Americans. Why you have only 2 parties?

Americans. Why you have only 2 parties?

cause fuck you

Why do you have the colors reversed

Blue is supposed to be the nationalist color and red commies

Why have only two boxers in the ring? The fight would sure be more interesting with at least 4 or 5.

>Gadsden flag
>doesn't know American party colors
this better be bait

That was a media joke about 30 years ago.
ABC, CBS and NBC all changed the colors at random, but then they all settled on Republicans Red and Comm^H^H^H^HDemocrats Blue.

We don't have a proportional parliament, but rather several hundred first-past-the-post local races, where the winner goes to serve in the federal government. This means we have representation with a strong tie to our local area, but at the cost that first-past-the-post systems tend to distill to two parties that are very similar and basically teeter back and forth.

We have a lot more than just two
parties, it’s all’s about what party has the most voters. And for some time now it’s been democrat and republicans. In theory if a majority of democrats switched their party
To green next year, the Green Party and Republicans would be the two big voting blocks.

We really don't its pretty much one party masquerading as major parties two with minor differences and a few outsiders in each. Its all fucked

They're both run by neoliberal plutocrats who want to strip the country of its sovereignty in favor of centralized global power

>burger education
Literally every country in the world except America identifies conservative/right-leaning parties with blue, and progressive/leftists with red.

We have a bunch it's just that there's a winner take all system fot elections so once your party has momentum and money they don't lose it.

But He's right.

Blue was the colour of the Republicans for a very long time until one election several news channels reversed it.

Because 20 parties is fucking retarded. Politics like Netherlands and Italy are a laughing stock. Have a second turn and narrow it down to two parties, otherwise you will never have true governance and instead cuckoldry alliances, like Germany.

because we don't have a parliamentary system. Our coalition building happens before the elections. We actually do have more than 2 parties, but they get so little amount of the vote, they aren't talked about too much. Jill Stein was the Green Party candidate.

Anytime there has been a significant amount of the vote for a third party (Ross Periot, Ralph Nader for recent examples), it splits the vote for one of the parties and the other side wins (the ppl who voted Periot or Nader get policy makers for the exact opposite of what they wanted). 2016 was interesting because both Trump and Bernie Sanders were basically 3rd party candidates running in mainstream parties. The repubs were especially afraid of Trump splitting the vote if he ran as a 3rd party. Ross Perot splitting the vote is how Bill Clinton got into office.

It's easy for (((them))) to maintain control when there is the illusion of choice. Look at how any 3rd party candidate gets completely fucked by the media as soon as they get any traction.

They used to switch back and forth every four years but decades ago the kike media realized they couldn’t associate “Red” with the Democrats.

Fucking big eared little weasel Perot. But for him Clinton’s would be nobodies.

Same reason there are only two guys in the ring in a boxing match

Because we are fat and retarded.

Wha the hell. This system is retarded. Why you still use it?
2nd amendment
They have two parties to have illusion of choice

itd be harder for the jews to control any more

holy shit youre dumb

I think having two parties is an inevitability in a country like the US. Because people will compromise on their principles and vote for the more powerful party.

So basically every election is just an intern in a one party system?

Not really considering alternatives. Too many parties split power and form coalitions, often violent ones like in the Weimar Republic.

Party members do not necessarily support the party on all things. So we do have about four or five parties in terms of political issues but not in terms of ostensive allegiance. Hence "Republican in name only" RINOs.

I know it's confusing to euros who can't think in terms of individual people having individual opinions and individually acting on them.

I have heard others say it fits the American outlook better. We like having definite winners and losers. Same reason soccer will never be popular here: too much teamwork with not enough individuals winning or losing.
>that's bullshit but I believe it.jpg

The real answer would probably have to come from somebody who has had more civics than me. Why the founding fathers chose a presidential system over parliamentary. I'm sure they gave reasons. My best guess would be the trouble the colonies had in getting everyone to commit to fighting the Revolutionary War and the trouble with the Confederation (America had a Confederation before they had a Republic) had in maintaining a standing army and collecting taxes to fund the federal government. The President is also the Commander in Chief of the military under our constitution that created the republic.

>illusion of choice.

In short you're better off voting for a very popular party you agree with 75% than wasting your vote on a small irrelevant party you agree with 90%

Like its any worse then the alternative.

There's only one party. The "two party" circus mimics sporting events to distract the mouth-breathing masses with a false dichotomy that keeps the one party in power.

This. The color scheme was only finalized in 2000, and Blue is a historical color associated with Conservatism and thus often used by the GOP.

they both suck why would we want more?

There are different factions within each party and constant bickering that goes on because of it.

A lot of political maneuvering is thus done to gain support within your own party, like how Hillary had to try and corral the 'progressive' and traditional Democrats to help get the nomination. It ends up watering down the platform people run on so that they can try to appeal to everyone and not just their own small faction within one of the two major parties.

It's why it shocked so many people that Trump was able to just waltz in, give the finger to the usual political process of appealing to those within his party, and get the nomination in spite of them.

To answer the question, the US having a "First Past the Post" system means that a two party system has to occur to work in the electoral setting.

Third parties exist, but because of the nature of the system, will never gain prominence unless a major party fucks up and is replaced in a realignment.

Because thinking is hard.

it's more like you fucked yourselves tbqh

fpbp

Stupidity+democracy

Why don't you do some research to find out the answer yourself?

In the US A third party will only sap votes from another party. Individual Democrat or Republican reps can have wildly different views on topics than their party. It is considerably more varied than a 5 party country like Canada, where one party is strictly Quebec-Gibs and the other 4 are lefty, even the Tories.

it should be only one. Look at China

yeah but America is different
and show me another country that has the Gadsden flag

They couldn't figure out how to flip a coin with three.

We'll end up like italy with a hung parliament making things more divided and impossible to get anything done.

>Americans. Why you have only 2 parties?

We don't have enough Jews to infiltrate and control another 2.

Attached: 2 party system 2.jpg (500x358, 102K)

Because it’s difficult for a 3rd, 4th or nth party to be of equal standings and to have any sort of presence on a national level. Basically, choosing a person who isn’t affiliated with the dems or reps is a wasted vote and it’s rare for there to be an exception to this.

We have more than two parties but none of the others really matter because Americans are fucking idiots who just blindly follow what ever party they follow based on their demagraphic

I like this
