I slipped a disc in my lower back some time ago and this is not my experience. I can hardly get an injection of painkiller in the ER, (one time, controlled setting, pain relief). In the few times it's gotten bad enough that I'm finally wikling to shell out 1500$ for an anti-inflammatory injection that my doctors can't get me in less than a month, I've watched tons of 4' 200 lb goblinas walk out with scripts for methadone for carpal tunnel bullshit and fibromyalgia while they send me home in the same amount of pain I came in with after a shot that will take days to work.
You can probably get drugs from doctors in this country but not if you're a white person with a job.
Every single doctor I've seen has asked me what the problem is and then they stare blankly while asking "and what do you want me to do about it" so they don't accidentally offer more help than you were willing to settle for. In my whole adult life this has been my only interaction with doctors, I had almost no medical history before I fucked my back up and I'm still treated like a pill seeking junky while actual junkies get bumped ahead of me in the ER. It's enough to make a person fucking hate doctors.
