I don't think Russia is as afraid of the West as you might think it is. When Putin unveiled Russia's new nuclear weapons and displayed Russian warheads heading to Florida it was a clear sign of challenge. The poisoning would be too assuming it wasn't a false flag to keep pressure on Russia. US and consequently Western hegemony is waning. This is when shit starts to get interesting as other countries begin to challenge the hegemon's power.
