So the only way for him to recoup that money is over 20-30 of selling shares.

I'll call out your initial premise that life is "fair" first. The distribution of wealth will always be unfair, and has never in the history of humanity been anything close to "fair." The absolute closest we've ever come is in tribal societies, but even then, individuals could still be rich or poor, and the leader typically had the most resources.

Now, even assuming we are trying to strive for a "fair" society, is Jeff Bezos' wealth unfair? You could have picked a lot of millionaires who's wealth is easier to say is unfair. The Walmart heirs in particular stick out. But Bezos built Amazon, a thing which didn't exist before it. He invented an entirely new market. If anyone deserves to become wealthy for something, its an inventor of something so popular. He grew Amazon from an online book store to being the single largest online retailer of items. Period. Saying Bezos' wealth is unfair is like saying that whatever gains an artist gets for their work is unfair. Bezos invented something, and deserves the wealth it generates. Just as an artist deserves the wealth from a painting or piece of music. A creator is always entitled to the wealth of their creations.
