Battle harem died after a year

>Battle harem died after a year
>Meanwhile isekai is still goung strong?

When can I expect a revival of battle harems?

A year? More like a decade

DXD season 4 is coming.

2019.

>a year

That show had 10/10 character design
I wish he'd get hired more

We Isekai battle harems now

Never. You'll never see Battle Harem again.

Nips only really liked battle harems because it was a great way to self insert as a guy whose cock pheromones were so intense that the most powerful women in the world became drooling sluts when you approached them.

You still saw a little bit of "Battle Harem" in Isekai with stuff like Arefureta and Smartphone, but as soon as the idea of buying meek-ass slaves came about and was popular - You can blame Shieldbro for being a great example - the sorts of people who write this stuff are now busy with stuff like:

>"Summoned to the magical world, My power was to make all females my lewd toilet?"

and

>"In the Other world I'm an Orc with a harem of drug addicted slaves!"

Rather than actual stuff. Battle Harems were hard to write because a lot of them never had these so called harems fight effectively at all. The writers only said they were powerful. As soon as they fought even a muggle with a dick somehow all those years of accuracy training failed them, or their sci-fi suits failed to work, or they were distracted or there was some other shitty limitation.

It's much easier to write weak women who fawn over the Writer's Self-Insert cock if they're weak and not "strong".

>when the whole board can accurately tell how new you are to anime

Adding onto that, If you look at the currently popular Isekai, the burgeoning genre is "Summoned to another world with Mind Control, I'm Enslaving my Female Classmates" kinds of stories.

They're redpilling themselves.

Isekai is mostly shit, but it's still less mind numbing than battle harems.

You could always try writing one. There's a reason why so many Japanese authors wrote battle harems - they're easy to make.

>there wasn't a single battle harem about people who literally battled with their harems

Highschool DxD

Battle Harems are "Stations of Canon" fanfics with random names

Pretty much, yeah. Like I said, anyone could do it with the least amount of effort possible. I don't have a creative bone in my body and I could make one fairly easily.

Also, thanks for using TV Tropes lingo. Now I'll be stuck on their website again.

Busou Shoujo Machiavellism is getting an OVA in about a month, if that means anything to you.

No, I don't mean like the harem are people. I mean they're like Pokemon, with no actual desires or personalities beyond their archetype. You can't have them in restaurants

Okay I'll write one, the ultimate Battle Harem LN ever. Be back in a year.

Pokegirls. A whole subset of fanfiction which is literally just Pokemon turned into girls you can fuck. Just beware - once you go down, you can never come back.

Godspeed.

I fucking hate the Japanese and their rape and ntr fetishes
Everything goes back to WWII I fucking swear
If they liked vanilla we wouldn't be in the messes we're in

Date A Live is coming.

But then that's fanfiction. I want a big budget anime that's all about a generic MC enslaving women and using them to fight his battles.

If I had it my way, it would be animated by SHAFT and the cliffhanger (because it won't get a second season) will be that it turns out the entirety of the universe's Congress is actually the main villains harem, and he launches nukes

So Shirsurakuen but with a male MC and less dark?

More Hundred and Mahoka.

battle harems are dog shit 100% of the time
isekai is only garbage 95% of the time

battle harem didn't die after a year, it just merged into isekai. what this guy said:

There's pic related.
Also DxD and DAL, but they're getting more seasons because they didn't flop, which can't be said about 90% of other battle harems.

Forgot pic

You don't get it at all, user.
The mind numbing is the fun in battle harems.

At least battle harems sometimes had different settings
All those isekais are set in the same shitty fantasy world

>Battle harem died after a year
Battle harem adaptations existed for almost a decade.

>When can I expect a revival of battle harems?
Never. Any battle harem that gets popular later on will only get popular for any other reason besides the harem part (e.g. good action, interesting characters), and it probably won't even be considered a battle harem until someone points it out. It's like how nobody today ever thinks of labeling old series as "isekai" until someone points it out, because the thing that made that series popular wasn't the isekai.

What's that all about?

Exactly. ZnT is the most Isekai thing ever.

...

>John Carter of Mars
>Gulliver's Travels
>The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Thing is that all of those books were defined by their unique worlds, with the overpowered MC being just a bonus. With modern isekai, that's reversed.

That's not Isekai, that's time travel.

...

The lion the witch and the wardrobe gets really overt with its jesus imagery towards the end and kind of weird.

A lot of isekai are time travel.

What's this?

Well considering that most battle harem are straight shit, I'm glad.

Lisha best grill.

It's called fucking google it

TLs when?

After Bahamut translations.

Fuck.

>Lisha best grill
You spelled Kirihime wrong!

That's not Krul.

They're all fucking gorgeous. Except pink, she's an obnoxious slut.

Side note, why is there not more porn of this show?!

What is that expression trying to convey?

Ovulation

ayy bby wud u lik sum fuk

>moe isekai highschool battle harem medieval cyberpunk

I'm pretty sure isekai will last longer than Battle Harem. Battle Harem adaptations really exploded after Infinite Stratos, however, basically no battle harem that attempted to follow it actually was successful (at least not in disc sales).

The still running franchises are mostly older than it. All the attempts to create another IS failed, and in spite of that anime studios still insisted year after year. In comparison, isekai has actually gotten multiple successes so far so it's very likely they'll last much longer.

Date A Live was a moderate hit at least, though yeah most other battle harems flopped.

What's your take on shieldbro's flavor of slavery user.

I mean look, in worlds where you time travel to another era then that means magic and shit existed back when. But then the mysticism went into decline as that world became more reliant on technology, so you can't really call it isekai. The world just ran on mana rather than electricity back then. The only way you could call it isekai is if during the time travel the laws of whatever this concerns swapped it with space travel.

What sort of of successes you think isekai has done throughout it's run?

There's literally nothing wrong with ntr or rape kinks

Besides the fact it's disgusting and degenerate
Vanilla always wins

hopefully never

this

they're in the same fucking high school setting

Confirmed for not reading that much isekai. Meek slaves aren't the most common slave trope. There's the tsundere enslaved former princess or ojou-sama kishi that's far more common. There's the human hating oppai elves and of course there's the combat slaves which uses battle harem tropes. Akso, besides slaves, battle harem tropes are often used in isekai or even straight fantasy in parties, the fighting parts are usually filled by the harem especially the tank. It will never die out. Even the school battle harems since new LNs are still being made.

But what if the slave master is both the healer and the tank?

Shieldbro is the one of the few isekai that has a specific lore besides the generic sword and magic JRPG fantasy (4 heroes, religions, waves of destruction, etc.) So it's already atypical (and one of the best). That doesn't stop it from using battle harem isekai tropes here and there like the obligatory kemonomimi combat slaves.

>That doesn't stop it from using battle harem isekai tropes here and there like the obligatory kemonomimi combat slaves.
Yeah i know.

Both will die to make way for the yandere renaissance

Having a member of the harem being able to turn into a car-sized balls-kicking cart-pulling ostrich-chicken that you can ride like a horse was a new one though. Can't wait for the anime.

Firo is more daughter to naofumi than the rest of the other women. and remember rishia is a thing, still aiming for itsuki even after the betrayal. that said, i'm kinda glad they give him a redemption arc in the future.

No Lazy King bros here? You should give it a read
>16 chapters only
>Interesting mesh of the deadly sins and skill tree based mechanics of RPG's
>Chaotic setting
>MC (in the chapters he's awake) and side characters are interesting and quirky
There's more I'd like to say but it would spoil too much. Hopefully it will get a manga adaptation soon

The book had all the tropes and shits of an Isekai

It's still not an isekai by definition.

Why was Infinite Stratos such a phenomenon

Yes user, please enlighten us

sure but Rem is worst girl

>Pokegirls. A whole subset of fanfiction which is literally just Pokemon turned into girls you can fuck. Just beware - once you go down, you can never come back.
Are there any recommended stories? Preferably something for someone who didn't care about the series past gen 3.

There is though.

>Battle harem died after a year
>A year

Were you in a coma for over a decade or something?

What about battle harems where the MC battles AGAINST his harem?

sekirei

Also exists, sort of.

But the Mc doesn't have a harem or does he? The white queen would make them unexist.

She tolerates them since she knows he knows she'll kill them all if he ever does anything with them. Volume 7 also added to his problems in a way I'm not spoiling

is it about him discovering he's a hypocritical fuck and going all AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'm fine as long its harem.

No, he fucks up far worse than that.

cute pig

Oh wow, what can be worse than finding out you're not any better than the queen

You just have to wait until they manage to model a battle harem so well that the battles are indistinguishable from the real world. Then there's no more room for isekai unless you choose to bring in magic

Well if you want a major spoiler. He creates an Unexplored-class summon specifically to kill the Queen, succeeds, then finds out the Queen tricked him into doing so after she comes back anyway and now he has double the crazy to deal with. He intended for the new summon to only be effective against the Queen, but actually killing her caused it to change, and now he has to work with the Queen to fix the mess he made which is exactly what she planned.

Damn, what a fucking idiot.

Not him, but series like SAO, Re:Zero and Grimgar, from the top of my head (pretty sure there are more) managed to became sucesfull and critically acclaimed, while highschool battle harems never had this huge hit that allowed them to evolve beyond guilty pleasure. IS would be the closest thing, but in the end falls a bit short.
Also, the sex thing the other user mentioned, let's be honest.

SAO isn't an isekai, but I get your gist.

SAO is an isekai though

But it isn't. An isekai denotes a separate dimension-world concept. Virtual reality is different.

It's no different in terms of the story. Game worlds are just as much isekai as alternate dimensions.

That's because isekai is a setting so
>Game worlds are just as much isekai as alternate dimensions.
is wrong, and it's a gross misuse of the term.

Virtual reality is not different when you are trapped there and IF YOU DIE IN THE GAME YOU DIE IN REAL LIFE.

Isekai is a setting that includes game worlds

Yes, it is. Simply saying it isn't different because of some arbitrary condition doesn't change the definition. Also, typing is superfluous and annoying.

Virtual reality is not a subset of isekai according to the latter's definition.
