The 6 million number is based on discrepancies in censuses of Jews in 1938 and 1948. It requires that Hitler killed 3 million Polish Jews out of its prewar population of 3.3 million.
But this isn't possible, as well over 1 million Polish Jews were evacuated from Soviet Poland before the Germans occupied it. The only way for the 6 million claim to work would be if all of these Jews died under Soviet control, which would be separate from the Nazi's alleged crimes
