Have you paid attention to the story? Akane does it fill an emotional void trying to feel something through other people. Her inner self doesn't even understand why she keeps going. She is then able to connect with someone the way she never did before and felt the she never did before. Her reasons for changing partners like gloves are gone and the next thing she does is break it off with her boytoy instead of cheating. And Mugi notes that she is no longer the same and he arguably knows her best.
