i really only made this thread because i want legitimate reasons to hate the bay area and the only way i'd get responses is by sounding like a shill. but so far you guys have given me no real arguments. there aren't any dumps in the bay area besides oakland, everyone is rich, most of them are white, and i still get jealous even though i do live in a really nice, expensive area. my county is actually one of the richest in the US (i think it's the third) and i still want to move to napa or sonoma.

The nicest parts of the Bay area costs several million dollars to feasibly afford and the average "mid" income of bay area dweller is a water closet sized apartment that you'll have the pleasure of paying possibly up to $2000 for.

It is basically Brazil, or a present day cyberpunk dystopia where the richest live very well and everyone not in the top category toils just to pay the bills, except for the parasites and leeches that plagues the whites in the state. The only serious recommendation for California is if you are already obscenely rich or have a job opportunity like tech, otherwise all you'll be trading is an obscenely higher cost of living for the same or worse standards of living.

I came here from the East Coast for a (((finance job))) and live comfortably on 96k salary. If I was tech, it would be more like 180k. If you want to come out, go for it, just gain the in demand skills.

I just said "like tech" there are a variety of upper degree business and tech work one could do that would pay handsomely. The point still stands that you need to minimally be a highly educated professional to get the most out of the "luxury" of the Bay Area, otherwise life is underwhelming and you're paying more money for everything.
