Fighting in the war was literally the best time of my goddamned life. Shit is so fucked up and pants on head retarded in the civilian world that life was unironically better while in a blazing desert getting shot at and tip-toeing around IEDs. Life in war is simple.

You just focus on accomplishing the mission. Literally nothing else matters. You hate your co-worker? Doesnt matter. Maybe have a fist-fight, then go back to work. Pure and simple. No whiney bullshit, no girly snarky internet rants and effeminate water-cooler rumor sessions. You just punch eachother in the face a few times then go find a gun to clean or gear to prep.

If somebody fails to perform adequatley theyre just left behind inside the wire doing something pointless. No diversity hires, no quotas, no shitty employees coasting by on a wave of reprimands and excuses. If theyre a stupid useless piece of shit everyone just tells them so openly and sends them to burn garbage or something so the rest of us can get on with accomplishing the mission.

Fuck civilian life. I'd rather go back to Helmand or Ramadi than deal with having to pretend im excited by a job I hate where I lie and tell the dumbest weakest most incompetent people I ever met theyre wonderful because they have a vagina so HR says we arent allowed to say anything except fake compliments and patronizing amazement over accomplishing basic human tasks.

OP I disagree but more to the point, the problem is you're focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. Lol no. Modern war is light years from even Vietnam. All my deployments never lacked for creature comfort. As well we had kill count ratios of 100s to 1. Also you get to see the effects directly of what you do. Its a lot of responsibility, but incredibly fulfilling.
