as China kept choosing to be our economic slave. The point of saying that being, their cheap exports are to some extent "free" goods. We are getting stuff from them for less than it is worth because of their market manipulation. What we could do is take this opportunity to receive free shit from China, socialize it by taxing some amount of the profits from that and reinvesting in our economy by rebuilding infrastructure, improving energy self-sufficiency with renewables and advancing energy tech, investing in making our population more skilled instead of letting them all slide and wallow in low income service work. It's China's prerogative if they want to send us free goods, we only need to take the opportunity to accept their free goods and use them to build up our economy to make it even more advanced. That doesn't mean all tariffs are bad, but it also doesn't mean we should feel bad every time China sends us a shipment of free stuff for which we give them paper.

I think President Trump is bluffing...for now.

He is using this threat of tariffs to target Canada and Mexico with a new deal on NAFTA.

Of course Canada and Mexico will seek a waiver against the tariffs, but this is the carrot to get Mexico and DUDE to the negotiating table to make better deals to better serve the US.

this
The US' GDP soared during the 2008 recession's recovery, but wages were stagnant the entire time. More GDP is better in theory, but, in reality, the rich fucks hoarde all of the extra money rather than sharing it.

>Because you are owned by chinks and dump cheap chink steal on us
That's wrong, retard. Our metal corps are owned by Brazilians.
I actually looked into it, and there are no Steel or Aluminum smelters in Canada that are actually owned by Canadians now. Isn't globalist capitalism grand?

>China taking all our money and drowning us in cheap garbage is fine because the government could use the opportunity to become more powerful and make citizens more dependent on them
>Also I'm a dumbass who think that the US is lacking in educational opportunity

(((Research)))

kill yourself eurofaggot.

Yes, he's a gungrabbing retard but I support tarrifs

i guess maybe it wasn't clear enough but that post is meant to be pro-tariff, pro-national-self-sufficiency and anti-globalist exploitation
tariffs are a godsend for Japanese farming and industry and we dodged a massive bullet when TPP got shot down by Trump
I was sweating fucking bullets for awhile when it looked like obonobo was going to force it through, it would have obliterated the Japanese rice industry and put rural families and elderly communities into free-fall poverty

>taking all our money

They're not, we print money. Money is just a means to exchange goods and services, it isn't some innate good in itself. Clearly you can have a trillion dollars in a Mad Max wasteland and it doesn't matter, it'd be absurd to get upset and yell "muh money!" if in the same wasteland, an insane person gave you all of their water for your stack of a trillion dollarydoos.

Our money supply is growing, we just send China some portion of that and they give us real stuff, freeing up our labor force to do other things. People who would otherwise be making cheap clothes and computer parts can do other things. It's out fault if we aren't taking advantage of that and instead complaining that we have no money, when we have a bunch of people who moved into crap low wage service work after the recession and one of our biggest initiatives is still to just expand our military.

Also
>the government could use the opportunity to become more powerful and make citizens more dependent on them

lol it's hard to even take that seriously when I was mainly talking about infrastructure. I don't know if you're an ancap, but this shit goes both ways regardless. You're going to be relying on the government to maintain a tariff if your job is some manufacturing shit that China is trying to undercut you on with its own market manipulation. None of this is somehow exempt from politics and public initiative.

Every dollar we print devalues our own savings and wages
>People who would otherwise be making cheap clothes and computer parts can do other things.
Like what? What would you have our laborers DO?
>lol it's hard to even take that seriously when I was mainly talking about infrastructure.
Infrastructure was one of multiple things you listed
>You're going to be relying on the government to maintain a tariff if your job is some manufacturing shit that China is trying to undercut you on
The only reason China can do that is because of our labor cost and regulations, put in place and enforced by the government. In generally I am not opposed to most of these, but saying that being in favor of a tariff is being dependent on the government is false, I am simply in favor of the government taking responsibility for the effects of its policies

The world was different 15-16 years ago. The position may have flipped since then.

>exempting countries

theres your problem

You keep talking about Americans doing better thing, so where are all these things gone to? Why people electing Trump instead Obongo Killary? Oh wait all the better thing went to China too, and those that can't go we import poo and Chiang to do it. The only good things left are finance shit you globalists kike love, FUCK YOU!
