The world in general is wiseing up to the power of meme warfare, so the future will primarily consist of shills memeing and counter-memeing eachother while trying to cook up ideas on dedicated forums you have to sign up for and can be banned from if you are exposed as a shill of the opposition.
Non-partisans will have to retreat to some other obscure website where they will be left in peace as long as they don't cause too much trouble, the way a government might tolerate some crazy anarchist gun-club as long as its members are just LARPing out in the middle of the desert or whatever. Sup Forums signed its own death-warant by becoming relevant, the same way practically everything loses its authenticity or whatever made it great to begin with once the mainstream discovers it.
The history of the internet in general is like a Western where the first pioneers were truely free to do whatever the fuck they want, but by and by more people show up and move in and the government follows them eager to interfere and regulate and discourage anything which does not conform.
