But it comes at a cost. Showing a little discrepancy so fast will make Russia look weak at home and some other not so friendly allies will take this chance to move on and pressure the Kremlin. From Ukraine special partners asking more money, to Chechen elite asking more freedom of policy, to local lords on the eastern Oblast demanding more force support like the gas oligarchs enjoy, to patriots officers putting more pressure to leave Syria and its humiliating role of a proxy dictator private security.
