So, I believe we can all agree that while the majority of anime TV series are generally shit, the animated movies are on the other hand masterpieces that puts to shame any western productions and the likes, correct ?
So, I believe we can all agree that while the majority of anime TV series are generally shit...
No.
Yes. But all the hardtry "oldfags" will have you believe that everyone leads a life as jaded, vacuous, and meaningless as they do, which is why even shit anime is good.
Perfect Blue is a decent movie but also way overrated by people who asign too much value too pretty pictures. There are various movies as well as TV anime series with better story, characters and direction.
I wasn't talking about Perfect Blue in particular.
I'd still say there are more great TV series than movies in anime, though movies of course have better visuals on average and it's difficult to make a fair comparison since there are much more TV series.
I agree
Yes, but only the artsy ones, not any of those famiy/teen drama garbage like 5 centimeters per second.
she's so pretty
>5cms per second
>garbage
Kill yourself.
Not him, but it's severly overrated. Yeah, it's really pretty, but aside from that, it's nothing special. Calling it garbage is a bit much though, I agree.
It's basically your average afternoon soap opera as an anime, what do people see in this movie?
>I'd still say there are more great TV series than movies
This is true, but it's a medium thing. Movies are hard to do well, anime or not.
Perfect Blue is such an overrated self-masturbatory nonsense
I mean yeah it is well crafted but the whole themes about fanservice is wrong you're objectifying and abusing women boo fucking hoo the bitch shouldn’t have taken the part if she couldn't handle it. Most of us have tougher jobs than being an otakus masturbation material
When was the last time you watched it? Look past the pretty visuals, it really isn't that good but it was hyped up a lot back when it first came out.
TV is secondary to film no matter the medium no matter the country no matter the time. It's pretty much a universal truth.
That is true that there are less Movies but they usually have more passion and flow than TV anime simply because they're shorter.
Redline is a goddamn masterpiece and I've never seen any movie or TV show come close to the level of skill and passion put into it
Perfect blue is a masterpiece, you gaylord plebs
I dunnno, man. Stuff like Kaiji or Akagi is basically the incarnation of passion and flow to me.
What makes it one, then?
Even as someone who prefers movies to TV series there are WAY more worthwhile TV anime series to watch than movies.
Define worthwhile
it's the opposite for anime
I don't think so
Anime in general is subpar, along with most modern media. The west overall polarized to thinly veiled propagandizing, Japan to half minded escapism. Anime is a lens to an infantile state. Childhood regression minus the substance or self understanding.
At its best no other medium comes close. But it's still diamonds among piles of coal.
Is this one of these threads?
This is Sup Forums, not Sup Forums. There is no complex about liking anime here.
>Perfect Blue
>overrated by people who asign too much value too pretty pictures
>Perfect Blue
>pretty pictures
Really dude?
Sup Forums is dead.

Reminder that when his daughter unlocked his desk she found a shitload of his hand drawn furry transformation porn
We knew he was a furry long before that happened.
nice boobsnake
A very adult look at Otaku culture, if we use the term Otaku to mean a compulsive obsession with something. Plus, Western audiences can relate to the premise because celebrity worship here is fucking ubiquitous.
It raises a lot of questions and would seemingly answer most of the important ones, but few go unanswered, for example: Did Mima actually kill anyone? If she did, how many people did she kill? And that little scene at the end can get you talking with someone for hours on end.
It leaves an impression, it merits analyzes and discussion, it's very fucking pretty for a movie with a low budget, and Mima is extremely cute. What's not to love?
lol
As expected of such a cultured and refined gentleman
There are more masterpieces in tv anime than in any films. On top of that anime tv is much better than anything western tv has produced. Berlin Alexanderplatz, Sopranos, Mad Men, Twin Peaks, Dekalog, The Prisoner and I, Claudius are the only things that come close.
That first statement is definitely not true
Is Mad Men really THAT good? I saw S1 and never bothered to finish the rest
You're only realizing this now?
