I think we should institute a universal basic income(UBI)
It can be a way to deal with automation, and can help struggling families.Although there should be a regulatory body that makes sure deadbeats arent abusing it. And veterans should have a higher UBI. The money shall come from an increased tax on the rich. Im thinking the UBI should be $1000 per person, starting at the age of 18. Thoughts?
This better happen in every country in the world at the same time or the rich are just going to move to Spain.
Well since we are in the second gilded age, we wouldn't have to raise their taxes that much for the UBI. Also pulling out of a few occupations could help the government pay for it.
The U.S already has UBI except wealthy people dont recieve it or if you already make a significant amount there is no point of you recieving it. But instead of calling it UBI we call it Welfare
So when you go to spend your luxury money at a restaurant, who will be working there to serve you? Robots everywhere? You think that will happen in your lifetime?
This luxury money is made by rich people and forced at gunpoint to give to you for no reason other than you exist, by the way. You sound like a terrible human.
I don't think that it will, but it is better to have it set up early rather than later. I don't think we should have welfare as it is to easy to exploit and those who need it cant get it.
Also there are some families who have multiple jobs but still struggle to make ends meet. That extra thousand a month could really help them.
A UBI would still be cheaper than the wars we are in, and i have at least proposed a solution to paying for them instead of wanting our country to enter debt.
And those same rich people have more money than a person should ever need. They could easily be taxed more and still have more money than they could ever need.

There are a lot of issues with poverty, especially on the west coast of the USA, but handing out basic income isn’t going to fix that. It will only serve to further undermine the middle class which js hollowed out as is.
