I did Airforce Cadets when I was 12 years old to 18. It was great, more people should do it. We did marches/parades, weapons training, aircraft theory and survival.

Yeah, I've said the same thing and I've gotten mostly neutral to positive responses. I think most people would be served pretty well by some military training.
I am actually in the process of joining the reserves in my country. It's great experience and they help you with everything that you want, like education, medical/dental and finding work. I already have a job, but I think I'd have a better career if I joined the reserves.
I do also love my country and like you said, the discipline, respect for authority and responsibility are a plus for those that are not born with it or never had a father figure.

Now women can be fighter pilots and don't even have to register for selective services. Worse yet, the left is pushing for kids to vote and by all other measures the age of adulthood to be higher.

That's not just in the materiel and facilities needed to train and house people while they're being conscripted. It's also the time and talent lost to society while these people are undergoing training that ultimately doesn't really change their market value. That three to six month window is a semester of trade school or college or work that the conscript is missing, which factors into a lot of money in the long run.

The average serviceman has more education and a vastly cleaner legal and medical record than the civilian base at large, and in the long run tend to make for much better citizens.
