Cross Ange

What do you think of this masterpiece? Did you enjoy it, anons?

It was mediocre but watching it with Sup Forums made it enjoyable. Kinda like a/z.

The scene where Ange shoots the civilian in the head is one my favorite of all time.

forgot pic

I sincerely enjoyed it, my only issues were Barbie Doll Anatomy especially in one episode, Tusk living through an Allahu Akbar with no damage with no reason givem(even Momoka had a gag excuse, he had nothing) and it got a little obvious that they were reusing transformation scene footage in one of the final episodes. Favourite scene was Tusk bragging to Embryo that he fucked his waifu, that shit was comedy gold.

Hilda is best girl.

dude trainwrecks lmao

One of my favorite shows ever.
It just rubbed me in all the right places.

It was a rollercoaster that made me tune in each week to see what happened next. I enjoyed it.

Such a good scene.
Ange became merciful enough to let the mana humans alone and still didn't hesitate to use lethal force when that idiot tried to point a gun at her.

...

It was a rollercoaster and not in the good way

Pretty much this. Shows like this always seem to attract the worst posters on here. Its even more pathetic when there's better options for trashy mecha anime but you gotta watch it for the epic maymays as they say around here.

chris a best

yeah but only ironically xD
*puts on make anime great again hat*

>there's better options for trashy mecha anime

name one that's not valrape

Cross Ange was better than Valvrape though.

Remember when she went traitor, killed her former juniors with glee, and then got to rejoin everyone with zero consequence

a literal god tasteless

>killed off the hottest girl before the beach episode
>no nipples on bd
FUKUDAAAAAAAAA

>no nipples on bd
ugh disappointing

>Tusk living through an Allahu Akbar with no damage with no reason givem
HE'S A NINJA.

Ange deserted twice, got two juniors and a captain killed, was indirectly responsible for the massacre of almost the entirety of the island and no one holds it against her.

SoL Harem Comedy set in Cafe Ange when?

she and the other girls also destroyed the entire foundation the magic user society was built on, killing probably millions

>unbraided hair chris
HOLY FUCK. YES.

Not an accomplishment or something to be proud of, both are bottom of the barrel crap.

I don't care, that shit reminded me of Pell from One Piece surviving a nuke to the face.

No that was Embryo, remember?

>Tusk living through an Allahu Akbar
truly the greatest hero of our time

no desu, i only watched this when it aired, due for a rewatch

I remember that it was my fault

Well Embryo shut the mana network down himself so he could channel the mana into the world combination shit he was doing instead.

Ange was indirectly responsible for those things, she didn't actually go around doing the killings. Unlike Chris.

>Tusk living through an Allahu Akbar with no damage with no reason givem
Wasn't the official reason he was able to wear some sort vest (he's a NINJA so he's fast enough to wear it in a second) which protected him from the blast? I mean, it's no better than Kira living through exploding Gundams all because of a "break in case of explosions" reason but it's there.

...

what a homo

>expected it to be Embryo in disguise
>it wasn't

Iirc he said he was an invincible knight or something. Still garbage. At least the excuse Momoka gave with was funny and obviously a gag.

To be fair Embryo or not that was were everything was heading
>DRAGONs fighting back
>Ange and Hilda declaring that the world was not worth saving.

reminder that sylvia leads a group of maids as a wasteland vigilante

I like how he calls dodging attacks on SRWV "ninja techniques"

This was easily one of my favorite shows to watch and post about every week as it aired. It had so many loud, fun scenes that made threads lively and active.

Cross Sylvia never.

Loved the first half, second half fell off hard with the Dragon World arc lasting a bit too long. Tusk had his moments, but overall I just wish he didn't exist, with his scenes, plot significance, love interest role, etc split between Hilda and Sala. Especially Sala, she felt way more irrelevant than she should have (especially after that flashback/montage halfway in).

No BD nipples was bullshit.

Also, the amount of effort that went into that apology letter that was on screen for maybe a second tops, contrasted with the gibberish gravestones and more typical Engrish elsewhere, will never cease to confuse me.

Godannar
GunxSword
Code Geass
Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo

>Soaring Cake Girl
That was just a clusterfuck that made no sense.
Cross Ange gave me that oldschool feeling of the eighties, early nineties when people didn't care about being politically right, they wanted to entertain. I treasure this show for that reason.

>That was just a clusterfuck that made no sense.
Just like Cross Ange
>Cross Ange gave me that oldschool feeling of the eighties, early nineties when people didn't care about being politically right, they wanted to entertain.
Then you're an idiot because the show wasn't anything like that and couldn't even be arsed to draw fucking nipples. CA is a result of an edgy 12 year old writing Gundam SEED fanfiction being careful not to stray too far in case his mommy reads it.

Watching Cross Ange I remember reading some interview with the creators of one of those Adult Swim cartoons, think it was 8oz Mouse, and how they talked about how much effort they put into making sure each frame looked as crappy and off model as possible.

Oh my god, I could actually imagine her writing this.

>show references tons of oldschool stuff, even has sound effects from the seventies
>it's not like that because I said so!
The intelligence of the average tominofag.

this

EMBRYO SAMA DID NOTHING WRONG!

he didnt spank enough asses like he did his one thirsty slut

Momoka wrote it. Which makes it even more appropriate.

It's some of the best english I've seen in anime ever, and it's used for a split-second frame you can't even read while watching live, yet basically every other (infinitely more visible) use of English is either Engrish or not even that. It's bizarre.

she didn't

I wish. Cross Ange was best when it wasn't being Cross Ange. Like when they were stuck in the other universe and Ange was just playing games with the Princess.

Cross Ange second season when?

...

it did though

Three days after hell freezes.
It was trash anime that was only allowed to go on for so long because of who was involved with it.

Least she had a better reason than Salia.

...

Embryo did exactly two things wrong.
1.Not keeping his dick in his pants until after the worlds were destroyed, which leads to
2.Just sitting there letting Ange sing and lead everyone to them

>show references tons of oldschool stuff, even has sound effects from the seventies
I thought the meme of CAfags being composed of idiots who have no clue what they're talking about wasn't true but now

>MUH VIDYA GAYMES!
Back to Sup Forums kiddo.

It often happens that the filler is more interesting than the main story. Like in Kiddy Girl-and, which felt a lot like CA in many ways.

Wasn't it because Chris thought they left her to die since she didn't know the runway exploded after getting shot in the head?

The power of outsourcing, everyone.

Of all the things you could have chosen to say you had to pick the one that makes no Earthly sense

>not including this

>absolutely no claims of his own, just namecalling

>I'm so much better than you because I watch intellectual animĕ for intellectuals like me!
The fedora is strong with you.

>what you can see on your screen is literally not true because I hate this show
Will you ever stop being butthurt?

Cross Ange's supreme irony, to me, is that its core narrative is probably one of the greatest tales of a feminist revolution ever told, but noone who actually identifies as a feminist would ever be able to make it through the first episode.

lol and i'm sure none of those girls would consider themselves feminists either

>Was so butthurt he quoted the same post twice
Nothing I said was wrong jackass.

Somehow, it was a lot better than the melodramatic fanservicey piece of garbage it tried so hard to be.

>feminist
Nobody knows what this shit means anymore do they? People wouldn't dare to label as such because nobody is dumb enough to do so well except for you

Cross Ange was as if they asked people on the street to tell them the first thing that came to their mind when they hear the word "anime" and then proceeded to do an anime with those words.

I liked how it gave a middle finger to every side though. The waifufag who was supposed to buy the BDs and dakis got majorly NTR'd by the ninja chad. Absolutely savage.

The first half of the show was good because of that.

Not him but you're very, very wrong.
Cross Ange isn't even remotely similar to Gundam SEED, and SEED itself can be considered Mobile Suit Gundam's fanfiction.

a QUALITY collage would be at least three times as big as Faces of Ange

This is a very good post.

This one is dumb. CA is heavily about female empowerment.

>This is how retarded CAfags are

>Tusk had his moments, but overall I just wish he didn't exist, with his scenes, plot significance, love interest role, etc split between Hilda and Sala

Many times this. Really, Hilda and Tusk should have been combined to form a new character.

Called Hilda.

>Cross Ange isn't even remotely similar to Gundam SEED
Found the retard

Yeah...middle finger. You sure showed them Fukuda

CA is closer to being a Macross show than a Gundam.

The hair does match down there

>CA is heavily about female empowerment.
>Ange is constantly having to be rescued by Tusk even in the final battle and is generally incompetent
>In fact the shows brings forth the argument that women should never be given a seat in power because they'll let their emotions drive them to betraying their own kind for sex and lavish accessories
How empowering!

I don't call myself feminist because I'd be lying if I implied I was actually actively working to make the world a better place for women in exchange for virtue signalling brownie points.

I mean, that doesn't stop (most) other people from lying, but still.

Nonetheless, feminist themes in literature are a hot topic and it's always worth keeping an eye out for good examples, and Cross Ange is an especially spicy example, to iterate, precisely because the people who go on and on about how every fucking narrative under the sun has feminist themes even when they plainly do not will never watch it unless I put them into some kind of Clockwork Orange scenario and force them to.

Fuck me, which episode? I was mostly focusing on ep. 18 when I made it.

>constantly
>the entire story about a bunch of girls labelled as social outcasts revolting against a supreme leader male and literally burning the world to rebuild a new one where they are in charge never happened

Yeah and she's constantly fucking up and having to be rescued. Even in the final battle Tusk has more of a reason to bring down Embryo than Ange does.

8k is a success in Sunrise measures but merchandise was Sunrise's main fuck ups that killed the franchise.

Even when Tusk was really, really bland (as expect for the love interest on an action hero) and I would rather have a HildAnge ending, I just can't be angry at him.
- Instead of being a timid coward afraid of girls, he was attracted to Ange since the first time he met her. He even asked her to stay on his island
- The "head on crotch" gag worked excellently when it happened at the time of Ange's execution. Probably it was the whiplash between one of the darkest moments in the show and that dumb gag.
- He had a mini arc of sorts where Ange motivated him to stop fleeing from his duty and to fulfill his fate (he told as much to Embryo: "I'm not scared anymore"). Like many things about that show that wasn't properly explored.
- He actually had sex with his love interest
- He bragged to the main villain how he had sex with said love interest
- He was a genuinely nice person in a place full of horrible people.

His flaws were how perfect he was (as much of a Mary Sue as Ange herself), his awful character design (no one likes Kira Yamato and he remind everyone of him way too much), his overall lack of personality, and the overreliance on the crotch gag.

the thing is Embryo is not actually a bad guy. the people in the CA universe are bad by their own choice and volition.

Would you watch an anime with her as the protag?

3 DAYS AND 3 NIGHTS

Embryo was definitively an evil man. A murderous, selfish narcissist psychopath.
The mana society being full of evil people was just creations reflecting their creator.

That's pretty much how it ended though. Ange has a harem and runs a nice cliffside cafe in dragonland.

SoL sequel would be nice.

Ange really gets the ball rolling mostly by herself.

I would argue that all of the scenes where bad things happen to Ange or Tusk saves her are very much supposed to be about coming to terms with the fact that even a powerful woman will still not only have people white knight her from time to time, but that those allies are valuable. You can't succeed in this world entirely on your own, and if the help you get is from a man people will take certain things away from that.

Noone could argue that say, Tusk was more instrumental to what happened than Ange though.

Meanwhile, the parts of the prison and resistance arcs you refer to are indeed about how women in power can end up being bizarrely treacherous, but that this is because in a stressful environment where they are all "imprisoned" (oppressed) people will naturally squabble and struggle to rise to the top of the heap, even though the top of the heap is still a lower, oppressed position. Only by uniting emotionally and throwing off their oppressors entirely so that there is no glass ceiling can they avoid being manipulated by oppressors with even more power than their ruler.

This is the sort of shit that mainstream literature is afraid of exploring, because if you don't sit down and think about it, the surface reading of themes comes off as sexist enough to trigger a tumblr crusade. Critical reading ability is on a downward slump these days.
