Why didnt Britain and France declare war on the USSR if they also invaded Poland?
Why didnt Britain and France declare war on the USSR if they also invaded Poland?
Why declare war on your friends? They obviously only had it in for Hitler.
Poland, in fact, ceased to exists as a state when the ussr invaded.
Depleted, plus we all jews together
Thats hypocritical as hell and it makes me angry. How can you say your gonna protect Poland but make an exception when the Soviets invade?
Because BBC
Declaring war on the USSR would have resulted in the ME and India divided b/w soviets and axis.
Because they would have definitely lost.
They didn't invade Poland. They occupied, and took it as their own after Germany was pushed out and eventually defeated by the allies.
That's a good point, according to their treaty with Poland the UK would've been obliged to treat the Soviet Union as their enemy, just like Germany.
The Brits knew what would happen if they egged on Poland to not accept any negotiations with Germany over the terrible treatment of the German minority in Poland.
Polish gov officials even admitted that they wouldn't have acted this way without the guarantees of Britain.
Well, that's how it goes, you lie in the bed with a snake, you get bit and end up a slave for half a century. Well played.
