Ok so, basicly about 80% of my time awake i think alot about Sup Forums tier shit like the politics, schizo tier conspiracies and whatnot (dont believe em but fun to think about).
Also im a software engineer and im kinda into programming. I have no problem accepting that we are in a "simulation", the hard part is figuring out WHY would a civilization so advanced, simulate this shit.
Thoughts? Please more detailed then an alien waking up from a sick acid trip.
My ideas are pretty basic, but from my standpoint, they need a logical reason. Like security might be a good reason. Imagine every living create in "base reality" has unlimited freedom and resources, like access to nuclear energy and whatnot. To avoid that one individual ruins for the rest, they put you through this chaotic world we call "life on earth" and see how you behave in general, public & private. Why risk losing paradise to a clown unable to behave? Or maybe the simulation is the last part of a job interview.
Please dont take the thread too seriously, just curious on your thoughts
Sim theory is just another tool elite has been pushing to bring about new age of existential nihilism within the masses.
We live in a metaphysical prison, where are souls are put on the trading block every day.
This world is too real.
Lucas Fisher
How do you recognise a foundation myth? It fulfils three functions. 1)It explains the origin and structure of the world (and society). 2)It defines ultimate good and evil (and from those definitions are derived the values that are used to justify the holding of power). 3)It determines what is held sacred in that society. For modern Westerners the story of WWII has become their foundation myth. It fulfils all three functions. 1)We live in the ‘Post-War World’. The lines on the map, the institutions, the sense of what era we live in, all arise from the starting point of WWII. 2)Ultimate evil is Nazis. Ultimate good is opposing Nazis. The values derived from these definitions are anti-racism, equality, diversity, anti-nationalism and so on. 3)The only thing that is held sacred, that cannot be denied or mocked in the contemporary West, is the Holocaust. The problem is that all three functions are backwards or negative. Instead of the origin event being one of fertility and new life, it was a conflagration of death and destruction. Instead of ultimate good taking the central position in the story that slot is occupied by ultimate evil. Everyone knows that Adolf Hitler, the personification of evil, holds the centre point of the WWII story. Instead of that which is held sacred being something mysterious and sublime it (the Holocaust) is an obscenity. Having a negative foundation myth means the tree of life for Westerners is poisoned. > Having a negative foundation myth means the tree of life for Westerners is poisoned.

Simulation theory is irrelevant. If you are stuck in res interna and can not experience res externa in any way, then the existence or state of res externa is irrelevant.
good theorys, but this all being a job interview is the most scary one of all. I can only imagine the world craziest leftist society would do that and they would only let you exit after becoming a full blown SJW

>Civilization Ok, OP, bear with me just for a second... What if it's not an advanced civilization, but God himself? Literally the source of everything expressing itself in an orderly fashion similar to programming.
Carson Thompson
I think your argument is flawed, because it has to be "real" youknow. Also if it was obvious it wasnt real, maybe the purpose it was created for, wouldnt be achieveable for that reason.
If you want to see how someone behave, you need a real situation with hidden cameras, not Ashton Kutcher with 3 cameraguys trying to sell you ice cream, it has to be real.
Juan Lewis
I have two theories:
1. This is a game some higher being is playing. Maybe that is why we must sleep because that is this being hitting pause. The goal isn't certain, but maybe to just live as long as possible or collect as much stuff as you can.
2. This is a way for something to create entropy or a random number. Our best computers still can't create a truly random number. They can only use a complicated algorithm and maybe tack on the date to make a pseudo random number. Our reality seems perfectly suited to create chaos and we can think up a random number with ease.
Henry Phillips
>they put you through this chaotic world we call "life on earth" and see how you behave in general, public & private
Or maybe it's simply education? Raising an individual in a society with no limitations or shortages could have catastrophic consequences on a biological brain which is just an evolved primate.
Noah Morales
>able to create a matrix-like fake world >have the technology to do so >having to work yeah nah. this is where you fucked up. same with the previous theory on testing the person. there is no way to prevent someone from ever changing their mind to do harm, so that is also out.

We only see 390 to 700 nm light spectrum.
Does that make the world outside of that light spectrum fake to us? No.
You cant simulate a soul.
This world could be a hologram for all we know, and the real world exist just beyond that visible light spectrum which some other animals are capable of peering into. Does that mean they exist in the real world? no they just experience a different reality.
Nick bostrom doubts his own theory. There are so many "what if's" the theory just falls apart.
I believe its a hologram of some "sort" Its real. But there are things beyond that are far more "Real".
Josiah Allen
Yeah, thats not impossible at all, been a long road down that road.
I might underestimate God, but he is conscious, it seems obvious to me that he would be "lonesome", if that makes sense. I mean, Gods state is actually a pretty horrible one, seen from a humans perspective. Imagine knowing everything that has happened, is happening and ever will happen. Nobody to talk to, if you get someone to talk to, God by definition exactly how the conversation will go, meaning its pointless. Apply that to everything, so basicly everything God ever does is pointless in his godlike state. Its like he directed a movie and watched it for the billionth time. Anyways, God has one way to escape this, to create an exciting world and put himself into whatever he wants and live through them. The illusion that God is alone now dissapeers. He drowns his loneliness in a fake world, where he is no longer the only ultimate complete God.

Here's the ultimate redpill:
The conscious entity that you control known as your "self" only lasts for a tiny fraction of time.
The nature of consciousness is similar to that of a film reel: the conscious being controlling your body lasts for some time, but "you" are like a single frame in a film reel, only persisting for a short while until time advances to the next frame.
By the time you've finished reading this, the conscious entity that had started reading this post had alread expired. "You" that is reading this now is a different entity.
"You" will expire in 3.. 2.. 1..

Yeah, but my issue with multiverse theory is that i cant really fathom it. It seems pretty simple when you start thinking about it, but after a couple of years it just exhausts me, cause there is so many more points to the theory than just the physics around the universe

The human mind is power to where it can imagine anything being real, especially when the person wants it to be real. But how many real videos, pictures, or people do you know that is shaking hands with a demon, or fighting one? None. Same with the rest. People have to fabricate seeing them or meeting them because one, people with a die-hard belief in something is easy to manipulate for money, and two, it doesn't exist no matter how hard you try to make it. also:
Caleb Bell
Intresting, but its false because ”you”only exist in the imagination of other peoples minds and them in yours, take your asian their philospohy and smoke it with opium. Youre simply explaining time, ”you” dont exist really, but you exist because ”them/they” see you and they exist because you see them. In a empty world only the idea of yourself in your mind would exist
Anthony Rodriguez
You're not underestimating God, IMHO. If we were made in his image (as in, the creation of a soul and being able to feel emotions, understand abstract concepts and be self-aware, don't mean the shape of our bodies etc.) and some of us have a feeling that God could potentially be lonely, who's to say that he isn't? Perhaps that's why we're here. Maybe he wanted for us to love (both him and each other) and feel loved, because he knew how that's ultimately all there is to it and that's the one thing he always wanted. But would that make the world fake? How would we define fakeness? Just because I cannot become like God (not that I would want to, because that's the hardest fucking job I can imagine) does not mean that I'm any less real. If I'm code, what does it change? I still think, feel and experience emotions. And I think, key word being think as I can't be sure, that he does want you to realize that he's real. He's not hiding anything, it's just hard for us to connect the dots as we can't really comprehend ideas at the same level, but he's dropping hints all over, not just in religious texts.

Ancestor simulation. Living the life of a historical figure/ancestor.

It's much weirder. It's hard to explain, the Hindu conception is probably the best.
But literally the Sun is a giant nuclear reactor whose energy acts as sperm upon Mother Earth. Life is a more sophisticated form of matter that arises under these conditions, which gains awareness over generations. As awareness expands, the ability of consciousness to directly change reality does as well- chimps using tools to hunt exist on a higher plane than plans for instance. They also exist further from "God" in the sense that lower forms gain power directly from Sun and higher forms gain power from lower forms.
You could argue consciousness is essentially predatory. Through technology, an individual can affect greater change than large numbers of organisms. The people and societies that create the best technologies, (which includes ideas, memes, social organizations) exist on a higher plane of consciousness and because of that can manipulate lower levels.
This process is happening at an exponential level, as described by people like Ray Kurzweil in the Singularity is Near. Computers and the internet allow for a higher order of information complexity than has ever existed in the known universe. This forum is unironically one of the highest information places in the history of existence, probably only surpassed by State level information systems and tech giants Google, Facebook, and Twitter.
The collection of people controlling the flow of information change the actions of everyone perceiving the information. This isn't spiritual gobbeldygook- when a leader declares war we are talking about millions of pounds of matter shaped into new forms, exploding, shaping the physical environment in novel ways.
The information systems allow for better studying of aspects of reality, allow for more advanced philosophical concepts due to higher information and higher ability to assimilate it. This process is the subjective increasingly changing the objective world.

Samuel Foster
When you are talking about God or Simulation Theory, what you are really talking about is reality being a conscious design. A mind putting the pieces in place.
Humanity and its technology are the striving towards exactly this. Should current progress trends continue, we will essentially birth "God" into objective reality and with that subjectively able to change most or all of objective reality.
I think Hiduism's concept of the Godhead is quite possibly the true reality. I think its possible the higher order of changing objective reality to subjective will would transcend all time. Existence is the snake eating itself- God set forth unconscious existence which inevitably ends up coming back to absolute consciousness and every aspect of existence is part of this playing out.
The only real question is to what extent an individual can rise on the plane of consciousness. Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are powerful, but they are not Gods. A person on DMT can perceive things and reality becoming subjective to Godlike extent. Any esoteric experience you can conceive of can be perceived in something like a lucid dream as well. Furthermore, if we are in a simulation or Godhead scenario, it is possible reality is "instanced" as in a game like World of Warcraft. Simultaneous subjective realities where there could potentially be people living "in the dream" so to speak.
The truth is, none of this matters so much. The best you can do is to make the best choices to effect the best reality you can. And moving towards hurtful or evil things, is not a winning move long-term.
Dominic Foster
2nd law of thermo no body cares quit sperging.
QUESTION! why cant we have perpetual motion/energy machines?
because we live in a closed system. We live under a ethereal dome, where the waters above separate the ground below.
Everything the goverment, elites, illumnati ect are doing is to ensure YOUR soul gets delieved to lucifer, and in doing so they recieve material gifts and earthly pleasures until they are taken by their master upon the second death.
See for yourself, everything in this world is meant to take your soul to hell.
The truth is coming, and with it a new world free from sin.
Take the bread pill, and dont let the demons of the dark that lurk within seeking to satiate their desire for wickedness take your soul with them.
This is a prison, Freedom is a fallacy. Not even death will relinquish you from life. Death is the only way to live.
Break the shackles of sin, and you will see what others refuse to.
Jason Flores
imagine a procedurally generated world. this may not be simulated other than having a set of rules for how basic things interact at the sub atomic scale. 1)program written 2) run program entering in beginning parameters 3) big bang occurs at beginning of simulation 4) everything that follows is not really "controlled" outside of the basic algorithm running
*just because it's simulated doesn't mean it isn't really happening

I love how you guys actually have been on alot of ideas i have thought about when i drive home late from work or whatnot.
My idea were basicly the same, except that in the end of the lifetime of a universe (when black holes die from hawking radiation). You would end up with a bunch of parameters which would be used for the next big bang & so on. This fits the multiverse theory more then a sim theory tho.
Also i know its really happening and its real, disregard of it beeing a sim or not, i dont think i have to quote Descartes on this.

I think there are hard truths and possibilities, for possibilities we might be in a simulation, or perhaps planet earth is someone's / somethings property and humans his / it's genetic experiment. Maybe earth has been colonised by advanced life in the past and its population is small and hidden now, using humans as its toys. The Jews have a 4000 year history and seem to be the likely race in contact with any higher power. There are some certainties. Jesus Christ was and is real. It's through him that humanity will ascend.
Evan King
how do i hack the simulation and get super powers
Andrew Thomas
You're offering nothing but fear and shame. Empowering ourselves with compassion is the goal. Your rhetoric is that used by the demons of this world enslaving people, using the picture of reality as a prison to make it the biggest prison possible and appoint themselves warden. People like Alex Jones claim to fight the demons, but he would support absolute tyranny as long as it was in-line with his morals. The real good is unlimited compassion for every perspective and teaching people how to exist in hierarchy with power being wielded in non-abusive fashion.
David Bailey
I also think angles and demons exist in realities near ours. They can interact with our reality only in extreem circumstances, but when they do it is unseen and ultimately part of Gods and Satan's larger plan. Aliens no doubt exist too, the bible and other religious texts allude to them, whatever power they have, even if it is power over the fate of this earth, they are still slaves themselves to higher unseen powers who have power over them.
Levi Edwards
souls use physical bodies to learn to become more like god. on a never ending spiral

Honestly i cant back up this at the moment, cause i dont have the energy lol. But yeah i have alot of views on the universe as you can see in the thread, and it goes pretty deep, and im not saying im right at all lol, but from all my knowledge i have gathered in my life, reading ridicolous amounts of old "pointless" philosphy as someone might argue, feeding so many dumb ideas hours of thought, my conclusion is that everything is stuck in a loop.
I like to see it as kinda like Sisyphus, the guy who was forced to roll a stone up a hill, only to see it roll down and do it all over again for all eternity. The thing is, is Sisyphus happy or sad doing it

Lots of things you could simulate; how a newly designed encoding of some DNA would perform in a certain situation, etc.
Charles Brown

Yes I agree. But it's difficult, there is a lot of inept or evil people who should not have power but do. The more people these 'bad actors' have power over, the more damage they cause. There are many such 'bad actors' right here on Sup Forums.

Am I? "It is one thing to fear God as threatening, with a holy reverence, and another to be afraid of the evil threatened. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."
You seek empowerment, which diametrically opposes humility, and meekness to gracious creator who gave us life.
Shame that I sin? Shame that I have sinned. Shame that I am a sinner.
I depart from my sin, there is no shame in that, only honor and righteous diligence. --------------------------------------------------------------
Now you say this is not a prison? Tell me how free you are, because you as well as I know that we are NOT here because we are free, we are here because we are NOT free.
Thus the purpose is not freedom, but servitude, now to whom you serve is to your own discretion, but remember you will "live" with that choice for eternity.

I don't believe God gave us Free Will and dinosaur bones and vague, arbitrary, multiple conflicting visions of his Design as some sort of RF Skinner reward/punishment box.
I do believe there are actions which lead to growth, positive development and expansion of the soul and things which do the opposite. I even agree largely with the Gnostic conception that this reality is controlled by the false God, but the name of that false god beyond the ones given should be known as Ignorance.
People must learn for themselves what is right, it cannot be forced upon them. Him who is righteous, let him be righteous stille. Him who is filthy, let him be filthy still.
It is overcoming temptation that will set a person free. It is overcoming attachment and fear that will set a person free.It is acceptance of what is and righteous action that make consciousness better.

Gnosticism is interesting, le demiurge but I mean I dont man it seems like they were on to something...but something happened >see lighthouse of Alexandria.
I think Chrisanity has the closest understanding of this reality, and the realities beyond.
We can agree to disagree because many distain from adhering to this so called "religion"
I think the only way to develop and further your understanding is by fearing god...Really think about it...not fear as in the normal sense of the word...but fear of his unquestionable judgement.
Im not trying to get too religious but when we are discussing the nature of the universe, the two are contingent upon each-other, just like yin and yang.

Agreed. With the exception of the money-changers in the temple, Jesus taught through ultimate compassion and pointing out the cruelties in men we often do not see.
What I think followers of Christ have taken from that is an imposition by force of morality on people and cries against degeneracy, when it is living the clean and faithful life, defending your right to do so, and following in the example of Christ knowing we will always fall short.
It is why the fear-mongering and fascism of this board upsets me so much. A monogamous family life of healthy righteousness is not necessarily easy, but it is not being prevented. In enacting cruelties on those who sin, we throw the first stone, exactly as Christ told us not to.
It is of course the case that actual evil must be punished. The abuses of power are being exposed more transparently than ever. Many of those doing the exposing are themselves just as bad. Dugin's version of traditionalism and the actions of the Russian state are not on the side of good, though many have adopted their values in misguided crusade against their brethren.

>why make a simulation this shit? To punish us

The Buddha was visited by many different demons before his enlightenment. Christ confronted Satan directly and spent 3 days in hell before his ascent to heaven.
The purveyors of sin have power because people choose to sin. Sin is not forced upon anybody, it is offered. Some are through violence forced to act unethically, but most do it of their own weakness and volition.
It is the choice of every individual to follow that which leads to prosperity or that which leads to ruin. The spiritual failures of American Capitalism are as much a reflection of the people as the leaders. For better or worse, Donald Trump is THE national personification of the American character at present. Perhaps this is the wakeup call needed for us to be the better versions of ourselves. But the targets of persecution selected by many of the communities on this board are not the real problem. The real struggle is in living well authentically. I believe it is still possible, even with the odds stacked as they are with all possible temptation. I see in my life people making the best to make their way and leave the world a better place in their wake. They come from all paths.
Nicholas Miller
If this universe is a simulation it would stand to reason that whoever/whatever is simulating it may simply be simulating every possible different universe they possibly can just to see what happens. The entire span of our universe from our perspective could be done from start to finish in a brief fleeting moment to the simulator.
John Perez
I truly believe this is it, the lonely God theory. I can see myself coming down here to experience what being separated from myself is like. I love the process of "leveling up", not being "end-game" all the time. And I imagine the whole point is that overwhelming awe you feel as you climb up each new step of the infinite ladder back to God. Like the first time something ever truly blew your mind and you're just dumbstruck with awe for like a month. I can imagine wanting to experience that over and over.

>spiritual war You know, I've noticed that. I actually have a fun little theory to go with it too, but it's sorta hippie-tier and you may think it's retarded. Here it goes anyway: the majority of people I've met who did any sort of "tripping" (be it shrooms, DMT or large quantities of LSD) ended up becoming spiritual. Compare how different drugs are scheduled and how much time you'll get for them. Why is it that stuff that's not addicting, yet "opens your chakras"/"brings you back to God"/"lets you witness the source" is super fucking illegal? Who or what doesn't want people to become religious? Dunno, could be stupid, but sometimes I wonder about stuff like that.
We're all misguided user. But when it comes to Sup Forums - well, on one hand you'll have some extreme shitposting, but on the other you'll also have some insane displays of goodness and compassion. People are just tired of the evil surrounding them, that's what it comes down to I think and so sooner or later we start pointing the finger. If we manage to point it in the right direction, great, as you've said, evil gets punished. Unfortunately we could also be wrong and then the implications get rather scary real fucking quick. But for now, everyone in here has my support, even the total fucking assholes, because I don't want free speech to disappear in my lifetime.
