American imperialism has had negative effects on those who they invaded as well as GB with its massive colonial empire. Colonialism and imperialism was wrong but it appeared to be acceptable at the time it occurred. Bringing otherwise underdeveloped countries and territories a new religion and the concept of democracy was all well and fine but it destroyed the local cultures and created many problems that still last today. The important aspect of this is that when you invade another country and place your values, religions ideas and way of thinking onto them you destroy all the native cultures and they never recover from this. All of this was wrong and we appreciate that and know that today. We cannot justify what was done but we did lean many things from this.
We learned never to destroy ethno-states and impose of religion on others and by this we also know that we cannot allow this to happen to us as well where we allow alien cultures, religions and a value system alien to us to take over our culture. We know this as we did it to others and we should never do this to others or to ourselves for that matter again.

well, as mentioned already, you had interest apparently in the New Deal era, so you could go for economic red pills there about keynesianism and central banking and how that likely only delayed economic recovery - quantitative easing and the printing of money. the mises school i linked you too has better explanations than i could hope to give. also increased central control over industry and food production (fixing prices etc) led to farmers literally burning their crops in the field or letting them rot b/c of quotas while people starved. or the federal government employing millions of men in "make-work" jobs like constructing parks and whatever they could think of - equivalent to digging a hole and then paying someone else to fill it in. how that was financed by printing money and big picture how it's a waste of labor that the markets didn't demand, but made it seem like gov was doing something.
Or, just thought of this now, do one on how the value of a dollar has eroded over time, ever since central bank was created (see pic) in 1913. compare this to the value of the silver denaurius (sp?) in the roman empire and how the debasement of their currency lined up with the empire's collapse. emphasize points about the central bank and no gold standard causing the withering away of it.

I am mostly Norwegian, but I do have German roots. My mother is half German, and her maiden name is from a town in Germany (which I have visited)

Besides, what Nazism did was take that past perceived "glory" and manipulate it to conform to Hitler's vision. That's about the only thing Hitler was good at.
