White collar wagies how much work do you actually do a day?

I got my first real IT job out of uni this year and am amazed out how little actual work I have each day. Sure some days and even months are pretty busy and hectic but there’s days where all I do is answer a few emails, run a report or two in excel and then just dick around on the ch0n for 6 hours. This beats the shit out of retail or blue collar wage cuckoldry, I’m just curious if other anons in an office setting have a similar work load.

Guess I should have used an image of a black guy with a white girl if I wanted to start a thread that would get attention and form a discussion

Shhh you moron why are you trying to attract attention to our laziness.

...

I don't have anything against white collar jobs, but it should be halved, and remove all the bullshit with it, and you should be able to push out women, affirmative action hires and lazy bums. And white collar jobs would get some respect they actually deserve these days.
These days it's filled with hippie thinking mutts, that would hate this kind of 'conformity' when I was much younger, but leftists think only about themselves and money.

Oh yeah, jews did this.

Don’t you get bored though? I’m in the exact same position. I do about 30 minutes of work each day (this is on a good day) and then the rest of the day I spend on chan. Last time I was “busy” at work was about two years ago.

This discribes almost all of my office friends.
Lazy and skip atleast two hours a day with facebook and other internet shit. I would like to meet an actuall office worker who worked more than 7 hours a day. (Ofcourse, there are small exceptions)

Don't you hate that?
I would kill myself. Although I am studying on the side for my old day, when if it happens my back gives out. I would never hate myself so much that you degrade yourself to just two or three hours a work at a day.

On my busiest days, I do about 4 hours of actual work. The rest of the time I get paid to dick around on my phone or watch JewTube videos.

Monday’s - almost nothing
Tuesday - quite a bit
Wednesday- peak productivity
Thursday - medium
Friday before lunch - not much
Friday 1 hr before leaving - tons of shit

I got an IT related comms jobs when i left the military and i must do about 1 hours ''work'' a day on a 12 hour shift.

Everything runs itself usually.

Help me out with this.
Is this only you? Or is the majority like this?
All my friends on office tell this. Even the one who had a more hands on 'labor' kind of office job said he wasted 1 or 2 hours a day with fb or mms.
Is this mostly true?

I fall victim to this but depending on where you work, it’s really fucking difficult to progress if your boss doesn’t like you or is just indifferent towards you. I work for local government which might be why this is the case. Everyone is lazy as fuck, people put in fake meetings and fuck off home and people abuse perks like flexible hours. When I first started working, I swore to myself that I would be a trustworthy and hard working employee, no matter my job or organisation but after only a few years, and a few organisations, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just not worth it. Unless you have a vagina, or are one of them, you can’t get far. Maybe I’m just unlucky or maybe I’m just shit at my job. I do everything I’m asked and rarely make mistakes. I was previously a yes man when I first started working but for the reasons that I mentioned, I stopped that fast.
>Posting this at my desk. One hour to go

I'm a fucking software dev and I'm lazy as shit. Still get projects done though.

The less you make, the harder you have to work. Pushed a mop and busted my ass through engineering school.
Lots of times it was kick back - with overtime, because they needed an engineer on duty.

I absolutely hate it. I understand how lucky I am to have a decent paying job that I don’t even have to do much at, but it’s just so unfulfilling. I’m beginning to think that I would rather have a blue collar job instead of this just so I can feel like I’m doing something. See

I feel a bit sad for this.
I don't hate office jobs perse, it's just shit these days.
I think mainly, it's because of the fact that most office jobs these days are inbetween projects and deadline office jobs are very few these days.
In my job, I like to work from start to finish.
This way you can progress, compliment yourself or others compliment or thank you for your service.

Yea I honestly was bored as shit yesterday, sometimes I mess around and try to teach myself VBA as I’m a data analyst type but when I don’t have a project that requires VBA just trying to learn it on my own isn’t fun so I usually just draw or browse the internet.
Seems to be the consensus that office jobs dontrequire that much actual work. I think it’s kind of an unspoken thing, I watch most of the women just sit and talk to each other and walk around and the guys just pretend to be working on the computer. It’s honestly comfy as fuck compared to blue collar stuff I did in the past just boring at times. About once every two months I’m thrown a project that requires like 4-5 hours of work for a few weeks though.

I work in IT for big company... and I am the same... sometimes I get challenged with a problem. But days or weeks can go by with no tasks. So I dick around on here and twitter. It can be quite maddening at times. But I have had worse jobs so I know this is a good gig for now.

I love my job (construction, but mainly painting, the more finishing touches, also wood)
But we are the backbones of many economies (less these days, sadly) and we get the taxed the shit out of us.
I will be working independant, my own work, but we get taxed too much.
I would have to work atleast 6 days a week for 5 years, to pay of my beginning materials. I can not afford much free days. Ofcourse after a while you can choose more free time, but it's still 5 days and 8 hours a day (8 hours work, not counting traffic)

I am going under here. Seriously, if anyone knows the Adobe CS/CC including video editing and if this person speaks some German and can do front end coding, please help. Vacancy has been approved by sen. mgmt. last October but we simply don't find anyone. And the worst thing is, only BA/MA trash is applying. But we need someone who can do more than talking shit.

I used to do data entry in an office. They essentially offloaded a shitload of work onto our department. If our small team of 5 people quite the entire company of ~50 would tank in under a week. We were also the lowest paid.

The IT guy did almost nothing. He was a holdover from office days where no one knew shit about computers.

I think women fucked up alot of these office jobs.
My uncle works as truck driver (I know, lame, but he is one of the happiest dudes) and his office is only dudes, they work ten times harder than any mixed sexes office space I know.
They have more fun, they fight and compete, not with personality but with their merit.
Not as much back talk, and if you speak two words a day, but your work is good, your boss loves you. Women hate men who don't talk.

>quite
quit
I used to type for a living...

blue collar work is for dumb people. The dumber you are, the harder you're going to have to work (for shit pay). The vast majority of white collar jobs are like yours, that's why you go to college and get a degree in something useful.

Also now you know how women are able to "work" these days. Office jobs are a joke and waste of your life. But they pay so well. How can a system like this last? Is it due to all the printed money floating around that is propping up this huge illusion of an economy?

Socialist destroyed the fact that you can fire someone.
We need some regulations for firing, but these days you can't fire anyone, except if he is white.
At my school, a teacher was fired and she was payed for the whole year. That's just stupid.

That's IT. It's just not that great when shtf. You have a few super busy days when shit breaks, and people are freaking the fuck out because the internet is down. You'll finally realize how addicted people are to the internet the first time the network goes down on you.

Vba? As a data analyst? Holy shit faggot. Teach yourself R python and sql. Maybe you can make some real money then

>At my school, a teacher was fired and she was payed for the whole year. That's just stupid.
Did she sleep with a male student or a female one? If it's the latter that's discrimination.

When did you guys get in IT? Everything i applied for was underpaid and flooded with poos.

I agree
I work blue collar, I am not as smart as most people. But these days, some of the most dumb, wastefull people are at white collar jobs. And they constantly have a 'burnout', WTF is up with that, can't work 4 hours a day?

This.

No, she was depressed (I still don't believe it, she was teacher for only 5 years)
Just don't pay her whole year.

That’s how I feel about my current job. Feeling blessed.

This. Gov worker leafbro here. On my busiest days I'm doing maybe 3-4hrs of work. It's not even worth coming into the office for. Worst yet, I'm not getting paid, cause Phoenix has its dick so far up Trudeau's ass I have 8gs in unpaid wages in limbo.

this fuck off OP you’re giving away the game

Yea I respect this. I always loved working with my hands. Feel like I am actually doing something... but that work would wear me out. Now I make bank and use my extra energy to workout and get laid. Strange existence really

i'm guessing blue collar work is like construction where real men get real shit done, like constructing the buildings you pansies sit in

Good luck user. Your job is obviously demanding but as you said, you love what you do. I hope to find something like that one day. It sounds really fucking cliche but my job and office jobs in general have taught me that money really isn’t everything. I don’t wanna come across as presumptuous as I’m sure there has to be at least one person out there who truly enjoys their office job and is fulfilled but one thing that’s keeping me going for now is that some of my colleagues, past and present feel the same way I do. It’s good knowing that you aren’t alone

The perfect job would be white collar pay, 50% inside office work 50% outside work.

All you said is good, except search for a wife and a fullfilling hobby.

Office jobs are necesarry, but it didn't matter in the past, and we would lose comfort, but you don't need office jobs as much people think we do.

I’m not in IT. I’m a professional buyer for local government. All of what I have said can be applied to any office job though. Just depends on each individual circumstance

Provincial or federal

4 hours when I clock 8

This would be my dreamjob in the future, when I am older.

Howdy,

Attorney in nyc here. My day:
8am -wake up and shower
830 - leave to go to the train
10am - show up in court and wait
12pm - talk to other attorneys for 10 minutes submit an order to the court
1pm - get the order back
130 - lunch
3pm - get back to office
330 - actually sit down
345 - start entering case notes and emailing clients
5pm - start any new work
630 - go home
730 - dinner and bongrips with friends
10pm - head home to goof off playing vidya
3am - bed time

That's my average day

Yes there are poos everywhere at my big company. And they send emails that talk about commitment to diversity and shit. Fucking white countries are a joke

Eh it depends I’ve had brain dead jobs that require no effort

My current job requires a lot more effort but I can go for a couple weeks at a time that are slow followed by weeks that are busy.

But difference is this role is a lot more difficult cognitively so having the ability to screw around for an hour or two or have a long lunch is nice

I am maybe shitting too much on office jobs, some of them are still great. I think mostly the not infected one with too much diversity or women.
But wife, kids, office job, money and an fullfilling hobby is all you need in life.

We already know faggot, you’re first in line for the camps.
>arbeit macht frei

Holy shit, I do more on my sunday.

I can’t complain at all man I have my own office with a bathroom in it, company pays my phone bill, above avg salary for all The places I interviewed at, and gas and mileage if I have to travel to other sites. Not really any room for advancement here but I’m gonna give them at least 2-3 years before looking for something else with more opportunity as I like the people I work with.
Amen laughing my ass off at all the Sup Forums code monkeys who said my info sys degree was worthless that I’m making more than those cubicle dwellers sitting around with a team of pajeets.
We have a big IT outsourcing company that handles our network and data storage via their data warehouse so if shtf and the entire network crashes they get blamed lmao, unless I did something retarded like went into the networking closet and just started pulling out wires, however when things go down outside of my control like the fax machines shitting out from a rotted cable under the street everyone looks at me like “wtf fix this”.

I would rip on you for being a government worker because they are known for not doing shit all day long... but I am learning big corporations are kind of similar. At least I work for money earned by the company rather than money stolen from people via taxation

It's even better working from home. I do all my housework, get a good workout in, make lunch and eat on the front porch. As long as I have my phone on me and can get back to my desk.

Like you said, there are hectic days but by and large, I probably only get a few hours of 'work' done.

Do you honestly think it is, even remotely, a good idea to hire someone of Sup Forums

>sleeping for 5 hours
Go to sleep at 11pm or 12am, you’ll get about 8-9 hours of sleep

Sounds like you fucked up user

I'm a Director of Finance for an exchange in the US, and I barely do anything.
The hardest work is ahead of me as Upper Management and behind me as an Analyst. I'm in a comfy zone.

It is known.
Watch this informational clip from the 80s to learn how to deal with the responsibility:
youtu.be/LRlmkXsoGx0

this. I am more of a high level concept guy. My 1 hour of work a month is worth 1,000,000 hours of retard work

I don't have trouble finding work to do. The only times when I do nothing productive at work is when I choose to do nothing.
Most of my work is in translation of scientific/engineering texts, and if I don't have much given at work I just do translations on request for people from outside the company.
But even that is not the only thing to do, I can always try to do research or write an article in any free time. Kinda what happens when you're in the research/science sector. If you can come up with something to do, you can always have stuff to do.

T. Pajeet

I know a little sql but we don’t have oracle or big data software so where the fuck would I use it? Python I’ve messed around with a bit but I’d much rather get into systems analysis and work with people and get user needs and map out the programs/software they want than be the code monkey that programs it or crunches data. I see that as a better path to upper management compared to being a cubicle dwelling number cruncher.

youtube.com/watch?v=BTdOHBIppx8
Describes me 100 %.

lel good luck putting me a in camp when I outrank you, wagecuck

A4 basic living, mah man

But see, if you are good at a job, you should do this maybe at home or on yourself?
If you are capable to help many people, you should also ask more money.

This thread is so polite.

Your own bathroom? That's the dream. One of the worst parts of working in IT office is having to shit next to all the IT manlets ripping ass. IT guys look like creatures from star wars who survive on mtvdew and Doritos. The bathrooms are always jam packed and smells of shit because IT is mostly dudes.

I work as an semi conductor engineer. Pretty white collar, although I do occasionally work with my hands.

I do about 70 hours of work over a 50 hour work week. I have TONS to do. Same for most of my colleagues. There are a few pieces of shit who don't pull their weight and dick around on facebook all day, but that is the exception. I dont mind being busy though, I hate the super rare days where I dont have anything to work on. I do wish there wasn't so much pressure to work insane hours though. Being salaried sucks when the company culture is "the 40 hour workweek is a myth".

I'm sure we have a lot of useless paper pushers at my company, but I dont interact with many of them.

2 hours of actual work (maybe), 6 hours of dicking around on the internet and phone, 1 hour lunch, 5 days a week.

Maybe one day a month requires more than 4-5 hours of work. There's no reason to have me in the office except to show boomer CEOs that the companies employees are present and acting busy so they can show off to stockholders.

Most of the time I don't do shit. I tried giving a breakdown of working from home with occasional field work but it keeps hitting a spam wall. Anyways, I only really put in a good 3 hours of work a day and get paid as though I work the full 8 hours. And I make 50K a year at this place.

Double-0oooooooooo ubt agreed, 9-12 hours needed

True. Managers don't need to code I guess

You are not man enough to face a potentially dangerous building site and work there, you soyboy. Now lube that boypussy of youra so I can get some tension off.

Kys

What is your salary and state you live in? Interested how you get paid for working hard?

Obviously they'd do all the normal checks...

Seriously, I would consider it: Sup Forumsacks scrutinize everything, they tend to be more intelligent and more tech savvy than the average and they are goeal driven ("race war naooo!")

How wrong you are. Project supervisor makes 90K a year, a starting equipment operator makes about 45K a year. Project managers and up pull in 110K and it just goes up from there. Blue collar work is respectable work. It's also good pay too.

>I’m just curious if other anons in an office setting have a similar work load.
Then you lucked out. Stick to it and you're good for $(YEARS) on the job.

>come in to work after fighting shitty traffic due to Califoricates shit-flooding Oregon for over 20 years
>Grab coffee, ditch 10 out of 12 emails
>roll up sleeves and open Jira, thank $(DIETY) no new tickets
>each $(TICKET) is about 8-24 work-hours of workload
>Visit number 11 from $(USER1) who is anxious because senior executives expect project to be finished, but $(VENDOR) has an API that doesn't provide data
>$(VENDOR) refuses to provide data; $(INTERAL_TEAM) on project refuse to push data that would provide data; you apparently are the only person smart enough to compute the data using what $(VENDOR1) provides along with the spec from $(INTERNAL_TEAM)
i_boggle_at_their_stupidity.jpg
>It is $(SENIOR_MGMT1) putting pressure on Director who is putting pressure on $(USER1)
>$(SENIOR_MGMT2) has another bright reporting idea, "you should be able to whip this out in minutes"
>Consists of developing a small data cube with specific dimensions, probably a solid 2-3 days development time.
Internally sigh and file ticket priority.
>$(MY_MGMT) gives frowny face, asks why I am not working on $(NETWORK_PROJECT). I put all tickets on pending and move focus to $(NETWORK_PROJECT)
>I know $(SENIOR_MGMT1) and $(SENIOR_MGMT2) will bitch but hey, it's my boss
>Spend 45 minutes gathering information to place call to $(VENDOR2), which has a bad history of closing out cases prematurely and not responding
>$(SALES_MGR) wonders where report is, Yet Another Stupid Fucking Report
I already manage around 48 of the fuckers, what's another?
>Call $(VENDOR2), "yeah yeah, um, let's take data dump, we'll call back"

This is just the first two fucking hours.

How does being a dumbass make you a man? I was taught "work smarter, not harder". I had to do roofing gigs to put myself through college, I promised myself I was not going to end up a burnt out blue collar peasant and majored in engineering.

Your intelligence is your worth in this world as a man.

Blue collar Wind tower technician here. Independence and not having your boss around all day because your office is 300 feet in the air is nice. No women in my job field at all. Pussies can't hack climbing towers every day. Extremeley physical job that makes you strong as fuck. Cons are pay could be better and tower reliability is a joke.

Obviously not him but I hired already 27 people trough Sup Forums, 3 of them from Sup Forums most other from Sup Forums, /sci/, /n/, /ck/, Sup Forums and even /biz/.

There's no better place to recruit then this place if you need to get shit done, care about skills and don't give a shit about diplomas.

That’s my goal anyways, not to say I don’t have respect for people who can code as long as they aren’t insecure autists who try to belittle everyone and seem more intelligent like a large percent of devs and IT people I’ve met.
It’s beyond comfy, will be very easy to get complacent at this job and not want to look for something else since my crypto gains supplement the higher salary id be missing out on at a higher paying gig.

Bonus perk is getting to live in comfy country side because that's where all y he sites are at. Not too many jobs in rural areas so beats smoking meth all day like 20 percent of the population out here does.

>Job could be done by any monkey that passed maths and english
>Barely have to do any work too
>Paid a very reasonable wage, especially considering the work load. Probably even salaried.
>Job is seen as respectable.
>Even burger flippers are worked to the bone for peanuts
>It's those sorts of workers who are apparently lazy, just need to work harder, back in my day we had to blah blah blah

Gas.

...he wrote as he sucked on that corporate cock.

I don't do much most of the time. I've never had a day that was just a little bit bad, though. Whenever it's bad, it's been a full-on suck-start a shotgun shitty day.

This explains why officefags think going to the gym + sports + cardio is so much work.

Trying to become an electrician did I fuck up lads?

God tell me about it. Most of the work my way is factory work. I've never been great about working in a factory. The air was never right. I lucked out and got a gig first with Verizon, managing a data center. But then the site closed down and now I work for a local ISP which provides internet to rural folk. I gt to go around different sites when we have field work and when the weather gets bad, I just hang out inside and watch the snow fall. Problem too with those factory jobs is even if you have a degree and extensive experience, they won't know what to do with you half the time.
No shit an interview at Honda.
>"So user what skills can you bring to the table?"
>"I have a degree in Electrical engineering, especially as it relates to communication systems. I have IT skills as well due to helping to rebuild a data collection site from the ground up. etc etc Also side note I am fluent in Japanese due to living there for three years"
>Follow up: "Your ability to speak japanese made us uncomfortable. One HR manager thought it was racist."
> I just introduced myself in japanese.
> I didn't even mention anything negative or condescending.
>Next day, interview with another company.
>Same Spiel.
> Hired on the spot.

I am considering going independent and working at home translating. But I don't have the client base for this kind of thing yet. Sure you can post offers online but I hope to reel in some of the people I know will need my work for years to come and make them dependent on me before I go.
Part of me is also worried that I would be too lazy and unmotivated to do a lot of work if I worked at home. And working like that would leave me as just and only "the translator". I would have to drop any scientific work and stuff like going to conferences/publishing articles.

Nurse here. I honestly have a ton of free time in the ICU, compared to people on a med-surg floor or surgery (where you don't really do anything except before a surgery, but then you have to sit in a room and be prepared to help if needed). I get my two patients, give their meds, document and do other nursing stuff when needed, but if they're sedated or brain dead then there isn't a ton to do but monitor, so I can dick around on the internet and phone a lot. Sometimes there's mad rushes when someone codes or you get a direct admit that's really fucked up, but that's exciting and looked forward to, not like preparing a PowerPoint at the last second for a meeting or whatever bullshit.

12 hour shifts can be rough when it's really busy or really boring, but it's not bad at all on the ICU compared to med surg, where you're babysitting 6 needy bed shitters the entire time and never getting a break from answering call lights, giving meds and dealing with family. The ER is really busy, even if most of it is dumb shit. You're always tired by the end.

4 hours a day at most, the rest I'm on my phone. So on a 40 hr work week (I don't do overtime) I do at most 18 hours of real work, if that. I've gotten extremely good at listening for footsteps

Fuck. Too much work.

I work for a small MSP in IT. We have ~800 end users and 72 servers. I am Tier I, II, III help desk, as well as project manager. This week alone I have done three Office 365 migrations from on-prem to cloud. On top of resolving a multitude of small issues for individuals across multiple clients. And then I have to account for every fucking minute of the day. My old boss was such a nazi with it... I took a dump and he was bitching at me for having 7 minutes of my time not accounted for. So I made a ticket about my bathroom experience and went into extreme detail.

Then you have a big list of priority work stuff, and if you don't get them done within 24 hours then you're written up. Top that off with having to go onsite to clients all day, then there's overtime that is not authorized, but you have to get everything done. So you work off the clock to get everything done.

I don't like the way this place is being ran, and plan on starting my own business. My problem with finding a different job is there are few jobs here, and the IT jobs that are available require a bachelors or doctorate, or CS degree - even for help desk. Because job recruiters don't know dick about the IT field. I've been working IT for 10 years, and did it in the Army.

I hate my job.

Please don't. Diversity and nepotism are the only reason my job is this easy
>Upper management poo gets his wife a job on my team
>She's the most ignorant, opinionated, and obstinate person you've ever met
>Spends most of the day on Facebook, spends the rest fumbling through her work and wasting days or weeks on false starts and bad ideas
>Highly resistant to all attempts to help her un-fuck herself
Meanwhile we dick around on Sup Forums all day because the team is slowed to her pace. What takes us a day takes her a week, but we all still get paid.
Only worry is when her fuckups endanger the contract.

>My old boss was such a nazi with it... I took a dump and he was bitching at me for having 7 minutes of my time not accounted for. So I made a ticket about my bathroom experience and went into extreme detail.
Well done. Micro-managers are the root cause of unproductive departments. Hopefully you had exquisite detail about the shit exiting your anus.
