Why was this so controversial...

Why was this so controversial? I never read HxH and dont care to but isn't this basically like a character in Naruto dying and programming a jutsu to revive them later(which has happend many times)?

People though HxH was above that kind of thing

>Why was this so controversial?
It wasn't. HxHfags were just so defensive over it.
So much that people trolled the fuck out of them and made the entire series a meme of the purest gold

its just fun to say,
anyone who harps on this completely overlooks that pitou did the exact same bullshit

I dont read HxH but i suppose its just asspull fuckery and people say "nen can do literally anything now with no bounds or rules".

O

,

because ppl used to treat H x H as a masterpiece above shounen shit

this showed beyond doubt that its the same crap

Pitou's was a temporary example. She was going to finish the fight and was mindless.

Hisoka is walking around dead but still fully aware and capable.

MY

Shounenfags have the memory of a goldfish.
That's the only way they can stand reading the same stories over and over again.

Not to mention Pitou's ability was to control dead bodies in the first place.

>it's just fun to say

SEETHING

This is the nail on the head. Hunter is the Rick and Morty of anime in that their fans over analyze and look way too fucking much into the anine/manga. At the end of the day it's a fucking shonen.
Icicing on the cake is that hxh fans also tend to say that people who don't like it just don't "understand"

This moment was when Hunter became without a doubt the shitty shonen everyone knew it was

RUBBER

>isn't this basically like a character in Naruto dying and programming a jutsu to revive them later(which has happend many times)?
I don't think that really happened. The closest to that I can remember is the Sasuke vs Deidara fight: Deidara self-destructs and kills everything in a 5 mile radius. Sasuke mysteriously survives by summoning a giant snake, mind-raping it with his sharingan, and hiding inside it, while being out of chakra, and all within a few seconds after the detonation.
That was probably Naruto's biggest "O" moment.
O, my giant snake

Subtle bait thread.

why should you be able to use Nen at all if youre dead? you literally have nothing to lose, so how can that be balanced at all?

HxH has been full of asspulls since the first arc lmao. Even YYH had an obscene amount of asspulls.
HxH and YYH are above shounen shit because even their asspulls are genius compared to the other shounen.

Speedreaders

I will never understand why Hunter fags are so defensive of their show

>show

How are the asspulls genius?

wrong

people love to hate HxH for being better than the rest but this right here was the icing on the cake

There's Izanagi which IIRC turns your body into a genjutsu illusion when you take a fatal blow.

Sorry, "way of live"

>people rip on hxh for being literally better than the rest
The pedophile clowns make it extra sophisticated

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand HxH

this, spics cant even begin to understand the depth of hxh

O MY SECRET NUKE INSTALLED IN MY CHEST
O MY LITTLE "SISTER" WHO IS AN OMNIPOTENT WISH GRANTING DEMON THAT I NEVER REALLY MENTIONED AT ALL UNTIL GON NEEDED AN OMNIPOTENT WISH GRANTING DEMON TO SAVE HIS LIFE

I tried to read HxH but got bored because there is no central plot and unlike Faggy Tail its world is boring as hell. Some mysterious ooh scary continent and two boring regular continents.

You just don't understand dude too deep for you go back to reading one piece

...

This is an actual example of a forced meme.
It doesn't matter if the scene was controversial or not on debut, it wasn't until relatively recently that some idiots relentlessly spammed it and it caught on.

A proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. At first, nen was established as a serious power system with strict rules, but over time characters were introduced that would bend, or straight out disregard these rules for the sake of appearing cooler or pushing the plot forward. O MY RUBBER NEN made HxH fans finally realise that their beloved series is at its core no different than Naruto.

>wasn't until relatively recently that some idiots relentlessly spammed it
It was spammed from when it was released.

this

NEN...!!

>but over time characters were introduced that would bend, or straight out disregard these rules for the sake of appearing cooler or pushing the plot forward
Such as?
>O MY RUBBER NEN made HxH fans finally realise that their beloved series is at its core no different than Naruto.
There were even worse asspulls before this one, but you wouldn't know since they weren't memes.

Yeah recently where HxH began autisticly feeding the trolls.

Heck, Indian open defecation issue and lack of toiletries were never a big issue on the itnernet until some Indian on Sup Forums raged on every user who calls India a stinkland. Which was followed by even more Indian anons who retaliates on any user by calling out their war crimes.

Hell, Pepe was a very minor meme until someone started trading rare Pepes on Amazon

>fairy tail's world is more interesting than HxH's
Weak bait.

No it wasn't, I actively followed those threads.

People posted it but it sure as hell wasn't a meme like it is now. That happened far more recently.

These days you can barely tell if someone's 'trolling xd' or actually being serious.

The way I remember is that it got spammed hard when it happened, then it died down a bit, now it is back strong again.

>Such as?
>There were even worse asspulls
Why do you choose to play dumb if you acknowledge the asspulls in the very same post? Kurapika, Pitou, Gon-san and Kite, to name the most prominent ones.

The fuck are you on about? That memes started instantly, the next few days was nothing but "OH MY RUBBER NEN" spam

Huntertards are obnoxious little shits, that's basically the problem.

Wait, India actually has designated shitting streets?

The nen system is one of the most convoluted messes of a magic/power system. Naruto for all it's flaws had a fantastic system in place

None of those break any established rules though.
>Why do you choose to play dumb if you acknowledge the asspulls in the very same post?
I was thinking of Alluka and that isn't exactly nen.

Just go ask Sup Forums they will happily tell you about it

This has been a thing since the shows start user, sometimes nem remains active and even stronger after the users death

HxH is far from being the Rick and Morty of anime. That's Madoka.

THE NUKE WAS FUCKING GREAT
GET OFF

I think it was decent at first, but eventually there was too much of a focus on bloodline and eye techniques. The protagonist being a one trick pony didn't really help to highlight the system's potential either.
Nen at this point is just garbage, you can do anything with it, as long as the plot demands it. Far too many characters apparently spent years on developing useless nen techniques.

>desuarchive.org/a/search/text/%20hxh%20rick%20and%20morty/
>being this obsessed

Originally it was all about training and adherence to the rule system. I was actually really interested in it originally but then they just kept adding bullshit

Why do you keep reposting this thread?

There is nothing genius about demon Yusuke.

Naruto's power system...the one where 'Chakra connected the two worlds' and Obito was able to speak to and give his sharingan back to Kakashi from the afterlife?

Even before it was generic as fuck. Water nature, fire nature etc. Natures having strengths and weaknesses was also pretty lazy. fire > wind > lightning etc.

Who the fuck said it was supposed to be balanced? It's wildly entertaining and polarizing, which is exactly what he was aiming for. I mean, here are, most people in this thread butthurt or inflicting said hurt.

It was an admittedly dumb way to keep Hisoka alive after all the hype that went into Chrollo v. Hisoka. It still followed most of the rules of the series (nen becoming stronger after death) Although I've always been lead to believe that nen only becomes stronger after death if its tied to strong emotions. Pitou's body attacked Gon because of her strong devotion to Meruem, and The Spiders hesitated to kill Kurapika after Chrollo had the nen chain attached to his heart because of Pika's hatred. Hisoka literally just did it because he wanted to see if it would work. Afterwards most people just used it to troll HxH fans since HxH fans are incredibly obnoxious at times because they think the series is somehow above standard shounen cliches, despite one of the biggest, and worst offenders being Alluka/Nanika. That shit right there was even more retarded but everyone gives it a pass for some reason

Seconded. HxH is superior shounen because it entertains the notion of mundane things like guns and nukes having actual power instead of ninja magic/wizard magic that isn't very wizardly/superpower fruits/arbitrary power levels that get dwarfed by the next DLC-like arc.
At some point in every shounen series I wonder, "What would happen if he were nuked?" and HxH actually does it.

The nuke was cool but definitely a shitty asspull.

That was an asspull user.

Naruto's system is fine if you had no eyehax, you just can do magic shit and use elements pretty cool if you ask me.

I do wonder how the hell they invent shit like kage bunshin or shadow possession.

Nukes would fuck up most shonenverses retard, only the top tiers would laugh them off.

Nukes are BORING in shonen unless used to demonstrate how strong a character is.

>and worst offenders being Alluka/Nanika. That shit right there was even more retarded but everyone gives it a pass for some reason
People would bring it up for years, but HxH fans just dismissed it every time, plus it didn't have a simple and elegant, spammable form like O MY.

So he can shit on HxH more. There seems to be a recurring user who does nothing but spam the same dumb comments about how HxH is the Rick and Morty of anime. He has nothing better to do than falseflag as arrogabt HxH fans and then attack his own strawmen.

Seriously, look through the archives and you find many people taking the bait. Its insane how offended someone can be from hearing one shonen be declared superior to another.

I love Wojak

It's like you have no idea why people dislike shonen. It's not so muh asspulls but legitimate issues with pacing ("Draggin' Ball Z"), deriviteness, and characterization. Shonenfags who like BnHA and other shit don't get this and think that finding an asspull in HxH will put HxH on the same level. Just having a theme at all is in the Chimera Ant arc is what gets HxH labled as a " smart shonen." It has nothing to do with fight mechanics and ki blasts. That and the inevitable shit talking that happens when the quality of writing for characters like Kuapica and Sasuke get compared.

I've noticed that, not just the R&M guy but anti-HxH shitposters in general seem to be motivated by someone calling it better than their favorite shonen.

Yet it's expected that normal methods wouldn't work against top tiers. The nuke in HxH subverts the audience's expectations.
Characters are using moves that took their entire lives to master, and then suddenly a nuke puts things into perspective that both humans and super beings can still be dwarfed through relatively simple means.
Not an asspull at all. Netero knew taking on Meruem would be suicide, and he made sure their battle was far-enough away to avoid collateral damage.
He fought Meruem instead of allahu ackbaring immediately for selfish reasons, wanting a good fight. And as I stated above, the nuke puts things in perspective. The audience takes insane powers for granted as if nothing can touch top tiers except god tier mega attacks. But in HxH's case, not only was Meruem, the ultimate life form done in by a mundane human weapon, it was one mass-produced for a world accustomed to casual nuclear war.
I can't think of any other series which plays itself so straight as an innocent story in an innocent world all the while the truth of the world's fucked up nature is hiding as if in plain sight.

>Naruto's system is fine if you had no eyehax, you just can do magic shit and use elements pretty cool if you ask me.
There's thousands of series that introduce elemental type stuff into a battle system and its almost always boring. Not to mention uninteresting.
Rarely did we get into the nitty gritty of soneone developing their ability, it never felt like a real world because of that. Kurapika's disturbing description of how he learned to conjure chains was cool as fuck.

>I do wonder how the hell they invent shit like kage bunshin or shadow possession.
That's why I'll always consider Nen to be infinitely better than Chakra. Every ability you can think of falls under one to two categories and people don't get abilities from reading pieces of paper. There's checks and balances that must be done to become powerful.

>asspull
Literally foreshadowed before it was used, not an asspull at all.

>Netero states the mission might not be completed if someone doesn't die
>makes a point about bringing him to a certain location
>Knov comments that once they've reached said location the RGs won't be able to do anything
>Netero says their battleground is actually a heavy weapon's testing site (ie nukes)

And before you bring up the poison, Youpi started to bleed from his nose several chapters before Palm revealed the bomb contained poison.

idk, I'd rather a nuke fuck someones shit up than to have all the humans gathered around patting themselves on the back while waiting for the dust to settle and seeing the villain standing there unscathed with a smug grin while the pathetic humans are sweating their asses off with shocked facial expressions saying "impossible!"

Hunter x Hunter? Moar like Hiatus x Hiatus! If I wanted to watch a generic Japanese kid's show that will never end, I'd just go watch Crayon Shin-chan

It is, but the difference is that Nurutu is a 2/10 iredeemable piece of turd, while HxH, before this boat arc, used to be a respectable 8/10 series.

People wouldn't bat an eyelid if O MY RUBBER NEN happened in Naruto, because many shittier events and entire volumes of shit writing have happened there.

Was she best girl

It actually was hinted at (in a conversation between kakashi and naruto) that naruto's wind being stronger than sasuke's lightning could be important later on.... but then it wasn't...
>I do wonder how the hell they invent shit like kage bunshin or shadow possession.
Because chakra is basically nen. A lot of the abilities that people have don't even fit into the elemental categories. They just invent random powers that only they (and maybe their children or students) use. Just like nen.

because he literally fucking says O MY RUBBER NEN

well she does have the mazoku blood running through her veins

my favorite is still "Listen up my Nen"

>There's thousands of series that introduce elemental type stuff into a battle system and its almost always boring.
Anything can be interesting if the storytelling is good enough. Similarly, it can be boring if the writing is bad enough. Seeing how one develops a new technique can be very interesting, as you've said. Some series have really interesting interactions with elements too, like for example, distilled water actually insulates really well against electricity, so a bad guy using distilled water against an electricity user would be incredibly smart when sparky thinks you're being dumb.

Elemental roulette has nothing on chemistry, after all.

And all of the HxH threads are started by those who hate the series. All of them scream "falseflagging" and some are blatant as fuck.

They play the arrogant fan and then fans of a different shonen will fall for their crap. Just make a 'HxH vs _____' thread and drop sone bait into it.

BESEECH

Reread what I said. That part about elemental natures was talking about how generic it is, I never called that an asspull.

This arc has the potential to be better than Yorkshin desu.

the proper question is "why do memes form"?

I've yet to find one series (that isn't the Last Airbender, and even they ended up fucking over their own rules) that pulls it off well.

>Hunter is the Rick and Morty of anime
This makes too much sense, we live in a god damned meme-world.

>replying to yourself

Every arc can turn out god tier like the CA if Togashi plays his cards right. CA itself wasn't amazing in the first 40 chapters or so but the payoffs were good enough to justify the wait.

>still samefagging
Never seen someone care so much about a series they don't like.

But how the fuck can rubber nen even do that? I don't think massaging the heart of a dead man will bring him back to life.

Why do you love Kalluto?if he's your favorite little sport, please elaborate. I wonder if Hisoka is going to do anything to this kid.

Pokemon
>distilled water actually insulates really well against electricity
no it doesn't

This reminds me of a very old thread on some forum about Akatsuki vs US Military.
Most people agreed US Military would win

This arc also has the potential to be a mere side-arc featuring none of Gon/Killua, and to never evr fucking end because Togashi will die before it finishes.

Suck on that.

Hisoka 'commanded' his Nen to change the state of the Bungee Gum around his heart (alternating between expanding and contracting) as a way to do CPR on himself.

He wasn't dead, and used Gyo on his vital organs (similar to Gon vs Genthru) to prevent major damage on those parts. His death came from suffocation, so he would still have his brain and heart intact post-death so long as he protected them with Gyo.

Avatar was generic as shit
