Anyone else geuinelly saddened by Toys R Us closing?

Toys R Us was where my dad would take me after watching me play soccer at the park and if I had a really good game. It was a independent bonus to our family bond not the bond itself. Walking in there, wanting the most expensive thing, my dad telling me no saying I need to work or to get those and learning about limits and expectations and what hard work can give you is nice as well as just walking around looking at toys with family. There is less and less for kids to do other than look at Elsa decapitation videos on their iPads and it's really sad. What will the parental unit be in 20 years?

I addressed you edgy faggots already so lets try to stay on topic.

yeah i am. i was a toys r us kid

press F to pay respeccs

Yes and no. It was always magical getting to go there and pick something out, but at the same price they were always stupidly over priced. I'll miss the fantasy of it and I feel sad that my children won't know it.

Going to Toys R Us as a kid was huge. It was located in a city about half an hour a way so going there was a big deal. I can't remember much of experiences as a child, but I do remember being mesmerized by their video game aisle. I'm sure if I revisited that store as an adult, I'd be disappointed.

No, they should have figured out how to compete. Still overcharging what everyone else was charging for the same products, making buying online a total hassle and refusing to innovate to stay in business makes it their fuckin fault. fuck them

Toys were too expensive.

i remember buying this from toys r us back in 1996

shit was so god damn cash

>Not having nostalgia for Zany Brainy instead

Dude, how many dicks have you sucked? Just playing. All these shops needed to die. They were remnants of consumer culture.

Attached: Zanyshop.png (411x500, 308K)

Threadly reminder that this is all Mitt Romney's fault.

Their buying online system is the same as
Walmart. You order and pick it up at whatever
location you select. They also matched prices.
I think you're oversimplifying the reasons they
closed.

>be NEET
>decide to reenter workforce
>force self to put out applications
>swallow pride and go to interview
>get job at Toys R Us
>at least it's something
>1 week later company files for bankruptcy
>work my ass off anyways because I'm not a nigger
>get to keep my job after the holidays
>all of the stores are closing
>all of the stores, user
>mfw I'm a fucking NEET again

>toys r us
holy fuck what?
are you serious?

R.I.P

They were undone because fucking Bain Capital and Mitt Romney did a leverage buyout in 2005, bought them and took them private with debt, using the company as collateral.

Toys r' Us is still a profitable company. They have made profit every year since the recession. They just cannot service the debt they incurred under Mittens and make a profit at the same time. So the Banks are now liquidating them to service the loans. Because the contracts held the company in collateral.

Fucking Brainlet.

Nope went in their recently to buy some toys for some kids party, and the staff dragged their feet and acted like it was a fucking pain to help us out.

Also modern kids toys are gay as fuck. You will be better off giving the kid a shovel and telling him to go dig a hole and then fill it back up when he is done. Now that's fun.

Was this after they all found out that they
were losing their jobs? Because I can give
you a hint why they wouldn't care...

I loved toysrus as a kid. It was one of the few stores that for whatever reason always had games in stock. The local one that I grew up with turned into compete shit. I went there a few months ago and everything was a mess. Empty boxes of stock everywhere. Nothing was in the correct place and it was was dirty.

Toys definitely are over priced for cheap Chinese plastic shit.

Yeah I think we only paid back 1 billion in interest on a 5 billion dollar loan KEK

No.

mah nigga

I was blown away when I first saw and played pokemon blue/red, it doesn't really hold up

Yeah a little bit. I'm taking its closing to mean that my childhood has finally come to an end. So many good memories from those stores.

Haven't been to a Toys R Us in years. Fuck it, they couldn't compete

Nope this was like a year ago, shouldn't have said recent.

Toys make kids pussies anyways. Hey little Timmy instead of playing with Yugioh cards why don't you go work in the coal mine, that could be fun AND educational!!!

The modern parent is dogshit they let their grimey kids touch and knock down every manner of toy while they look at their fucking phones. What ever happened to the saying that a store is not a playground

>autistic kid cries because his favorite toy store is closing
>don't call me mean names or you're a sociopath!
Fuck off you retarded loser. Their prices were marked up, there wasn't anything there that I couldn't find at Walmart or Amazon for cheaper. There is 0 reason for this store to exist, except for you to strangle your dick over your fondest child hood, nostalgic memories.

last time I was in there was to go to some faggy pokemon card meetup I was only there to get this rare mew card

I'm not terribly surprised by that but that's the
way it is at most minimum wage slave jobs.

was nothing more than a "made in china" outlet store in the 90's im sure its the same now.

imagination and creativity create the best child entertainment, and is the most productive for a child's development. Buying cheap injection molded plastic made by slave labor in china isnt needed. let it die, give your child a forest to run around, a pool to play in, a playground to mess around on and they wont miss that boring shit. Most the toys children get are used for a week then are never used again, i know mine as a kid were immediately dropped for a mad max style bike ride though my neighborhood with local kids.

Used to go to toys r us then walk next door to this gem.... The roller slide and bungee tower were the Fucking best!

Attached: AEZuBs1.jpg (720x720, 101K)

good memories of going to the toy store.
what is the equivalent for kids today?

You misread my post. I understand Toys R Us fucked up business wise I don't disagree with that. I am talking about the edgy faggots who whine here that you have some kind of emotional connection to a store.

>as a childless adult I dont shop there, so fuck them!
This guy right here is the true problem with Western society.

Now look at us

Attached: 1507754461219.jpg (736x941, 202K)

That place looks like a pedo front

Fucked up prices, and they were contracted and cabal'd into selling whatever disney wanted to ram down goylets throats even if it didn't sell and rotted on the shelves.

A lot of reasons why comic book stores are failing (IE: Virtual signaling SJW shit no one wants)

That and good ol fashioned failure to keep up with the times- I hate bezos and amazon but at the same time would I rather drive to a big ass store and pay a premium for something I could get delivered to my house for less?

I never got to go to DZ. The closest I got was at the gates, my cheap slavic dad reading the prices with a disgust in his eyes as he takes us away saying "the park is free" as I see all the Jewish kids (it was a Jewish neighborhood) in the windows having fun. That was the day when my disgust of Jews started as just a small seed and bloomed into a full blown tree with me here posting on Sup Forums.

True that. Looking back on the entire concept of consumer "toys" for children and the emasculating effect it had on society is a pretty big red suppository IMO. Think about it, for 99 percent of human history kids just worked mostly with very little play, and all the sudden 1960 plus America these kids are spending all their time playing with shitty little plastic toys.

Can't be good for society. And these gay little tablets are even worse, these lazy parents just stick their kids in front of youtube and let them stare at that shit for hours and hours. Go out side and toss some rocks at birds or something damn.

No.
t. KB Toys and FuncoLand kid

So what happens to all these toy companies now that a major retailer is gone? Walmart won't give them more shelf space. Do they have to piss their pants and pray that Amazon will be enough to keep profits? Won't this make Amazon even stronger?

Ah, forgive my tirade. However, don't have an emotional connection to a store. That shit's gay. You have an emotional connection to the memory. Your dad could have taken you to Burger King after every soccer game and you would have an emotional connection to Burger King. The physical place isn't your connection, it's the time you spent with your dad. If you can replace "toys R us" with "Burger King" and still have the same connection with your father, then toys r us really wasn't all that emotionally connecting for you. It's just the easiest physical place to associate those memories.

So many great memories of TRU. Remember the early 90's going into the game isle and the video games were printed pictures of the front of the box and the back and had these papers that you took in to redeem at the video game storage place. Also remember playing playstation Twisted Metal for the first time in 1995.

It must really suck to be a fucking kid nowadays. No arcades, toy stores, video rental places. What do kids nowadays even do for shopping for toys. Are they gonna fucking buy em on Amazon or something.

Really strong memories from childhood associated with Toys R Us. Playing a demo of Vector Man. Waiting forever for my indecisive brother to pick out a toy whenever we had Christmas money to spend.

The company has been dying for a long time now though. They relied on exclusives to keep them afloat. Their stores have been dingy messes for many years now and were horribly managed.

I don't wanna grow up
I'm a Toys-R-Us kid :(

They got a million toys at Toys-R-Us that I can play with ;_;

Wal-mart and everywhere else has to bear the brunt of the garbage heap then.

If they are smart they will REFUSE to stock that shit until they pull their heads out of their asses.

Fair enough and ironically enough the complex also had a BK he would occasionally take us to.

Does TRU still do the tag thing for video games?

Attached: 208-toysrus1990.jpg (615x428, 68K)

Do they even have Toys R Us in Hitler land?

idk was that a good place for pedos to chill or something?
we could just replace toys with you know, sex
already learned that beanie babies are not a smart investment, okay

I don't know if they still do the tag thing. I haven't been there in years. Here's the video for that picture. It's all we have now.

This chain was pillaged for shareholder short term value and forced to take on debt.

It was steered to fail, as most companies are. If more of these companies keep defaulting on the debt they rack up, the stock market is going to burst because everyone is going to realize that the shareholders have snuck off with all the equity that is in American companies while racking them up with retarded amounts of debt. Then everything will collapse and we'll get socialism.

F

It was so exciting picking out a new Nintendo game there.

Toys R Us closing is sad because of what it represents. That the atomized nature of modern living has spared nothing, stay in your homes and use the internet to buy everything. If you need to go somewhere, you don't need to own a car just use Uber. This tech dependent lifestyle is advertised as trendy and convenient, and adults may convince themselves that it is appealing. But when it encroaches to the point where a symbol of cherished childhood memories, and a different way of life and social/cultural climate, succumbs to a new paradigm, it strikes us as wrong because deep down we know it is, it simply takes a powerful symbol to give us a moment of pause and reflect on where we are headed.

That said, I never gave a shit about anything at Toys R Us besides the lego aisle. If you never went ape shit in the lego aisle as a kid I feel bad for you.

Attached: coffee.png (1920x1080, 2.29M)

actually i'm pretty sure that's idol worship and you are all going to hell

I AM THE BEAST I WORSHIP!

Amazon will launch their own toy company once their presence has laid waste to all of their competitors.

We will fight for national syndicalism, fren.

>tfw be a kid and all you have to go by is the cool box art to pick a game out and early mega man shit turns you the fuck off but you see this gem and roll the dice and two months later you completed an adventure filled with wonder and great characters and crazy difficulty

I am not going to lie when my ex broke up with me and I was going through a depressive drunk spell I listened to the soundtrack of this game drunk at 3 in the morning and started crying. That might make me a faggot but it really was the nostalgia I realize that was far away and the good times with my family and coming to grips with them being old and realizing my dad probably won't make another 10 years.

Attached: Little_Nemo_The_Dream_Master-4-500x700.jpg (500x700, 55K)

Sad that you won’t be able to purchase your favourite pony cum rag?

When I was a kid I unironically dreamt of someday digging a big hole over the course of a summer or something. Just a big hole as deep as I could dig it by hand.

Of course I didn't know much about groundwater back then.

Fuck toys r us. My dad took me there once. And we didn't get anything. Ended up finding my sister on the side of the road with a bunch of hoodlums.

The toys have changed. The out door toys are in many ways being traded for fantasy world in door on ass bullshit.

I should have never helped invent the smart phone. I thought it would make people smarter and get addicted to learning. People chose to use it otherwise. How disapointing.

Now that you've branded any possible criticism as coming from undesirables, you're safe right?

Only you're not.
You're a piece of fucking shit.
Toys'R'Us was literally designed, LITERALLY designed to appeal to you're unformed child brain. You ate the entirety of the biggest advertising campaign they ever committed to, because you were a fucking idiot.
But unfortunately for you, "were" is not an excuse, because you are now a full grown adult, STILL espousing their corporate horse shit, FOR FREE. You are literally a Toys'R'Us janitor and you didn't even know it you massive fucking retard.
End yourself.
No seriously, what have you ever contributed to man kind? Fucking kill yourself and do humanity a favour. I'm serious. Fucking kill yourself

I'll meet Saturday it a little, but even as a kid I understood that toys r us was way over priced. Everything there could be found cheaper elsewhere, even before the internet took over. Plus local toys stores were always cooler.

kek'd and saved.

I was going to make a post like this, I’m no communist but this profits/efficiency focused world we live in nowadays is going to end badly. We will have less and less social interaction and big multinationals will have a monopoly over all industries. They are slowly sucking the spice out of life. If a parent is just going to put their kid in front of an iPad all day they should be banned from reproducing. When I was growing up we used to play outside in the bush all day, there were snakes, spiders and god knows what else everywhere but it was a lot better then watching fucking frozen parodies on YouTube.

Also the LEGO aisle was my jam

The tech economy is part of it but the other depressing thing you partially touched on with uber is the concept of the share economy. As a kid, my parents could have a giant ass apartment, two cars that changed every 3 years and trips all the time. Now, thanks to the share economy and high cost of living, you have to depend on others to drive or be the driver yourself. You have to use airbnb to get someone else's apartment or rent out a small part of your already tiny apartment to let a stranger stay there just so you can afford the bills all while working 60 hour work weeks. I understand "times change" but I would argue no time and culture has changed as fast as for someone who grew up in the 80's/90's.

Kids had dolls and toy soldiers and shit going way back. Before it was all plastic it was all wood or tin.

You had good parents. Every nostalgic faggot in this thread did not.

Yeah it was cheesy but there was real honesty and care in the presentation a genuine display of both the magical charm of childhood and the toy store and a supermarket.

Of course there was none in Chile but that's irrelevant.

I didn't really go there that often, but the few times I did were fun. What I was really fond of was the Warner Bros store that was in the mall back in the day. I thought that place was cool as fuck when I was a kid.

You are what you act like. No one wants a beast, also a term for nigger, at their table of intellect.

>meet Saturday it a little
Why does your phone autocorrect miss to meet Saturday user?

Nostalgia is for the weak. Grow up.

>tfw you dig a hole with your hands
>*clay blocks your path*
>Dig in another place
>*rocks block your path*

It was like earth didn’t want me to uncover it’s secrets then again I found a lot of toy cars that were lost in the sand.

You burned brightly user, even if it was just for a short time.

Your post clearly states you have a gay emotional connection to a store. Probably related to your dad only spending time with you in that store.
Fucking soyboy faggot. Go play with your dolls and cry about your dad, faggot.

and thats where you are wrong. I have not given them a dime in years nor am I advocating for them to stay afloat. I acknowledge the connection I had with it as a kid but am fine with watching it go away. You are a edgy sociopath fuck looking for a fight that isn't there.

>he doesnt care that blockbuster is gone
for shame

You have retail experience now. If you want another retail job it should be fucking easy to get one.

I do have a connection but that autist brit thinks I am trying to save the store. No I understand things die. My grandfather literally died two days ago. That's life.

>Toys R Us was where my dad would take me after watching me play soccer at the park and if I had a really good game. It was a independent bonus to our family bond not the bond itself.

I'm going to make an assumption that you didn't have kids and in turn don't take them to Toys R Us after playing at the park..
If I'm correct in your situation, do you realize for Toys R Us to keep functioning they need customers.

You can safely retire now. Cash in all that GBP

Going in here one last time before it closes for good. I will buy something....maybe. Its not how it used to be. My N64 games...rocket kits....bikes....RIP

This for sure. One day, legos will probably go away too..

At least burgers had a store and plenty of toys, I had to challenge my autism with sticks, flowers and a steel soviet car toy in between.

Congrats user, how old was he?

same thing with video rental stores, browsing in a specialized place is an experience all on its own

i really miss just walking around the video store looking for something

Not really saddened.

My dad did take me once in a while, but not really to buy me things. I'd look at lego sets, meanwhile he'd be speculating on what action figures would be worth more money in 20 years.

I'm pretty sure most of the things he bought go for about what he paid for them, on ebay. It's been a while since I really sorted through them, though. I think it's kind of a shame because my mom would meanwhile be working 2-3 jobs to make sure me and my sisters were getting decent food and clothing.

Anyway, I didn't really give a fuck about Toys R Us until you gave it your angle. But, I'm not too worried; just because one chapter of our lives ends, it doesn't mean there can't be something ahead. My kids will probably think I'm a lousy fart, but I hope I can give them memories of quiet nights by a fireplace, or working at a bench in the garage, and learning about wildlife while out camping. I'm sure you'll find opportunities to fill the void.
