This whole story sounds very weird to me: why would the military (or conservative groups that support them) aim to take her out like that? I see no way that would be beneficial to them, she wasn't a threat and making her a martyr is much more problematic to their plans.

Just make sure to have a gate at your house entrance, put a locker and chains on it for reinforced security, put bars on your window, never be out in the street after 19:00 PM, never use anything slightly worth more than $100 on the street (Shoes, Watch, Cellphone, Laptop etc.), Make some local friends that might consider you trustworthy, just in case, and you'll be just fine
