Western show parodies/makes fun of anime

>western show parodies/makes fun of anime
>all the tropes they make fun of from 90s anime or otherwise outdated

I mean, if you gotta make fun of it, can you at least make fun of stuff that current day anime actually does?

Anything after 90s is shit, so they would just be kicking a dead horse.

Tell me TWO (2) animes that weren't shit after the 90's

In fairness anime hasn't been relevant in the west since the 90s

>>I mean, if you gotta make fun of it, can you at least make fun of stuff that current day anime actually does?

you mean like 80s/90s references?

TTGL is from the 00's.

Why is this ? what ended the anime craze ? Did the Nips get too cringey for us to watch it without shame ?

Don't know if bait but that's an Ashita no Joe reference.

This.

How out of date are you? Anime is literally more relevant in the west now than ever

name one good thing to make parodies of in modern anime

Pubes

That's retarded, but so are

Lemme tell you about anime in the west: watch your local Barnes and Noble's magna's section. It was at it's peak size in the 2000s after the US rode the Toonami wave. Then it shrunk to (depending on size of store) just a couple of shelves very quickly in the early/mid 2010s, and it's now climbing again.

Anime is regaining popularity over here but it's nowhere near what it was in the Toonami era in terms of sheer popularity. It's distributed better over the population now though, since the Toonami kids grew up.

Maya was so cute

Hidamari Sketch
K-On!!

Will someone ever explain this correlation to me?
Is it like Iori?

Because you'd have to be a huge nerd to understand something like this:

And that actually played on Fox late at night during that period when they were trying to compete with Adult Swim.

That seems like a perfect example of parody done badly. They just throw everything they can think of together and make no effort to produce something worth watching in its own right.

theres big tots tho XD

It's something that happens on nip TV too, the hero yoshihiko for example, has an "anime" segment and it's exactly that. People just don't care about you hobbie, man.

That's because it's the older stuff is the most widely known. They could reference more modern stuff, but then they'll limit the audience of the joke.

yeah, its not like millions of kids were watching naruto or anything

What a hipster

The anime popular in the west were generally action oriented and action cartoons as a whole stopped being popular in the west. Now everything successful is some shade of comedy.

All western anime parodies are parodies of Speed Racer and Pokemon.

SnK? SAO? Rezero? The only anime that got mainstream lately are action and edge.

What about Dragon ball or Sailon moon?

None of those are mainstream to the general public.

SAO and SnK were. Even my normalfag friends know about them, idk in which universe you live.

>SAO
>niche

Do you think the writers are hardcore weebs?

If I am a hardcore weeb, there is no reason to assume that others aren't.

Maya was so fucking hot and she's got some of the best porn out there. It ticks all my boxes.
The anime was genuinely hilarious too.

Re:Zero was decent.

It's great at least someone liked it. To me it was a disaster. Both other shows from same block were much better, this one literally had 8/12 episodes of inconsequential bullshit, serving only to shoehorn a love interest onto Maya.

The tropes that are parodied aren't even true for the 90s.
The shit parodies reflect is the general Western non anime watching public's ideas of anime. It's meant for the random people who will watch it and think to themselves "haha that is so true! Anime characters are so loud and full of tentacles!"

I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of the animation; most parodies won't even bother to copy the style correctly.

Lurk for two months before posting.

I think he means the GENERAL public. Ones that aren't nerds and don't follow pop culture.

OP is a faggot once again

>animes

Modern anime usually does a fine enough job of that on its own. Most of it is so comically bad that you don't really need to point it out.

lol no. Re:Zero is garbage.

It's been years...

I can still see the pubes

OP is just baiting anyway here. You can make sound arguments about the decline of certain things in life, you just have to be very careful, cause we're always changing. 90s had a lot less shows to begin with. Some years only had a few airing, some of which aren't even worthy of mention. And looking in the west, something like Monty Python would borderline impossible due to the online backlash. Even though it's only a small group of people throwing tantrums, they could force a sudden abortion of any such a comedy series. So you can say we're decading in a sense, that we allow less artistic freedom. Our societies in the west tolerate less.

That require effort

Because that's all their audience knows about anime.

Everything about this post is extremely carefully constructed to trigger Sup Forums so I'm going to call it bait instead of a random wandering Sup Forumsermin.
