The manga has trigger discipline and makes it clear that it was a lesson that Chii should carry a gun, as they discussed earlier. The anime made it an idiotic scene to bait you into thinking shit was going to get real.

Yuri has a Type 38 rifle(even though the sights look like a 99 but it uses 6.5), an M2 browning, a T34 half buried in snow, a TU-95c Bear, the muzzle break to what looked like an M18 Hellcat, and some tank half buried in snow. It had slanted armor. Kind of has the chassis of a T-44 but the turret looks like some british heavy tank or early MBT.

Also there is pic related. A Chi-Ro or a Ke-Nu? doesn't really look like a Chi-Ni.

yeah their height seems to change. The last image they look like they stand about 5 foot tall. The tank itself is about 7'3". Even if you sat them next to the tank their heads might come up to above where the top of the tracks are which would be about 5'2" at best.
