Two weeks ago, my girlfriend of 12 years revealed that she’s been seeing someone else for the last two months, and that she has decided she wants to be with him. The guy is the little brother of her boss, a couple years younger than her and obviously feels like he’s hit the jackpot. She’s even admitted that before the revelation, they spent the weekend together in my place while I had to be away.
My response was not anger or confusion, as I knew she was capable of doing this - having cheated on me 3 years ago. However, at that time she was truly sorry for her mistake and, as tough as it was, I forgave her - having come clean before we moved to what was our third home together. I also acknowledged that my degenerate behaviour during that part of our relationship must have been tough - and, even as a young woman, she displayed real commitment to stick with me while i smoked weed, played vidya and generally neglected her.
This time though, in hindsight, the signs were there - we were having sex less frequently and we would usually end up sitting around staring at our phones or talking about the state of the world. But due to my pretty intense job plus the long daily commute, my mind has been pretty clouded.
Although she seems to have made her mind up, I can tell you she’s never been one to make rash decisions. She has been receptive to all the information I’ve introduced her to since I began lurking in this place and noticing things IRL. We would discuss things and laugh about all the stupid stuff that’s unfolding. But now I think her confidence and inflated ego has corrupted her morality. She even quotes ayn rand, jordan peterson and eckhart tolle etc in an effort to rationalise her decision making. It must be pretty self gratifying being the only remotely “red-pilled” girl in her office - surrounded by corbynistas (this new guy included) who think she’s the edgiest girl in town.
Financial independence may also be another factor in this, and she is now moving to a new place a few minutes away, to live on her own - able to support herself for the first time. Totally forgetting the fact that I have provided basically everything to get her to this point. And now her indifference is now almost the hardest part to deal with. It really feels like I’ve created a monster.
My issue is this - my loyalty to her was solid and my plan was to marry her and have a family. We would’ve instilled in our kids all the conservative values missing in this clown world. And after all the discussion over the last couple of weeks - she still feels the same.
However, what she has done is completely counter to everything she stood for, to the point where she has become the same disloyal, independent, feminist piece of shit which she herself despises. And even though she thinks this is the best decision for herself - I believe this kind of cognitive dissonance will be temporary, and that her new relationship has a slim chance of success. Once she realises what she’s throwing away, she may want to return.
But what do you think my outlook should be on all this? How should I continue to move forward? And in the event that she should wish to return, how would you react?
People don't change much. Find someone who gives you what you want AND need, that you don't wish to change, and most importantly, who treat you well, user. It's not this one.
