When he was unresponsive they realized he was dead and left him there hoping he would just snap out of it. When his body started to rot they fed him to the pigs to try and get rid of the evidence. Might be because of technicalities. I remember a case some years ago where a psycho married couple kidnapped a random young woman from the street, raped and tortured her in their van and finally the husband strangled her.
