There are creators making some edgy deaths way worse than anything Altair did though, hard to tell if it's not murderous intent from their part (probably including Suruga).

But I agree that simply having characters die in a reasonable way is better than what Altair did even knowing the consequences, one would be a god doing god stuff, the other is someone self-proclaimed god acting like the god of their previously equals. But fictional lives are too cheap in the end, especially when even those who died are still alive in their stories.

Yeah I mean in the end it stayed as a huge problem, there's no way someone could get over the deaths of some of the characters, especially with Mamika and Alice. Selesia's was also completely unnecessary even though they were enemies it's not like Altair could work it out, which in the end she did. They neither undid the damage with Mamika nor vindicated Alice's efforts to avenge her so it was like it happened and that's that. So I think it was needlessly brutal of the story, not her necessarily. I'd rather see everyone be a part of the good ending, not looking through a monitor with a fakehappy personality.

Everything inside the ECF was fair game though, it was literally a trap they created to murder Altair so it was in the realm of self-defense (besides the fact that murdering Altair was morally justifiable). Aliceteria especially, she gave up all of her moral high ground to take vengeance even when the victim wished the exact opposite of that (which was worse than Altair and Setsuna who deep down had a little desire for revenge). And Mamika would be alive even rebelling if she didn't touch Altair's trauma without any tact, Altair simply lost her mind completely and even forgot her plan that needed the character alive.

The characters didn't die after the ECF according to the audience, I don't get why we should accept it. I'd rather an alive Selesia to a dead one every day of the week. For all her omnipotence she couldn't show an ounce of remorse or benevolence against her foes.
