Final version: I noticed that there was one more that I missed: Kafr Batna. The darker green line behind these cities is what the frontline will look like if the SAA is able to blitz the cities marked with red stars because of the Shabiha. As you can see, it would not only de-facto split the pocket in half by fire control, but it would also sandwich the urban areas in the pocket - meaning it's likely that Duma will be the last bastion to fall (be liberated).

>Major breakthrough: Syrian Army, rebels open first crossing in Idlib
BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and rebel forces have agreed upon and opened a new crossing in the Idlib Governorate, a military source told Al-Masdar News on late Tuesday.
According to the source, the crossing is located to the west of the Abu Dhuhour Military Airport and will be under the observation of the Russian and Turkish armies.
The crossing will be used to allow civilians to travel between rebel and Syrian Army held areas, while also providing Syrians a way to conduct commerce in the Idlib Governorate. Ten of civilians have already started crossing to government-held areas in order back to return to their hometowns in eastern Idlib.
This will be the only crossing that will be open to Syrians, as the previous Morek crossing was closed by the rebel forces.
The Kurds are going to be shitting their pants when they see this.

Why?

Interesting. Thanks for effort. Seems like it will be easier than i thought.

If the Turks and SAA signed a deal that was approved by Assad, what else have they negotiated? Control of Afrin post-OB?

It's not a rocket science Assad and Erdogan have some agreement since first Sochi talks. Kurds clearly do understand that they're fucked.

>Crime is a result of poverty; less poverty = less crime. Wut? We now have the best standard of living since tsarism and the crime rate is still high.
In the Republic of Tuva, for example, the level of homicides goes off - 37 murders per 100,000 people. It's Africa-tier!

I'm starting to think the kurds will rather prefer to be genocided than surrendering to the Syrian Army.

>I'm starting to think the kurds will rather prefer to be genocided than surrendering to the Syrian Army. Best possible outcome, solves the problem forever
IMO American advisors/leadership is pushing them to this position, they are likely being threatened with losing support if they cooperate too much with the SAA/allies

Everything between Turkey and Russia and therefore Syria has been settled since the start of afrin op, this is the meaning of olive branch. The Su-24 shoot down was probably a US backed operation to disrupt this.
Gavin Gutierrez
Thermobaric weapons are a hell of a thing. There’s probably hundreds of Jihadis who’ve been vaporized and suffocated in their bunkers.
For those of you wondering about all the the reports and pics you see of civilians being “gassed”, they are just the unlucky bystanders of a thermobaric bomb or missile burning their very lungs and getting getting pulped, hence the breathers you see them wearing.
If it was chlorine gas they had been exposed to, their eyes would be gone. Chlorine blinds and turns your lungs to goo. Not one of these civilians is seen blinded, or gurgling to breath. It’s a complete joke.
Connor Sanchez
Theoretically, Assad can make an unexpected move - to give the Kurds independence. This will provoke Turkey into full-scale hostilities against the Kurds. The US will be forced either to leave or to completely ruin relations with Turkey, which will theoretically force the latter to withdraw from NATO.
Win-win strategy.
Andrew Hill
reminder that if the east ghouta offensive continues, trump will surely bomb assad

Nah. Putin wont let that happen. In the end he, Erdo an Assad will have to sit to a table together and make some deal. I dont believe Putin and Assad will allow breaking territorrial integrity of Syria. At most, Erdo will be allowed to stick his fingers into Syrian politics a bit and maybe some economic deals and stuff. At minimum he will be allowed to genocide Kurds.
Landon Walker
>Assad can make an unexpected move - to give the Kurds independence I don't think that would help him to get every inch back.

Before the sectarian propaganda went into overdrive the Iranian revolution and government model had lots of support in Sunni countries.
well Pakistan and Afghanistan are already Islamic Republics
I don't think the Islamic Republic model would work in Arab countries, because Arab countries are mostly Arab in identity, and have Christian and Muslim populations, along with alawite and druze populations who would not accept an Islamic Republic. Countries like Egypt, Syria, Algeria, and formerly Ba'athist Iraq, have the right model for Arab countries, i.e. a secular Arab nationalist country who's primary identity is Arab, not Islam.
But when you go to the eastern Islamic countries, there's way more diversity. Like, Iran is only 50% Persian, the remainder are Turks, Kurds, Azeris, Balochis, Tabarestani, etc. Pakistan is 50% punjab, and Sindhi, balochi, pashtun, etc. Afghanistan is half pashtun, half persian. These countries don't have a single ethnic identity, their national identity and source of unity primarily comes from being Muslim, so an Islamic Republic would work best for these.
