REMINDER THAT RUMIKO TAKAHASHI IS A FUCKING HACK FRAUD

As far as the anime goes...

Originally it went with an style closer to older anime rather than Rumiko's

After the show's success they change to something closer to the manga.

Then there's the studio change alongside Oshii's departure, which leads to a more "80s" looking design for most of the cast, like fluffier hair and bigger eyes (although Lum's irises are fairly inconsistent and depend on the animator).

Then the OVAs take a lot of influence from Maison Ikkoku anime design-wise, with the characters becoming larger (due to Maison Ikkoku being about college students rather than high school students) and even more 80s anime looking.

Movie 6 is more 90s somehow, with exaggerated spiked hair that was very common back then.

Some very late official art goes pretty much for Ranma's art style, which has different eyes, although I don't think any animated feature actually used those designs.

In the manga, he's around in the first chapter, but disappears shortly afterwards while Megane and the other three take over. Then after Mendo's debut he returns, but those four disappear from the manga.

In the anime, they give greater focus to the four Lum fans and treated them more like main cast members, so they don't get rid of them after Mendo's debut, and give Kosuke's scenes to either Perm or Megane depending on what he was doing.

Actually, Megane and co make a few later cameos in the manga. The anime didn't acknowledge them though. Like how these three were clearly meant to be Megane and co in the manga, but are just random people in the anime.
