Why do people think Togashi is a bad artist?

Why do people think Togashi is a bad artist?

For one thing, that girl's bangs hang off way too far away from her head. It looks stupid.

newfags think that every panel should be like kusoaca's overproduced soulless samefaces.

>Girl

post the turkey

Kurapika is CUTE!

>kusoaca's
Who?

Not enough porn

O

Because of the concept art, which aren't even used. Otherwise they're lying, lol

Are we even sure he drew that instead of his wife?

His wife doesn't draw the manga. Besides, it looks like any ordinary Togashi drawing.

why doesnt his wife help with the fucking manga so we can get more than 10 chapters a year

I also hate Togashi for that.

She does.
Through stress relief....

MY

REDDIT

His art deteriorated severely and never recovered. Even his "good" stuff is mediocre compared to even Kishimoto shit

That's cute.

I'd say that applies to Kishimoto more

Kishimoto is a good artist.

someone post the panel of Naruto and his dad doing the father-son fist bump

I don't think he's a bad artist. I just think he's getting old, which is causing him to often not have the energy to make his panels look good. You can clearly see the man's talent when he goes all out on his pages.
I really wish that he would hire some people to draw the series for him (under his direct supervision and creative control obviously) so that he could stop going on hiatus and this series could have a hope of being finished before he dies.
Sadly he seems too proud for that and insists on working on it himself even though he's clearly been having a very hard time with it due to the various problems of old age.

hisoka but with kuso for shit.

>kusoaca's overproduced soulless samefaces
Explain

>It's only been 7 weeks of hiatus

Think it's less that people don't want to help Togashi and more that he doesn't want it. He's expressed feeling self conscious in his art compared to others' while still having a drive to do it himself. I'm guessing this is true even as he ages and gets worse in health.

Brainlets think that you need to have detailed drawings that take half an hour to draw a panel. His art is fine.

because he is the laziest artist around. but lazy != bad

im pretty sure one of these is a sandshrew

This post is so wrong, almost as wrong as that drawing.

Because he is simultaneously a great artist and a mediocre artist. If he actually applies himself his art is great. But he rarely does that and is more than willing to throw out awful sketches. Most other artists would have some shame. Pic related.

It must be done.

More like brainlets judge his abilities as an artist purely based on his most rushed and poorly drawn chapters and completely ignore the good stuff.

He's fucking 51. You make it sound like he's 80.

He's not a bad artist, but he's not a particularly good one either. He's pretty middle of the road. That image you posted is one of the most flattering ones you could have picked.

People only say he's a bad artist because sometimes he just give up trying all together, but most of his art is average.

He's well above average at the very least.

...

Thick volumed hair was really popular in the 90s, which is when Kurapika was designed. Now audiences prefer thinner, flatter looking hair. It's just the evolution of trends.

He's a tracer that's why

I think he just can't focus on regular panels. Give him some interesting stuff like weird Berserk monsters or a turkey and he'll do it well.

Pitou-chan kawaii!

not a good artist
not a good writer

Yu Yu Hakusho is fantastic; you have shit taste.

Among manga artists? Sure, he can draw, and he can draw well, but that's his job. In that picture Netero's face looks creath with it's high detail, but his hands and arms are low detail with sloppy shading and indistinct shape, which is really common with Togashi's hands and arms if you look at other pages. And that's fine, but if that's your example of him at his best then it's still lacking.

If you count Attack on Titan as the bottom rung of manga art, and Vagabond at the top, I think it's accurate to say that Togashi falls pretty squarely in the center.

I can tell whoever assembled this image has never read Level E

> Vagabond at the top

>that right upper arm

its high tier, the faces, expressions, clothing, nature, movement.. all very good quality.

After re reading Berserk this panel doesn't get any close in quality to any of Miura's even on his early days. Togashi simply draws terrible for a Mangaka standar

...

Because they don't know shit about art and cannot fathom that effort =/= skill and that publishing first drafts while his hand was broken doesn't mean he can't draw. They also don't realize how much their experience of the story is influenced by his paneling and composition, and continue to insist they like HxH 'for the story' rather than the art.

I love his hatching, wrinkles and lines in drawing creepy scenes. Absolutely visceral.

Cant stick to schedules. Should be killed by yakuza already desu

What a shitty image. Here.

Because it's inconsistent. One panel is detailed, the next is a sketch. The same character looks quite different from panel to panel. The anime looks way better. That sort of stuff.

This looks even worse desu

Imagine being Togashi's assistant. Your boss peaces out for half the year and you're out of a job.

Togashi is no Picasso that has to be understood with special glasses. He's simply inconsistent. 90% of the panels from his recent published works don't even have a background, just a doodle of the character and a x5 size text ballon to fill. Togashi has been a sacred cow for too long

Those Dragon Quest games won't be played on their own

>Togashi has been a sacred cow for too long
I'm not sure he's ever been a sacred cow. People have been talking shit about his art for years on end.

Kusoaka is My hero Aca guys.

...

Pika is not for lewd.

Because they use his drafts, scribbles, and sketches instead of real drawings in the manga.

This page is garbage because in the wild this much action cant possibly happen. Animals would be wary of each other. this is school knowledge. Here they just kill each other and smaller animals dont even give a single slightest fuck. 1/10 page.

>"best shonen" author
>can't even draw properly
Kek.

>Attack on Titan as the bottom
Isayama's art is way better that Togayshi.

Neither can this dude.

...

But My Hero Academia art is slightly above average at best? Literally nobody like that manga for its art

>They also don't realize how much their experience of the story is influenced by his paneling and composition, and continue to insist they like HxH 'for the story' rather than the art.
Not gonna say HxH doesn't have good panelling for important scenes but it's not some stark feature of the manga that makes it stand out from its peers.

>Literally nobody like that manga for its art
You would be surprised

>These aren't standard creatures that can be judged by the behaviors of recorded and observed animals. That's a fucking stupid claim to make.

Like the other user said, I can tell alot of you kids never read Level E to know that him not drawing backgrounds isn't particularly new.

The manga is overwhelming, how do you say it? generic? The plot is generic, the art is generic, the character development is generic. You can call it "play it safe" or " by the book" but that series is white bread as fuck. It doesnt do bad but it doesnt have anything special either.

Its art is the kind that you can find anywhere
