so much for mars, keep in mind this in just in low earth orbit too, who knows what will happen in open space between planets.

until we figure out to make fake gravity then no shit we arent leaving the planet. you cant be floating around in zero gravity when you space travel, that's fucking retarded.

if you can introduce artificial gravity through rotation all should be well. just spin the damn thing on the way there.

Just make mutants, who gives a fuck.

this, just make a ship like the one in Avatar. It was the most realistic long distance science fiction ship I’ve seen

just spin the space capsule nigga lmao

You think we'll be going to space with biological bodies?

We're

Accelerate @ 1g 50% of the way, accelerate in the opposite direction @ 1g the last 50%. Fucking brainlet.

The telomeres stretched and then shrank again upon returning to earth. Not quite as dramatic as the headline suggests.

Telomeres are expendable "extra" bits of DNA to keep our cells from making mistakes when they make new cell. Every time a cell divides it leaves off a bit of the extra DNA to make sure it's not accidentally adding something like cancer or a third arm into that fresh new cell. Once the "extra" bits are used up the cell can't trust that it won't make mistakes, stops reproducing, and "you" start to break down.

Pretty sure the same effect can be reproduced with just a diet change. Considering the caloric restrictions of space food I'd say that had greater affect on the DNA than space travel itself.

nah brainlets we need that thing in dbz that goku and vegeta use to train for frieza

its not just the lack of gravity guys, were talking about a 7% change in DNA within 1 year just in low earth orbit. this is radiation changin DNA.

People will just have to evolve physically and as their institutions will have to in order to survive and proper elsewhere in our Solar System.

Are you capable of reading? The changes included lengthened telomeres (a good thing), and epigenetic changes that help with surviving in space

Typical Don Lemon story.
This article is very misleading. The actual DNA itself did not change, but rather the expression of genes. This is just simple epigenetics, which is a very common thing that happens to people here on earth. For instance, if you start lifting weights, your genes will undergo modifications (chemical groups being bound to the chemical DNA) that may increase production of proteins involved in building muscle mass.

>oh my God, you adapt to a new environment
Oh wow, so scary.
Fuck off.

>lead
by the time they reached mars they would all be going nuts from lead poisoning

It just means they need better equipment
Or embrace becoming a space mutant

A new type of human will come

Just take some gravity from earth and plant it there. Ten years later they will have so much gravity they wont know what to do with it.

It's not the same as our super sensitive DNA it's affected by earth's magnetosphere.

Who gives a fuck mutants people.

yeah we're actually having serious conversations here. you can't plant fucking gravity unless you are the creator of the universe from a dimension we havent discovered yet.

thats not the dna, its permanent read the article

That doesn't stop you from leaving.
It stops you from coming back.

Well one of the shuttles orbited higher than usual and the astronauts started smelling fried chicken so the little DNA changes in low orbit aren't that big a deal.

No, fuck you, get me off this goddamn planet.

People don't think I'm serious. I'm fine with living in a space desert that can't possibly support life. It can't be any less F U N than modern video games.

We need to make space ships out of lead or you die of radiation poisoning. Good luck sending a ship made out of lead into space. God intended us to stay on earth.

go and bask in the unmolested radiation of the sun if you are so adamant that you can be what you are not

I wish we lived in the solar system from Firefly so I could find a nice Border planet to live on and be a rural and suburban retard in peace.

our dna has always been changing, the universe itself has been naturally selecting for eons, it's actually pretty sick that our dna changes in space, the best dna will be altered in the best way. we need 10000000x more people in space to test this out.

Ive always wondered if long term space travel would render you infertile

Just ship all the flat earthers up there but they might break a window to get out.

It's just so retarded it might work

Maybe we can hire people to hold things down. It would solve two problems, unemployment and the fact that there is no gravity.

Lead isn't that bad and is still a commonly used material and is safe to machine and cut if you use gloves.

Aliems always have weirdo organic stone looking cigar ships maybe they're on to something.

Attached: 1515844640625.jpg (1000x800, 172K)

As long as we stick to our flesh and blood bodies, we're stuck here. Unless there is some amazing discoveries of sci-fi tech like gravity control, teleportation and stasis, our human bodies are simple incompatible with the accelerations, decelerations and time scales inherant to space travel.

The only answer is for those of us who wish to conquer space to cyberize themselves. To go full robot. This allows you to endure the drastic changes in speeds, the distances, the time scales of space. And as a bonus, removes the need for food, water, air, etc...

But will those people still count as humans?

One problem with that: zero G means there's going to be lead particles floating around the spaceship.

Anon5 was right.

we still have to try

this planet and solar system wont last forever

Don Lemon is a sub retard.

>Scott’s telomeres (endcaps of chromosomes that shorten as one ages) actually became significantly longer in space. While this finding was presented in 2017, the team verified this unexpected change with multiple assays and genomics testing. Additionally, a new finding is that the majority of those telomeres shortened within two days of Scott’s return to Earth.
people who didnt believe we can manipulate human aging btfo

Considering most astronauts eventually lose their vision after they come back, I can only imagine that the DNA change is a result of space radiation damaging it.

It doesn't mean we can't go into space for good, but we'll need to develop better shielding technology before it'll be safe.

for the to mention the whole genes changing to and back from in a span of years proves rapid epigenetic shifting in response to environment which is extremely important and somewhat unproven so far

could be particle damage avoidable with miniature magnetic fields

>Aliems always have weirdo organic stone looking cigar ships maybe they're on to something.
The ships are conductive, not made of lead.

I think the last universe at some point after a seemingly infinite amount of time and mutation space consisted of nothing but tardigrade-like creatures that filled every inch of the universe from end to end. They cannibalized each other and consumed all matter other than black holes till eventually everything collapsed in on itself and burned up in our big bang.

Attached: space smells like burnt meat.png (520x1119, 768K)

That is a very astute observation. Faggot.

I've read theories that particle damage could be shielded with
very high-voltage electric fields around a ship. With current propulsion methods that'd add a truckload of weight.

EM fields won't block gamma/xrays, only charged particles.

solved by space elevator or zero g construction facilities with mining drones
elevator is improbable
construction facilities would cost 10-20 ISS worth but their operational value would be incredible since once you got it running it could expand by its own power

oh yeah, no, OP, you're retarded, you reminded me

spending time in space actually repairs your telomeres, which means your life should be lengthened

but yes, the downside is it mutates your DNA which increases your risk of cancer, but it still could overall have the general impact of lengthening peoples lives for all we know so far, and thats a very likely possibility

maybe its because sleeping in zero gravity is super comfy?

who knows, they dont know why it increases your telomere length yet, but that is a very good thing to happen, so dont worry, we already knew being in space fucked up your DNA from radiation but it also can increase your lifespan for some reason, and that is a mystery that we should continue studying for our potential benefit

The digitalization of consciousness is the only hope the space meme has left

But how would space dust and radiation affect a computer in the long term?

Wow this guy sounds like a PhD

Only the elite will have access to this though. You think Jim Bob or Pajeet is going to be allowed the opportunity to live forever? Nah.

youtube.com/watch?v=MnvMJckEqYE

Attached: 1520819543442.jpg (590x461, 37K)

Dust isnt a factor, radiation would be, but it would be much much easier to shield against and much lighter, reduncancies would be possible instead of impossible like with meat

I guess monkeys do become super intelligent when sent into space

genetic manipulation is
digitised consciousness is more prone to particle/em/gravitational damage unless you make some sort of elastic computer
biological shit handles these things better and has "messy" error-checking meaning it can barely fail even if half-dead

negatively unless completely shielded or it repairs itself
especially the more complicated/dense it gets

That idea is completely retarded. Trying to separate your consciousness from your brain is as stupid as thinking you can drink dehydrated water.

The biggest problem with space travel is that currently we're still dependent on rockets for travel. Alien crafts are electrically-propelled, and use free-energy systems to power them. A full alien disclosure would mean the total collapse of a lot of energy-related industries as well as a complete breakdown of national borders. But unlike the end to nationalism the globalists want, there'd be no way to stop people from fleeing the global government. You'd be able to run away forever without stopping.

youtube.com/watch?v=MnvMJckEqYE

Attached: 1520718364760.png (523x528, 679K)

Garbage
I agree somewhat about strechyness, good way to put it, but there are still many more reduncancies even in current space faring cpu than in the human body.

We really aren't going to be leaving the solar system until we develop faster than light travel and right now that's theoratically impossible. Conventional space travel to neighboring galaxies would take thousands of years so the planning before hand just to ensure we actually make it there would be impossible.

That doesn't solve the radiation problem.

The technology has been around since the 50's.

I'm not watching that retarded bullshit.

Just because the footage is fake doesn’t mean the Earth is flat. Hey user, you’ve seen the moon before, right? You know why it is sometimes a crescent or it’s sometimes full? That is because of our spherical planet’s shadow! If the earth were flat then the moon would some times appear to be split in half (due to the edge of the flat planet casting a different shadow at certain angles). This has never occurred though, because both objects are spherical and thus cast circular shadows no matter what angle a light source is placed at.

You’re welcome. (I still think NASA fakes footage, though)
