I doubt it. Back then they might have still been weakened by the seal, not to mention Mel only started fighting them after Escanor nuked them and then just kept the momentum on his side by constantly disabling one of them so he could 1v1 the other. Mel was also helped by the fact that he knew their abilities and had a strategy for dealing with them, which allowed him to exhaust Glox's healing without letting the two recover.

I also think people are hyping up Chandler too much. He's a top ranked demon yes but so are the demon bros and apparently all the commandments aren't too far from the top either since only high ranked demons have 7 hearts. Chandler was doing well against the Sins because he had counters for each, now it seems like he's decided to stop relying on magic and wants to turn this into a brawl instead. He's going to get wrecked.

Also, I should mention that it feels like Nakaba has unity between different races as a central theme of his story. All the sins for example are a different species. Remember the flashback where the humans healed a demon only to be killed by angels? It was basically saying hatred gets you nowhere, it's all pointless. 4 of the commandments have already joined up or sympathized with the human side and having Zeldris meet with a former lover who has been living with humans for years might help him grow as a character and see that his hatred was wrong.

That is until angels show up and see that the demons are now living in Harmony with the humans so they decide to annihilate them all. Humans and demons living together does help create a possible conflict with the angels for the next arc.

What are you talking about? Mages are incredibly overpowered. Just compare Vivian to the other holy knights with comparable power levels. She wrecked the lizard that Diane was having trouble with in 1 hit and could teleport a group of people around Britannia instantly. Or how about Merlin vs the pre-powerup Sins. She would've defeated all of them and even managed to take down a commandment that had 8 times her powerlevel. And now Chandler instantly disables Merlin and Escanor while debuffing Gowther and Diane while also having spells to counter King's attacks and melt through Diane's defenses. He's basically a master of all trades. The reason we don't see mages that often is because they are really overpowered in this setting.

Demons as a clan probably have a long way to go before they make peace with others, because the Demon King is one of the potential final bosses.

Mera only jobbed when she started physically fighting them in her snake form. Merlin even says that she nerfed herself by not using her magic.

Based on what we've seen so far the demon clan appears to have about 5 times the military strength of the goddess clan. What kind of ace in the hole is the goddess clan hiding? What could possibly have kept their stalemate holding until Mel's betrayal and the other clans allying against the demons? Even 3 archangels weren't able to keep 2 Indura at bay and that's almost all of their known strength against only a fraction of the demons. They must have a huge reserve of unrevealed forces or some kind of trickery, like magic nukes or anti-magic weapons, hidden somewhere. Maybe Excalibur or Escanor are somehow related to the goddesses as well.

They had to ally with the other clans to compete with the demons. That's the whole reason Stigma existed. That said, based on what Zeldris says to Dolor about the demon's being the "freaks" of the world, I'm pretty certain they had a lot of people from other clans mixed in with their own as well.

Well, it looks like goddess magic is very effective agaisnt demons, we haven´t seen them using ark on anything but them, so maybe that´s why the things were even.
