Just like any other group, the level of extremism, if you will, varies greatly. The majority of us want a prosperous society that is happy and productive. Unfortunately, some are just outrageously overzealous. They're obsessed and they're absolutely dedicated to their vision of how things should be.
We fight among one another just as you see other white Republicans and Democrats disagree. And, much like those public figures, we have meetings where we establish our path ahead.
Where I live, we have a meeting once a year at City Hall well after hours (with private security) where we decide the projects and agendas we're going to push ahead with. And once the votes are taken, that's where we're going. Dissent is not tolerated post-vote.

That is true, but it's due to our inability (or more realistically, our unwillingness) to reign in the more zealous people. I'm hoping that, at least in the US, we can rely on the voters to even things out. Once President Trump was elected, a lot of us somewhat secretly cheered that the more intelligent of the populace was catching on and going to keep the ship from sinking.
