What is the consensus on pay-to-stream?
What is the consensus on pay-to-stream?
>consensus
It's for you to fuck off.
The only way to be a moralfag while also not becoming poor from bluray prices.
I'm not giving you money so you can fund your agenda.
check le dubs
Stick a broom in your ass
>your agenda.
Woooah, crackhead spotted.
>consensus
Please lurk before you post, you're only shitting up the board.
check em before you fuck off.
>supporting the jews
>no supporting the artist
Fuck off

Shitty marketing, okay but not great service. I guess if you have a problem with downloading ethically or whatever it'll do fine. I'd never admit to it though.
It sucks. I'm not going to give money to 3 different streaming sites to get 50% of anime I want to watch in significantly worse quality.
It's some faggot baiting.
>pay for something you can literally get for free
>thinking streaming sites benefit the anime industry in any way
Fuck off back to MAL.
If you want to support the industry you can do it by yourself and without western third party jews.
>one day streaming companies will be powerful enough to shut down the fansub scene
They literally already did it to all the spic fansubs
Then ask that specific question in the post, dipshit.
If you don't want to be lectured, lurk so you avoid making shitty posts, or get the fuck out.
Its shit for ironic weebs to use. What's even worse is newfags on here shitting on streamfags while at the same time using and having no problem with horriblesubs.
No they won't be. Netflix is much bigger than CR will ever be and they can't do shit to stop people from pirating/subbing their shows.
>one day
You mean like two-three years ago?
>asking an objectively retarded group of virgin poorfags what they think about paying for something
>letting yourself get jewed for no reason
Retards are going to be retards. I couldn't care less.
The only way to stop pirates is offering a better service.
One way to do that is shut down the most convenient piracy services.
it's already dead
whoever is left is only touching up the stream rips, there is nobody left to actually subbing anything that is japan-only like the new SYD movie
>being this much of a fucking cuck that you have to pay money to fucking stream
Can you read? Shutting down others is not "offering a better service".
Not even worth considering until there's a service that doesn't localise, insert stupid memes, and just get translations plain wrong.
Most of the people are still there. They just sub BDs these days.
Its impossible to offer a better service than clicking a button to get a drm free high quality episode permanently stored on your pc in 10 minutes for free.
Only way to make your service seem "better" is make it impossible to do the above.
or just do the same and ask for money, like steam does (I know steamworks and stuff but it's up to developer and can be easily cracked)
There's far too many.
If I wanted to watch everything I'm watching legally I'd need to subscribe to like 6 different services and even then some of them wont even come to where I live.
You underestimate how dumb/lazy the average consumer is. If CR/Funi had proper subs and not completely crap encodes people would actually be eager to buy their shit.
Almost no one sells drm free tv shows or movies.
Sure if CR offered direct download link to anime thats stored drm free on your pc and it's cheap it would be attractive, but they dont.
Imagine if you're selling 300$ bds and someone sold the same show for 10$ thats stored more convenienty on a hdd, no one would buy bds ever. The business model is bds and streaming, no direct downloads ever.
I only pay for one streaming service at the moment. Crunchyroll is pretty good imo. basically this tho. Its like 7 bucks a month and more convenient for me
except BDs have higher resolution and other fixes compared to tv streams
the tv source resolution is usually 720p while BDs come with native 1080p
unless you like upscaled garbage there's a huge difference
Vidya publishers have been trying to hinder piracy since forever but it's still going strong, don't lose hope user.
We've been over this, streaming's bad and crunchyroll sucks dick.
CR is already owned by AT&T
...
If you don't already know what Sup Forums's consensus on this is, you don't belong here.
(while I'm in this folder)
...
>ye crumbly wheel
Every time.
kill yourself you piece of shit, torrenting is superior in every way
I HOPE AMAZON AND NETFLIX KILL THE FUNISHIT AND CRSHIT NIGGERS
I don't currently spend money on it, but I suppose it's a nice way for casuals to indulge in anime and slowly make anime mainstream some time in my life.
"No."
Imagine if you're selling 300$ bds and someone just airs your anime on TV for free and you can record it and store more convenienty on a player memory, no one would buy bds ever.
>streaming companies now require you to download their specific streaming application to watch their anime
>impossible to rip
>detects any software attempting to record as
>always-online DRM
>anime with Denuvo
The year is 20XX and people are painstakingly recreating anime pixel by pixel in GIMP because Paint is gone, Paint 3D is shit, Photoshop is still crashing because there's not enough RAM to use CS 50 and CGI has become so well done that the almost human like nature of it is too uncanny for otaku to buy into.
Camrips
Truly dark times ahead.
don't
>Hey guys let's give more of our money to Jews!
No
Fansubbing died on its own
Even Daiz&co aren't doing shit now and just work for crunchyroll
>camrips of seasonal TV series
Oh boy, it'll be like waiting for movie BDs to watch in acceptable quality except for every show ever produced or at least the ones popular enough to get uploaded at all.
Option A: torrent like any sane Sup Forumsnon and buy Blu-Rays/Merch when possible
Option B : take whatever money you were going to use on these services and donate it to a charity or a homeless person or even fucking burn it for all we care, then stream on some free website.
And in both cases, LURK MORE FAGGOT.
The 1080p is upscaled you mongoloid. The native resolution is whatever is closest to what the artist originally drew.
Miles from CR once said your money is roughly split like this:
You pay 6$.
CR takes away the cost for infrastructure. This is fluctuating a bit, but around 1$.
More than half of the rest (70/30 maybe) goes to CR. From this they buy the licences, promo, R&D, etc.. The remaining 30% are split to the publisher depending on what was watched the most.
I don't know if the studios profit from the initial license and the trickle monthly royalties the same way as from BD and figures. Though it would surprise me if not.
Now I don't know if Miles was honest so take that as you wish.
I support it because I dont give a fuck about quality and only buy blurays when I actually want to support the studio.
>IV Children
>that whole section
The efforts of this images maker are well appreciated
It's for faggots like you
You're really paying out of good faith for the subtitles.
There are no more sub groups anyway anymore. I'd rather have that than nothing.
They are growing
But Blurays from nipland are ridiculously priced.
It would be wonderful if their players fucking worked after you pay for them.
Ugh, that horrendous Windows 10 App, which leaves fullscreen mode when you manually skip to the next episode and does not remember volume in any case between episodes.
Sup Forums - Anime & Manga brought to you by [PAID STREAMING SERVICE]™
>Ugh
Fuck off
Ugh, you fuck off.
Not worth it for the services they provide.
For FREE, I can get higher-quality videos, my own choice of subtitles (customizable if you know what you're doing), and an infinitely larger catalogue.
And if you want to make the moralfag/walletvoterfag argument, ordering physical copies of the blurays and other such merchandise will help the artists you care about exponentially more.
The fact that only a tiny portion of your CR subscription (for example) goes to the publishers in Japan is well known, but consider the fact that such a small cut is split to ALL publishers that CR is associated with, because it's a monthly sub fee and has nothing to do with what shows you watch. If you get a CR subscription and watch a handful of your favourite shows, you're still "paying" for hundreds more shows that you have literally no interest in. You could easily consider this as having a far worse effect on the industry than even piratefags that pay for nothing, because they are near-directly supporting the garbage overinflating the industry.
And then of course consider that even after your pennies reach the publishers, how much of that is trickling down into the pockets of the artists responsible for whatever you care about?
Ultimately I cannot possibly see the worth in a subscription to an anime streaming service.
He and his research are full of shit.
Buyfaggers lost. Stremfags won.
Streaming service providers turned out to be more important for the nip producers than the few gaijins spending a few hundred dollars on imported BDs and figurines from Japan.
And now the streaming service providers from China and America are now beginning to muscle their way inside Japan's production committee systems to get their own original animation products, instead of having to suck on nip producer dicks for shitty licenses.
And the best part about it is that the Japanese anime studios prefer working for the big gaijin companies now simply because they pay more and don't demand unreasonable schedules to be fulfilled. That is the reality of the year 2017.
Buyfaggers = morons who help Japanese Jew companies, but not the anime studios.
Streamfags = morons who help the anime studios.
Since the only reason to buy shitty stuff from Japan was to help the animators in Japan, buyfaggers fell for the dumbest scheme ever.
Netflix >>>>>>> Crunchyroll.
KyoAni said so, don't ever question you GodAni ever again, ultimatecuckbetamax.
>The fact that only a tiny portion of your CR subscription (for example) goes to the publishers in Japan is well known, but consider the fact that such a small cut is split to ALL publishers that CR is associated with, because it's a monthly sub fee and has nothing to do with what shows you watch
ITT: Assumptions with no source whatsoever presented as fact.
Fuck off Miles
"Rub a dub dub thanks for the grub" will never not make me laugh
Who is this Miles person you faggots keep name dropping?
Where the fuck have you been? Crunchyroll already did that years ago; fucking bastards started as a leech website stealing from fansubbers, got rich, somehow went legit without facing legal repercussions for getting money out of stolen property to begin with, then proceeded to kill the fansub scene where 80% of releases are just Crunchyroll re-encodes.
Reminds me of Fakku a bit
No sources and arguments?
>LURK MORE FAGGOT
You say this, and I commend you for trying to keep the spirit alive, but your post doesn’t add up.
>buy shit when possible
>stream on some free website
>calling yourself Sup Forumsnon
Lurk more, faggot. I can tell you’ve only lurked for 5 years at best, from your mentality.
Someone who works at CR:
I don't know how biased this is, after all he works for CR, but here is his claim of how the money is used:
reddit.com
reddit.com
There was another comment somewhere where he was a little more explicit, but I cannot find it anymore.
>a bit
It's quite literally the same, but in Crunchyroll's case much more money was involved, they were making millions as far back as when they were just a leech website, 2 million dollars transactions in 2007, ANN interviewed them on how a website that was basically stealing can just walk freely like that, Shinji (admin) just masterfully dodged all questions.
>here is my reply on how it works, note the source is my ass but I work at CR so I am instantly correct
>oh thanks!
Well cool
>considered paying for Crunchyroll
>everything is subbed in German and no way to change that
Haha no fuck you
Option A: Masterful thieves that started by stealing fansubs, got rich, made the right calls and went legit, proceeding to kill the very fansubs that made them big in the first place.
Option B: Legit company but with dodgy translations, dubious casting and as of recently rampant script rewrites made by SJWs who want to get their word out through fucking anime dubs.
Hmm tough choice, I'd rather pirate or buy Blu Rays straight from Japan if I feel like supporting anyone.
You can change the language to english(us) subtitles.
I can understand not wanting to pay blu-ray prices but localized releases aren't that bad. I just don't understand people who would rather stream when blu-ray quality is available. Even in 1080 stream quality turns into a hot mess when any fast action is on screen.
The guy said he was subscribed to every legal streaming service he could get his hands on. Which was like seven or so. I wouldn't believe a word of his.
Practically none of the anime shows that came out recently are really worth owning physically.
Watching them once and then be over it is more than enough, if you even bother watching it to the end in the first place.
I'd rather buy the BD, rip it and then sell it to some fortunate poorfag for a reasonable price than having everything clog up with BDs that I'll never bother to get up and put in my non-existing BD player anyway. The highest quality encode on my NAS is enough.
>shows that came out recently
I guess that's what it comes down to. I carefully pick shows (mostly older) that I want. To someone who just wants to keep up with the newest shows I suppose a more disposable method of watching like streaming is preferable. Most modern anime fans probably just stream seasonal meme show on their phone anyway.
I'm sure Miles can afford it.
I've been doing it for years and I'm very happy. Quality of service and catalog has continuously improved. Admittedly, the entry of the supermajor West Coast tech brands into the market has complicated the picture though. I'm still pirating and IPs I'm interested in which were licensed by Netflix.
Neither of those. Anime is still alive, because of those few thousand neets. Problem here is that those few thousand neets are not immortal and will not procreate anytime soon.
Supporting anime industry is only effective when you are doing it directly, so paying for streams is out of question. In that sense, BDs are way more directive way to support it or donating your money to the studios.
Speaking of torrenting, no one is actually making profit (unless you buy merch after being influenced from it) or losses (if you stop buying merch). You can't really evaluate how much it does affect the industry.
There wouldn't be any reason to drag outsiders if it was domestically successful thing.
Source: My dogs anus.
This is a good thing to anyone who always wanted to learn Japanese, now you literally have no excuse.
>You can't really evaluate how much it does affect the industry.
Of course you can, by estimating lost potential revenue. The incentive to contain piracy has always been that it represents unrealized market growth, not that it directly amounts to financial losses.
