It really wasn't. The girls were way worse and the story sucked.

Because Oreimo, while being a poor adaptation of its source material, is the best anime ever created.

Kirino was just a much better character. More depth, more engaging, more believable. Not that she was some profound example of character writing, but at least that was there. Sagiri or whatever was pure otaku wish fulfillment

This but I guess it's more relatable because when it gets meta about Otaku culture it does so from the consumer's point of view. And Kyousuke only really knew Kirino and MANami from the start, and only the latter blatantly liked him. There is a bit of justification and character development to see why the girls fall for him.

In Eromanga, MC is a fucking 17 year old LN "author" with a harem after interacting with girls. It's blatant pandering of the lowest level, only enjoyed by the most pathetic of the lowest common denominator, and the MC is insufferable.
