The darker tone has been foreshadowed since the painting chapter and she made attempts to fix Sureaus motivations when they met Namari. It hasn't been that many chapters since then, but the manga itself doesn't have that many chapters.
Not to mention nobody likes Kabru but he's a firmly planted part of the story no matter how much we complain about him. None of the things that user complained about were created after the red dragon. The story is progressing naturally and probably isn't going to change back.

This manga has long since abandoned any pretense of just being a comedy. If you've read Kui's anthologies, you can see that she's as fond of more poignant, thoughtful stories as she is of silly comedy stuff. It's very much in the realm of possibility for the manga to end with Laius accepting Farlyn's death and moving on.

Learn what foreshadowing is, manga slowly shifting the tone doesn't change the fact that story was made with silly premise.
