What is the point registering when they won't win any seats? They are waiting until they gain a somewhat significant number of supporters so that they can go in with a bang, thus creating a surprise effect that will give them some media attention that serves them publicity. I don't want to sound like a typical bitter loyalist, but it's not going to happen. At the next census I'd expect the NI population to be about 45% prod, 45% catholic and 10% atheist. In 2031 catholics will be a majority but a slim majority, and something like 25% of Catholics don't want a UI. I think that number will only rise. Then there's the question of whether or not Dublin could afford it. Then there's the question of what the reaction of militant loyalism would be. Personally I'd prefer an independent NI, with everybody represented and everybody's rights guaranteed

I honestly don't know, if all the republicans in NI disappeared, then it would be alright. We wouldn't have to put up them doing a wee victory dance and we could probably negotiate a cracker deal. Some form of autonomy for NI, strong position in the Dail, probably get massive gibs from the UK for fucking off etc. Ironically though, the biggest obstacle to unity is northern republicans. They'll openly tell you that as soon as a UI happens, they'll force us out, or wipe us out. We look at what happened to the prod minority in the south.
