I kinda get the vibe there was a coup every fucking week and theres no real confirmation prior to the akatsuki involvement being known until Ao confessed at the kage meeting being the guy who discovered the possession.

Ironically Zabuza was also pretty much the only actual ninja in the whole series. The only reason he was killing anyone was because he was getting paid to do it.

Like every major character that has even a modicum of relevance to the story, he's a freakish outlier and legendary ninja throughout all of the history of the Naruto world. Easily top 100 fighters ever. Part of why he's brought back during the ninja war as an edo tensei zombie.
I mean, even Ten-ten is a fodder ninja DESTROYER. Zabuza who is leagues better is a legend. Even Kakashi says so.
The thing is in Naruto the next villain isn't necessarily stronger than the last one. THey also did well to Zabuza by making him be fought with Kakashi rather than having Naruto or some people near his level deal with him.

But Orochimaru was way stronger than Zabuza, just like Pain was way stronger than Orochimaru, Obito was way stronger than Pain and I frankly dropped it after that but Madara was probably stronger than Obito and the Kaguya asspull princess was stronger than him too.

Obito is easy top 5 in the entire series. His Mangekyou haxes him so hard along with having Senju genes so just on the off-chance his eye hax doesn't work, he can just Izanami himself back to life.
In Zabuza's first fight, had Naruto/Sasuke not interfered he would have killed Kakashi with his Water Prison jutsu. He's pretty damn strong as he was able to survive a failed coup attempt. Probably like top 50 in the series.

Now kamui is a very powerfull ability and how obito uses it is very intresting (more skill then raw power) but kakashi still beat him

but the hidden mist timeline has always confused me; how long was madara in control of the village? or was it only ever obito? because I think its said that madara was the one to set up rin's death, so he was somehow in control of yagura already? if so, when did yagura get the three tails sealed in him? or maybe he was in control of the third mizukage? and we know the guy kisame saw must've been obito.
Kakashi beat Obito when he couldn't abuse his eye hax. Also Izanami is such a broken ability that you really only have to use it once or twice and you win anyway.

Nuruto was at its peak for me at the Pain arc (manga). I was getting an "oh shit" kind of vibe as everyone was dropping left and right, like early in Gantz, but then the epic trolling happened when Nurutu talk no jutsu'd Nagato into reviving everyone. It was all downhill from there.

His whole arc was how a shinobi must rid themselves of emotion and become tools, mere weapons of war. The whole point was to show the genin team 7 that being a ninja isnt all glory but in fact ruthless life or death scenarios.
Naruto subverts this idea by showing how Haku died protecting not because of being a tool but because Haku had a heart. Its why Haku didnt instantly kill Naruto/Sasuke because Haku was too kind. Zabuza then realizes the gravity of losing Haku. Zabuza was human, not the "Demon of the Mist". HIs coup was simply because he did not agree with being a tool of the current Mizukage. Not good or bad dogma.
At the end Naruto says he will find his own ninja way, one that isnt just being a tool.
Haku had genius potential but was too kind.
This is why it hurts that Naruto didnt end better than it did and is now remembered as being the "prequel" to Boruto

Haku was a child prodigy with good genes (the key factor to success in the Naruto world), but at that point in the story, no. Zabuza was definitely stronger than Haku.
The implication was that Haku could grow to be stronger than Zabuza was, but that's a couple years down the line at least.

Why? Personally, I felt that the series had a linear increase in quality over time, up until sometime a bit after the Pain arc, after which it dropped off. The first half of Shippuden was, to me, the height of the show, and unironically some of the best television I have ever watched.
