Maybe it is. Maybe using a simple os prevents adware/spyware/malware from perusing or corrupting your PC. Maybe typing ping due to repetition is faster than alt tabbing to a program that measures it. Maybe a simple os allows programs to utilise more hardware such as the processing time and ram that would be consumed by a more user friendly os. Maybe the simplicity of it helps them remain focused on other things than the os. Maybe it is better to be good at something than to adapt over and over to evolutions in design. Maybe things are more pure when they expect skill.

Shrinks can't help people. Their practice is the opposite of help. If he told them problems they would have called him all sorts of names and at least drugged him. If he was naieve like most people should be they might have convinced him thinking was hearing voices, and that shocking the mind out of him would clear that up. They are an extreme wrong. But like most wrongs, it's just people doing their job. Laughing at his problems might be helpful, commiserating that you'd gone through something like that too. No problem should be treated like a powerful force, nor their response defective. If someone has a problem they should be talking to who might help solve it, not someone who will consider the perception of a problem to be the problem.
