A silent voice > Your name

This movie had a way better story, more emotional, a deaf qt, and a damn good climax.

Your Name can get fucked for being overrated.

Also I own UK blu ray with eng dub, ama.

Your name is popcorn entertainment. Silent voice is true kinography

Eng dub shoko nishimiya honestly sounds like kristen schaal with a stroke.

Deaf VA is actually pretty good, but that's just how she played her.

They were both kinda ok

I never liked Shinkai but Your Name was all right and I get the craze around it despite him telling the same story for the nth time

Koe no Katachi has been a dream project, liked the manga and wanted KyoAni to animate it. They did an ok job but cut off too many things, making most chracters lose their story arcs. It would've been better as a short series of OVAs or something

Your opinion < Trash
Also this. I could be braindead and still enjoy Your Name. It doesn't have all the metaphors and drama.

Here’s my question, where’s a dub version I can download thanks

Honestly don't know if there's a torrent for dub yet.

I only know Madman and All the anime UK have DVD and Blu-ray out, so when someone gets a DVD rip online then you can check it out.

In the meantime, there's three clips out.

dubfags go back

better story? All it's about is a deaf girl being bullied and she falls in love with the bully. They end up not even dating. 0/10

Yeah, I loved Koe no Katachi. Best anime in a long time. 2016 was nice in hindsight, you can add In This Corner of the World and Crayon Shin-chan 26 to the list of movies better than Your Name.

>you can add In This Corner of the World

god damn, I need to watch that soon, as well as napping princess and red turtle. I keep missing out on that.

I've heard Napping Princess is a bit iffy, but I haven't seen it. Other two are alright. This Corner probably didn't deserve the Ofuji prize but it's a solid movie in its own right. Red Turtle is eh. CG can't capture beauty in the way the movie needed it to.

Why do you kyoani fags get so upset that Your Name was better received?

when do people assume anyone that prefers this movie over you name is a kyoani fag? It's a more interesting movie that actually makes people reflect on their life and all the times they watch someone get bullied, but did nothing, or worse went along with it.

Because the anti-Kyoani agenda pushers are only slightly more obnoxious than the pro ones. And more sincere.

kimi no na wa is better? all it is about is a girl who wakes up in some boy's body then she falls in love with that boy. they don't even end up dating. 0/10

Why do people who like inferior anime always have to bash on superior anime?

are these threads made by the same people over and over? every day its the same shit again and again. we get it, knk is more jampacked with messages, good for you.

they generally tend to be started by other people, I do show up to every KnK thread though because it speaks to me. You have to remember KnK is currently being shown in US theaters this month and some states in November

Seen these already. You just said you had the uk bd, rip it for us if you’re gonna show off faggot. Here’s my japanese bd in return pleb

that dub isn't really that good, just saiyan

>a silent voice
>girl is deaf, not mute
>implying you can have voice without sound

Kimi no na wa is the actual kino, koe no katachi was terrible tearjerk for the sole reason of triggering primitive emotions. But i admit, it's at least a movie.

Overrated? This shit stain excuse for an anime is overrated, as is the manga. Boohoo, I am a deaf girl. Fuck outta here.

I liked them both

Why didn’t they put her in a special needs class or teach her sign language? Are her parents next-level bullies?

think your so tough are you? take the deaf challenge and go a week with earplugs in, but you won't because people that think deafness isn't a big deal, become sobbing little bitches when they actually have to experience it. You won't go one day before you take them out.

Normal people need to work to support themselves and cannot take a silly challenge like that to prove a point to an anonymous poster on a chinese gameshow discussion forum.

Japan isn’t well versed in that apparently.

...

I need to work because society likes to think "I'm just being a little bitch that wants free handouts" so I gotta do the same shit, with added difficulty.

Mitsuha > Shoko
Prove me wrong.

I didn’t like the ending too much. It felt very abrupt.

I liked your name better.

>there are people in this thread right now actually looking for the dub and nobody is calling them out
Fuck this.

mitsuha is a basic bitch that takes her perfectly nice life with friends for granted, shouko constantly threw herself into the fire to make friends and got bullied for it to the point of destroyed self worth.

it was a 2 hour movie, pacing issues. Maybe one day we'll get an anime adaptation that fleshes it out.

...

so japan has shit taste? who knew?

i had several problems with this movie, but many are probably MY own problems (like the amount of time people wanted to kill themselves)

besides that, the pacing was pretty darn bad as another user said. people seemed to be healing and then off a balcony we go again.

Personally I don't get why some anons want dub instead of sub. No native jap would speak english anyway, let alone american english.

Fuck that.

>Boohoo, I am a deaf girl. Fuck outta here.

Nigga please, deaf girl is cute as fuck. She'd make a perfect waifu.

>You just said you had the uk bd, rip it for us

Ripping DVDs is one thing, ripping BDs are fucking balls hard, do you know how the fuck to convert m2ts files?

I don't care what you faggots say, the Koe no Katachi movie was way better than the manga.

the movie definitely fleshed out the nuances of emotion better.

Any Anons going to the Nashville showing?

I'm trying to buy tickets online but the transaction fails every time with zero explanation. The theater has not responded to my emails or phone calls so I'm going to have to drive all the way over to the sumbitch tomorrow to get it sorted out.

>a TV film better than a true cinematic experience
Hmmm...

>looks like TV film
>kino
Pick one.

Because soap opera writing is retarded. How would you get shitty drama if people did the sensible thing?

The only thing that can get fucked is Ueno, for being so ridiculously sexy,

What is this OP, copied and pasted from reddit or something?

Tell me this isn't fucking cute, go on I dare you.

read the manga ending extra special, it explains her mother's motives

A Silent Voice is the victim of Sup Forums's base contrarianism. The film will unfortunately never be afforded judgement on its own merits.

I find that hard to believe given how obvious it was to somebody who had never read the manga how much of the manga was cut out.

There's no reason why this shouldn't be in the movie.

tl:dr it pls

it was already 2 hours long if they faithfully adapted it, it would be 3.5 hours easy.

tl;dr my child is not normal, but I'll do my best to make sure she has a normal life as possible despite her disability, even if I have to be a demon mother.

No, I don’t. But I believe in you user.

>ama
Could you please kill yourself?

>kino

I would but I don't have enough gin to fuck up my organs.

>tumblr

Get your eardrums raped by a nigger.

For me, the first act, and Shoya and Shoko's evolving relationship which grew out of it, were genuinely moving, and easily the best components of the movie. However, almost everything else surrounding them was superfluous and cloying, and prominent to the point of detracting from that core of goodness. Notably, the involvement of the other kids after the first act only provoked the movie to devolve into low-grade melodrama of the kind I strongly associate with A1 Pictures (Yuzuru notwithstanding, in part due to Aoi Yuki's usual high caliber of performance).

6/10 on the emotional power it demonstrated and the further promise it held, as well as the unsurprisingly delightful visual effort from KyoAni; the rest was chaff.

You too kill yourselves out of Sup Forums.

they were already were at birth, but nice of you to put autistic attention to it.

I don't care how much was cut out, I don't give a shit about any character not named Ishida or Shouko and that's exactly what makes the movie more consistent and thus better. It doesn't fuck around with half a dozen of boring characters or some stupid movie project. It has a focus.
The manga wasn't made better because broccoly-kun had a 100 lines more, it wasn't made better because that bitch Ueno had 30 pages more worth of screentime. But it certainly suffered when the manga started to drag on and the author struggled to come up with new ways to generate drama.

>how do your like your Koe no Katachi adaptation
>just cut the half of my shit out and make it a movie
>say no more

there was no way they were going to comfortably cram 7 volumes worth of content in 2 hours. It could work as a 12-13 episode anime though. glad you're at least honest about the only reason you liked your name more.

Her mother is an awful parent.

she just wanted the most for her child, even it ends up causing her misfortune.

>the point
>your head

>glad you're at least honest about the only reason you liked your name more.
This isn't the comeback you think it is.

then why tack on a picture like that if you're expecting to be taken seriously.

Please never have a child.

>ama
What's your favorite chibi character?

nothing to discuss here, its correct.

The one that doesn't look like jailbait.

>When your love interest never takes the hint
I wish I didn't read last volume.

What was that place that Ishida went to find Shouko in at the start when he would take the bread and Yuzuru would tell him to fuck off? It looked like a classroom but it was filled with obaasans.

nah he starts to get a clue once he's not fixated on redemption 24/7

Not in the movie. out of all media

I love koe no katachi, but you are straight up delusional if you think it's a better kino AND flick then kimi no na wa

Kimi no na wa is a typical hollywood Summer Flick, its enjoyable, but has a passing tasted and worth only one watch.

Koe no Katahi is a classic, that will remain relevant for long, one being able to enjoy it rewatchingi year after year like people do with Disappearance and discover new things and emotions.

while name dropping certainly sounds like kyoani pandering, there is a lot more than most people will notice in a one shot viewing. how many of you even noticed that shouko signs "thank you instead of "see you" before attempting suicide? still it's just one of the many other small nuances hidden in the movie.

Literally the other way around
Kimi no na wa will be talked about 10 years from now

fug

I watched it after going to see KnK in theaters - I had already forgotten it, it's that forgettable.

I mean rewatched, for the 3rd time and it still felt relatively fresh experience. It's a feel good wank that's easy to forget to watch again in a couple months.

>UWAWAWAUÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉ

I only saw kimi no na wa once and all I remember from that was a gay time travel love story.

That pretty much sums it up.

>starts to get a clue
These are not the clues I was hoping to see, Shoya just realizes he doesn't want to let her go and it's not because he is feeling guilty anymore, he just want to be around Shoko... as a good friend. There is literally only one moment in whole manga setting that Shoya thinks about Shoko in a wife material way, picrelated. That's pretty much it, he never thought about her in that way at all and he is clueless about Shoko's feelings too.
Actually there is one thing that bothers me a little still: Through the story Shoya is really afraid of touching Shoko and tries to avoid as many contacts as possible, Shoko sees this and does the same to him at some point, but after time skip in last chapter he finally uses all his courage and takes Shoko's hand, walking her to the meeting room. Did author implied that he is finally ready, or is it another best friends forever remark? Why would Oima made an open ending like this anyway, what was she thinking?
Noticed this in the manga, but I though she said "Goodbye" here.

nah, they're an item and even act the part. If they move into a shared apartment shouko will definitely take the lead and try to get shouya to tap that, walking around naked after a bath, etc. she loved him since they were kids. Shouya is just too worried about coming off as "creepy" and even mentions it several times - he's a red-blooded male with a pulse, he just has enough self-awareness to questions his motives. I can't find the page, but yuzuru tells shouya that it's time to kiss her already and he goes slapping her on the back say "I might just do that".

he's the image you were looking for you glorious piece of shit

Where can we expect british dub to download? Nyaa or others gonna rip it ?

>I can't find the page, but yuzuru tells shouya that it's time to kiss her already and he goes slapping her on the back say "I might just do that".
You didn't understand the meaning of that chapter at all, user, Shoya was trying to act excited, smiling whole chapter to appear happy in front of Shoko, but at the same time he was unable to stop thinking about what happened on the bridge. Shoko was doing exactly the same, throwing forced smiles and going along with it, it was called "Pretend date" for a reason. Oh, and Yuzuru sees this too, but hopes they will figure things out on their own.
>she loved him since they were kids
I would not be so sure about that, user, after all the damage Shoya has done — Shoko, might be for the first time in her life, tries to make a move toward someone in order to solve the problem instead of running away, but failing miserably because Shoya is a dickhead. I don't think there was love involved at all.

>try to talk with someone
>doesn't pay any attention
>are you deaf bro
>wtf what a cunt now serves you right you fucking asshole how dare you assume I was deaf when I actually was deaf

Both are overrated.

>dub
yuck

all I can tell you is this, and while I know people that aren't somewhat deaf or don't even know someone with any level of deafness would know this and explains why this movie is so unrelateable to so many people compared to your name but.

you massively misunderstand how much abuse deaf/HOH (hard of hearing) people will deal with to find even just one person they can be wholesome with. This is something a lot of people don't understand is why shouko didn't "take a hint" as a child in trying to make friends, and if you don't think grabbing shouya's hand as a kid didn't mean she had small feelings of wanting someone to be with, even at that age, you are blissfully ignorant of what us doorknobs went through growing up. I don't know how Oima managed to encapsule this so well, maybe she grew up with a doorknob herself, because this is some next level introspection.

the euphemism of calling deaf people doorknobs comes from the idiom "deaf as a doorknob" I even wrote a poem about it as a teenager

What a fucking ignorant
Look at the colour of ribbon for example and go back when you decide to give it 10/10

K, Koefag.

Classic? Good one, Koefag. Nobody will remember this series 10 years from now because it is shite. Even Kimi No Na Wa will still be mentioned and remembered for its influence.
