It's overrated. People just like the OP and the ED a lot and while those are good i think that the rest of the soundtrack is lacking. It's also pretty absent in the show itself from what i remember.

The Vocal tracks were all good, I liked the rest of the soundtrack when I was younger but I don't like it as much anymore.

I think a lot of it has to do with it being overhyped as well. I remember at the time people were saying it was the next big thing in anime, and although it was extremely enjoyable it's not like it did anything extraordinary. Nonetheless it's still one of my favorite anime and I find it hard to pick out any super big flaws that would make the average person dislike it aside from it being episodic, QUALITY at times, and lack of waifus.

It's sad because him and J Dilla had impressive sampling skills, whereas this new generation of "Get a beat with a piano and loop it with an anime picture" Really fucked the scene up.
